    Overeating

To the OP, yes you will be able to eat all the slider foods again and in larger quantities; maybe not as before surgery but you will be able too. You will have to make your eating plan a focus in your life everyday. It could be easy to slip back into old habits and not resurface. Always keep the surgery you will be having in mind; that 85% of your stomach was removed and you did this surgery for many reasons. It is definitely a LIFE LONG journey!!

    Slider foods

Chips, crackers, ice cream, cookies, chocolate, donuts, cake, tiramisu, the list can go on and on and on..........................................................

    Full feeling? Band Vs. Sleeve

I am 39 weeks out from my revision and I can say that that the full feeling is similar, still in the throat area but this is when you need to stop eating. If I eat slider foods I would more so have a pain in my stomach because I ate too much of it. This surgery will be the best decision you will make I wish you the best.

Can I just make cream of potato soup?

You will need to make it thin and pureed out the onions, no chunks.
  5. To the OP: maybe you are thinking the posts are not from real patients as you yourself did not go to Mexico. The reason why we post is to let others know what a great experience we had in a foreign country. For those like yourself that think it is a scam, hoping to make you understand that their are amazing doctors in other countries that are very skilled at this surgery. Maybe look at the posters history and the majority post on here all the time and are legitimate patients.

Scared to move on to next phase?

If you don't feel ready to progress to the next stage then don't. I took a couple of extra days at a few of the phases because I knew I wasn't ready. When I did progress I took it slowly and did fine. Don't rush it, you will have the rest of your life to eat all foods.

    Peanut Butter?

I used PB2 in my shakes but real peanut butter and nuts, not until after 6 months.
  8. you know that point can just start another thread, the children are the product of their parents, just as disrespectful and not knowing better as their parents are probably just as rude. I would probably say something smart back to the kid like, "why are you so disrespectful/rude". That would shut them up(I also don't work in daycare though).

60 lbs gone, but dang that chicken hurt!

Try cooking your meats in a crock pot, they come out very soft and tender. I would never have had chicken at 5 weeks out neither turkey meat or pork. I stuck with lunchmeats at this point. Don't rush it you will have the rest of your life to eat these foods.

Going it alone vs Going with a facilitator...

I don't think that you can go alone. The surgeons work with the coordinators for a reason and of course everything is done for you including transportation and hotel. I doubt that you would get such a good deal if you priced it out yourself.

    lap band to sleeve anyone?

I had my revision September 10, 2012 and it was absolutely the best decision I could have made. I learned all the things I needed to know: small portions/bites, eating slowly, no drinking with food, what foods to eat with the band so the transition was seamless. Reached goal weight in 6 months less a day!! Best wishes to you!!

This seems like a lot of food

This might be what you WILL be able to eat at 6 months or more. I don't think at 8 months I could have eaten all of that either. As the other poster states eat your protein first then your veggies.
  13. Yes I too am 5'10" and an apple shape!! Started at 257.8 and have lost down to 170.4 pounds. I now wear a size 6-8 and a S/M. It is absolutely fantastic!!!

    COMPLICATION ?

Wow, not sure what it can be but if you have some sort of spots sounds like you have some sort of illness. I would definitely go to the doctors today, it could be measles at worst or chicken pox. Best wishes.

Found hard place amongst the rocks

Thank you for sharing your story. I know the struggles you are going through as my Mom too, was on dialysis. I truly wish you all the best and hope that you get on that list soon. If I may ask what made your kidney's shut down? I had a co-worker who had an infection and this caused her kidneys to stop functioning; her fiancé donated his kidney to her.

Rounding the corner to the 100 pounds lost mark

I have four tattoos that I got in my 40's and each of them have a special meaning. I don't regret getting any of them. You have to do for yourself what you feel is best. Your family should be supporting you in any decision that you make. Losing 100 pounds is an amazing thing to accomplish and only you(and others who have done so) can relate. Make the decision on your own and you will definitely chose what is right for you. Big congratulations too!! You deserve it!!
  17. Well I am much older than you so the loose skin is just part of now being healthy and at a goal weight. If you have loose skin please consider plastic surgery as it will make a world of difference and well worth the cost. You have the rest of your life ahead of you so make the best of it in a "skinny" body!! Best of Luck to you.

    Realalistic goal

I am 5'10" also and for me at 170 pounds my bones are sticking out. You will know when you get to the weight if it is good for you. It is all about how you feel and look.
  19. No it does not but don't look a gift horse in the mouth, as they say, one day you will be able to eat more. Be happy that you have this restriction and enjoy the ride; and weight loss!!

Hard Boiled Eggs-How I Love Thee

I love them all ways: hard-boiled, poached, scrambled, fried, deviled. They are also such a handy on the go snack!
  21. This could be true of any surgeon; how would you know that they performed any surgery that you went in for. Dr Garcia is an amazingly skilled surgeon and price has nothing to do with his skill. I am sure he could charge twice as much if he wanted too. Best wishes to the OP.

    Honestly..

Mine was a clear thick liquid and it had no taste. No problem at all!!
  23. I think I would have my gallbladder removed to taking any medication for 6 months. Medications of any kind take a toll on your body. I agree if in Mexico the doctor will take it out for a nominal fee I would do so. I had mine out over 20 years ago and have had no problems since.

    Disolvable sutures...

At some point you will be able to give a little pull and these stitches will just come out.

    New Zealand -> Tijuana

Very happy for you and how well your surgery went. I too had Dr Garcia, he is an amazingly skilled surgeon. Please be careful about boasting about eating broccoli and tomato soup. These foods are not approved two days out from surgery. Please don't give newbies the idea that they too should/can eat these foods, you can end up in deep troubles by doing this; remember you have just had 85% of your stomach removed, follow the eating plan that your Doctor gave you. Good Luck.
