In My 9Th Day On My Pre-Op Liquid Diet
scaredoftheunknown replied to KayKay20's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Oh goodness!! I have I cheated. I don't have a liquid pre op diet. I do have to lose 10 lbs. and for the life of me I can't stick to my meal plan. I am worried that I won't be able to lose the 10 lbs. in 17 days I have left. What is hard for me is that every weekend we have get togethers with friends and that's when I cheat. I don't what to stop going out, just stop cheating. oh God help me!!! Good luck with your diet, and surgery. When is your surgery scheduled for? -

Kaiser Richmond/kaiser South San Francisco Gastric Sleeve Brothers And Sisters!

I hope you have success losing the 7 lbs. I am sure you will. Did you have to wait the 2 months after you used your CPAP machine to get the surgery date? I've been using the machine for almost a week and I feel horrible. I was up with a headache and just tired all the time. When I use the machine I feel like I am out of breath. Horrible feeling . I am using it because the people in the sleep study as well as the nurse practitioner said they need to see that I am compliant with using it for at least 1 night. THanks -
Yumm!! All those ideas sound very good.

Hi!! Congratulations on not giving up on your health. I am sure you will have much success with your procedure. I too love this place everyone on here is very supportive and helpful. -
I haven't but sure sounds good. I wonder if you can google it or even do a search on the Torani website? I went looking for that flavor this morning and had no luck they were sold out of it. I am assuming it's a good one.

Newbie That Is Over It!
scaredoftheunknown replied to donewithdiabetes's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 41 and I've had diabetes for well over 10 yrs. I am diet control and had been successfully until the beginning of this year where I went up in weight eating everything in sight and of course my A1C went up to 8.9 that is when my dr. put me on metformin and glipizide and the medication made me so sick. I took it and I was in bed with nausea, and when it wasn't coming from one end it was coming out the other. My blood sugars dropped so low I thought I was going to pass out. I couldn't drive, eat or anything. I called my PHP and asked to see the endo dr. I was lucky I got in the next day. She changed the medications with no luck. At that point I asked to see a dietitian and she suggested I try the 1200 preop diet. I did it for almost 3 months, combined with 1 hr. exercise ( never exercised before) I was able to get my A1C to 6.5 with no medications... But then it dawned on me......... I am doing so well but I am still diabetic with a BMI of 36 and weighing 184 lbs. and that is when I decided I would continue with the WLS. I am hoping it helps me put an end to this. I am so tired of this. BTW. I had started the process for WLS when my blood work came back really high. I have my 2nd. appointment with the surgeon on August 17th. I am hoping I get my surgery date then. -
I can't figure out why I get very shaky and lightheaded when my blood sugar is in the 90-100's I almost feel like it's in the 60's... That same groggy, tired, shaky almost confused feeling. I am a diet controlled diabetic so I don't take medications to assume they are dropping the bs. I am on the 1000 calorie meal plan. But I am making sure I eat enough protein and carbs in my meals. The thing is my bs doesn't really drop low it's actually very good at least that's what I think when it's in the 90-100. Has anyone else experience this?

I'm glad the CPAP machine is working for you. How long have you used it for? Did it take long to get used to? -
Sleep Apnea...question
scaredoftheunknown replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I used the darn thing again last night and this time I did have several leaks and that's why I had to keep waking up. It's very annoying. I am hoping that like you that by losing weight I can stop using the machine. -

At What Weight Limit Did You Say "you Have Had Enough"?
scaredoftheunknown replied to Gonnabeslim1day's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
OMG!!! The same thing happens to me. The look at me and think I'm crazy for going thru the process of having the surgery. They say the same thing to me. "Oh! you aren't big" So I think for a while I started believing it. Oh and then the other day a friend who had RNY who lost 120lbs in 7 months Yay her!!! and has about 80 more to go. Told me where I thought I was going to lose all that weight from.. It's hard to try to make them understand the reason I'm doing this. Sigh... Hoping my surgery is sooner than later.... -
I was wondering if people who have the RNY could never have Advil or anything containing aspirin, could a person who has had the sleeve done take Advil, Aleve or Excedrine (sp?)? Thanks

When Is Your Qualifying Weight Determined?
scaredoftheunknown replied to Need-a-Sleeve's topic in Insurance & Financing
I'm going thru Kaiser and all though I don't qualify because the weight I do qualify because my co-morbidity. I am 4"11 and I weigh 184. I know thru Kaiser you have to be at least 100 lbs. over weight. Or have a high bmi (mine is 36) and a co-morbidity. I am diabetic, have high blood pressure and just diagnosed with OSA. Wishing you luck and hope they don't give you the run around. -
Post Op Otc Medication

Thanks. I thought it would be the same regardless of the type of procedure we have. I usually take Advil for pain but guess I will stock up on Tylenol. -

Sleep Apnea...question
scaredoftheunknown replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am thinking of asking for the nose one with the nasal pillows. I just can't get over how bad I have been feeling since using the machine. Don't get me wrong, I've been able to sleep with it all night it's just that something is making me feel really tired. ( I wasn't feeling this way before the CPAP) Gotta figure out what it is. -
Sleep Apnea...question
scaredoftheunknown replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do have to say that I did not use the CPAP machine last night since I have a long and busy day ahead of me I did not feel like being tired and moody. I woke up feeling great no headache not tired. I didn't even wake up once. But I will use it again tonight. I haven't heard if it does indeed help. Maybe start a new thread with that question so more people could read and hopefully answer your question.
