switch from lab band to gastric

There is an entire revision topic that you will get all kinds of information for band to sleeve revisions. Go to the general sleeve home page and you will find it.
  2. I agree I would challenge her to show you where she got these statistics from. I have not heard anywhere this high of à percentage. Anyone can gain Weight back it is all up to the patient, just don' let yourself be one of them.

    Will I need plastic surgery?

I think the area that may be of biggest concern is your tummy. I had a TT many years ago when I had lost weight, so I was younger but the droopy belly does not go away.
  4. I certainly don't miss being fat however for me it has currently been difficult maintaining my loss. When you have lived most of your life having bad eating habits it can be a challenge to eat in a good way. So regardless, I wouldn't trade the weight that I have lost for anything; being fat is NOT fun.
  5. I am in Windsor Ontario and went to Dr Fernando Garcia in Tijuana Mexico. He is an amazingly skilled surgeon and would do it again in a heartbeat; it really is the way to go. I don't know anyone who could wait a year and a half.

Very nervous and going to Mexico alone

I went to Mexico alone in September 2012. I had no problems at all. I was up walking right after surgery and had very little pain per say really just a little discomfort. You will definitely be meeting others who have had the surgery especially at the hotel.
  7. seems like you are stuck in the soft food stage. What happens when you eat say chicken, fish, turkey; do you chew a lot and eat it slowly?

I eat too fast, any tips?

Use small plates, to this day I still do. Measure out your food and use small utensils, this really works. Take your small bite and put down your fork or spoon. Feel your sensation when swallowing and food travelling down to your tummy, be in the moment. This will also help you to know when you are satisfied as it happens with just one bite so you need to be eating slowly to realize it.

My boobs are my best friend.

If you are sooooo attached to your big boobs maybe you shouldn't get the surgery; just saying you can't have everything.

Band to Sleeve Failure and "Desperate"

"Throwing up hungry" "the pain is back" sounds to me like it is acid not hunger. Make sure you are taking your PPI everyday this will definitely help you. I'm struggling not to eat more every day, I felt more restriction before re moved my band.... I feel so hungry, like throwing up hungry. I stop myself every time I get this hunger pangs and down a bottle of Water, but as soon as the water passes through the pain is back. I'm staying of the scale for a week and see how it pans out, working out every day and measuring everything.... something is gotta give. Thanks for sharing your story with me.
  11. Wow you do look fantastic!! And your butt oh my gosh!! I am going for my surgery in June and can only hope to have a butt that looks as good as yours. Did you have to sleep on your side for the first two weeks?

    Florence hospital was awful!

You were at the hospital, ready with 99% of your payment, having lost weight, could your family not have wired you the remaining few hundred dollars? I am just asking because you are now back to square one, you must have paid for a flight for nothing, had the time off work and so on. Sorry you didn't go through with it. I will share with you; the last time I was in Tijuana I went to see a plastic surgeon and he also measured my height; I am 5'10" and he measured me at 5'8", I think that there is something wrong with their measuring system. I was shocked also and thought, did I shrink? Of course I didn't I was measured by my doctor when I came home.

How Important Is In-Person Support Post-Op?

Sounds to me like you have a great support group. For me this website was very valuable before during and after my surgery. I went to Mexico so I did not have local NUT councelling or Doctor visits. My doctor was only an email away. I have not told anyone in my life that I had the surgery and have had no issues with this. I think you will do fine.

    Luckysmomma - 1 year later

I would like to congratulate you on your amazing weight loss, no small feat there! Now I am wondering what exactly, as others have posted, do you regret? For me I now can eat everything that I did before surgery; sliders foods a lot! If you could elaborate that would be appreciated by many.

    No pastas or breads?

If you are only 5 weeks out, after you eat your protein and some veggies how would you have any room for bread? I didn't start eating anything starchy; bread, pasta or potatoes until I reached my goal weight and even now I rarely have pasta or potatoes but do like to have tortillas, whole grain crackers and sometimes toast.

    Dr. Garcia at Florence Hospital?

I had a revision surgery with Dr Fernando Garcia on September 10, 2012 at MI doctor hospital. The staff then may be different but the doctor is an amazingly skilled surgeon and I would recommend him to everyone. Best wishes!

was told to stop the prilosec by surgeon

My stomach makes rumbling noises all the time but it is not hunger my assumption is that now with such a small tummy I can hear more clearly all the rumblings it makes. I found that acid mimics hunger so when I was taking an acid reducer I was fine. I haven't taken one now in many months and have no issues.
  20. Here is both sides of the coin. I had a lapband in 2007, I could never get the right restriction, too tight or too loose. I couldn't eat healthy foods, chicken, most vegetables, most fruit. If I tried I would vomit, I resorted to eating slider foods. Fast forward to 2012 had my revision to sleeve, FANTASTIC!! I never would have thought I would reach my goal weight UNDER 200 pounds! It has been amazing for me. Yes you have to work your WLS that you chose BUT the lapband besides being difficult to eat properly can cause many medical issues; erosion, gerd, vomiting, slipped bands and leaking ports. Don't waste your time with the band. For me I now have a $16000.00 band souvenir!!

feb 3 band removed and got sleeved

You make want to search posts regarding stalls, you are doing fine, it has only been 3 weeks.
  22. You may want to review all the posts in this section; lots of information. I had my revision, now reached my goal weight absolutely the best thing that I could have done for myself.
  23. How is the gastric tummy made to a sleeve tummy? I thought the stomach pouch is made to only hold a few ounces and then is directly connected to the bowel.

    Stomach/Waistline getting bigger

The waist seems to be the last place for the weight to come off; for me it was not until the last 15 pounds I thought it would never slim down. FYI second to the waist is the boobs!!
