    What Are Friends For...no Support

Goodness our stories are very similar. You know I don't think that she understands that I am doing it because I want to be healthy. She thinks I'm doing it only to lose the weight. I have come to the conclusion that I will no longer tell her anything that has to do with my health. Before I even had my surgery date she had asked me what was going on and I texted her and told her what the dr. had told me and she didn't reply to my text she totally ignored it. I know she got it but she decided to ignore it. So since then I have not called her nor have I text her. I have also ignored her calls. I don't need negative people in my life. I have found a lot of positive people here. Thanks for your support.

    What Are Friends For...no Support

I have a similar situation except my friend was a lot bigger than I am. She had the RNY done and had no comorbities (lucky her) and has lost 120+ lbs in less that 8 months. and I am happy and was very supportive of her decision at all times. Never thought anything of it. Well because I have a high bmi, diabetes the medicine for the diabetes makes me very, very sick. My dr. suggested the sleeve and I agreed. When I shared my decision with my friend, she was all against me having it done. I was floored at her reaction. She said that it has been one of the hardest thing she has done, but she'd do it all over. That I should really think about it. Uhmm! what part of being diabetic and having a reaction to medications and dr. suggesting it did she not get? I don't know.. My surgery is in a couple of weeks and she has not once asked me again how the process is going. It's very hard for me to try to understand why she acts that way but at this point in my life she is the least of my worries. I left everything in the hands of God and if this is surgery is meant for me it will happen without any issues. My family has been supportive and that really helps me. Good luck to you.

    Bronchitis, Really?

So I started with a cough and just feeling very achy and I decided to go to the dr. because my surgery is scheduled for 9/13 and I wanted to be on the safe side and didn't want them to postpone my surgery. Turns out I have bronchitis. I am on the 5 day Z pack antibiotics. I asked the dr. if this would cause them to postpone the surgery and she said that it wouldn't. I have to get a chest xray sometime next week and I have the pre-surgery class on the 4th. I am really hoping that is isn't going to set me back.

    Thoughts Of Death

I think the fear of dying while surgery is very normal. I myself have had second thoughts about having the surgery for the same reason but I also know that not having the surgery is a greater risk of death. But if you get all the testing done, do your research and comply with doctors orders you will be fine. I am sure that you will enjoy your son and husband even more after your surgery. Not only will you not be in pain but you will have way more energy to play with him without getting upset at your self. Don't hesitate to ask your doctor all your concerns. The best of luck to you. Have you started the process yet?

    Removing Nailpolish?

Glad you are on your way to recovery.

    Removing Nailpolish?

Sannah, I do mine at home as well. I was referring to whether the dr. would be willing to go thru the hassle of finding the acetone and waiting the 15-20 min. for the polish to come off.

    What Happened To Me?

If you have a Michaels Arts and Crafts store near you check them out, they offer cheap knitting and crocheting classes.

Ugh! I am sick. I have a cold and cough. No it's not possible. My surgery date is the 13th. I know I still have days to get better but just in case I am seeing my dr. today. Do you think I'm exaggerating by going to see her, or should I just wait it out?

    Removing Nailpolish?

Yes, but how long will it take to remove? and do you think that the hospital is equipped with pure acetone for removing the shellac nail polish? I almost want to say they only need one finger nail with light nail polish or no nail polish. But then again every hospital is different.
  20. scaredoftheunknown

    Removing Nailpolish?

I'd call and ask. The shellac nail polish is hard to remove and they probably don't have what it takes to remove them at the hospital. Better be safe than sorry. You don't want them postponing your surgery for something insignificant. I know in my past surgeries they want no nail polish or artificial nails.

    Any September People

Did you keep your surgery date or did he want you to lose weight and reschedule. I am a little worried I lost the 10 lbs. the dr. wanted me to lose, I did see him and he was glad I was able to lose them. However I've gained some of the weight back. I have to go to a pre-op class on the 4th and surgery is scheduled for the 13th. hope this doesn't affect me. I got back on track on eating right yesterday. I am hoping that if I do well I can lose some of that weight by the 4th. I wonder if I will be weighed in again.
  22. scaredoftheunknown

    Why Oh Why?

Thank you. I have to wait until the 4th for my xray and blood work and then my 2 hour final class. I hope it all goes well.
  23. scaredoftheunknown

    Why Oh Why?

I have my surgery date for Sept. 13th. I know it's still OMG! I should say only 14 days away. Yickes!!!! Well when I had my final meeting with my dr. I lost the 10lbs. he requested. But I weighed myself this morning and I'm up 5 lbs. I have a pre-operation class on the 4th. I wonder if this will affect the surgery date? But what I really wanted to say is that as of yesterday I have a cold with cough. Took robuttusin with codine and caused my stomach to hurt. I am scared that this cough will linger on and when I go get my chest xray they will post pone my surgery because of the cold and cough....booo... Not feeling positive.
  24. scaredoftheunknown

    Why Oh Why?

Thanks. And you are right 14 days should be enough time for the cough to go away. I'm wondering if I should wait until after the 4th. to have my chest xray?
  25. scaredoftheunknown

    Why Oh Why?

I will very honest with you. I haven't been following the plan. It was almost like okay I want to eat this cause who knows when I'll get to eat this again. I heard this is one of the biggest mistakes one can make. But I have decided to go back on track and I am hoping that by the 4th I have lost at least 3 if not all the weight I gained. I was going to go back to they gym but I feel so tired and sick (cold). I am hoping that I feel somewhat better tomorrow and at least hit the treadmill for a bit. Better than nothing, right?
