Woobs- don't sweat the liquid phase, it's really not that bad. After surgery you're not likely to want anything other than liquids anyway. It's hard to describe, you'll just have to see. I didn't get solids until 5 weeks out and it really didn't bother me. I recommend getting some unflavored protein powder. I used both Syntax Nectar brand and Unjury. I mixed the unflavored stuff into everything: broth, juice, Vitawater, jello, etc. as far as flavored shakes go I recommend you pick up some samples. I got my samples from Unjury, Nectar and Chike. My tastes didn't change at all after surgery, that may be true for you as well. I am almost 4 months out and close to 50 lbs down. No complications, pain, issues with tolerating food, etc. this has been a great process for me so far. I feel normal, eating out with friends and at holiday meals. This is all so much better than I expected. I still have 30 lbs to lose but I feel pretty confident that it will happen. Congrats on taking control of your life! Feel free to contact me anytime with questions or for support, I'm in Portland.

Whats your fav breakfast?
Frza replied to twinsmama05's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been enjoying A sliced of Dave's Killer Bread in the light variety. I toast a slice then smear it with PB2. And a link of turkey sausage on the side and I'm good for hours! The bread has fiber and a little protein and is so tasty! -
Just checking in: I started week 4 of couch to 5k yesterday. Slowly but surely!

Telling workers or not... and rumors to come
Frza replied to beba238's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took vacation time to recovery but arranged for FMLA with our HR dept, just in case something bad happened and I needed more time off. I had a hernia repaired dying surgery and told some of my coworkers about that when I returned to work. Honestly, I was dieting pre-op so it hasn't been a shock to anyone that I'm losing weight. I I can keep the weight off this time folks may be surprised -
Here's what worked for me: Fill the bathtub with good smelling bubbles and the hottest Water you can stand. Bring a book and a 'personal massaging' device into the tub with you. I do this on nights I can't exercise. I come out of that tub 45 minutes later feeling like a new woman without a care in the world.

I'm in! I am planning to run the 5k version of Portland's annual Shamrock Run this March. I am on week 4 of couch to 5k in preparation. My main goal is to run the entire thing. I participated a couple of years ago but had to stop and walk a bit. I am 3.5 months out from surgery, down 45 lbs and feeling really GOOD!

Jealous boyfriend cannot handle my weight loss!

RUN! Seriously, get away while you can. Otherwise get ready for a long life of drama- yuck! -
I got mine right from their website. I received a follow up phone call a week later asking if I had question about nutrition or any comments about the taste of the product. Very nice customer service.

I have ordered a sample pack from Chike, it was only a few bucks!

Try low carb dieting, or a liquid diet of protein shakes. I had excellent short term success with both of those.

I can definitely see the difference! You're doing great!

Dr Aceves does not require patients to return to him for follow up, it's optional. -
Congrats, that is excellent news!

Frza replied to Speedbump's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I'm heading back to Mexicali for my follow up on Friday morning! I'll let you know what comes from that. I feel like I eat pretty fast, an possibly too much. It will be interesting to see what the docs say. Thanks for the report! -
