    Reluctant Spouse

I'm listening, but can offer no advice here. But, I'm still listening so keep advising....I also have a ...less than enthusiastic DH. I am self-pay (not easy for our family) and the extent of his support seems to be..signing loan papers... and using the word support a couple of times! If that's all I get I'll take it!!! I'm hoping for more eventually. Things would be easier with his "help". But, I'm just hoping he can keep his junk food in the work truck. He says "Why should I be penalized/punished because you want to change?" Shucks....I still love him anyway Best of luck and success with band (and spouse)!!

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

I'M TORN EAT like there's no tomarrow? or eat like I'm post-op and filled? Be bad while I still can? or show myself how disciplined I can be? Eat all the NO NO foods in the house? or trash them?(of course, I mean RIGHT before the garbage truck leaves my neighbors house, so I'm not tempted to rummage through my own garbage, after deciding to go for it before pre-op diet time!?!) Anyone else have this conflict 10 days before liquid diet time?????? Please! tell me I'm not alone!! (or if I am alone, Please...don't tell me!?!)

    Ready in Sprinfield Mo

supersized bandster--I like that I think you are like most and all the girls need a little lift!!!! Does anyone have any information on Dr. Christopher Edwards-St. John's hospital-Springfield Mo. I'm having a hard time finding the "less than desirable" goods on his work--everything I see and hear must be, too good to be true. If he is great I'm in luck.....I've never been, in luck, before so, it makes me kind of nervous. Any good bad or other would be appreciated---health to all
  7. It apperars as though there are a variety of ways they "evaluate" individuals. I have not yet heard of any patient being refused, delay, failed or denied surgery, based on psy. eval. Has anyone heard of delay or denial? (I did wonder though, if anyone could fail it would be me--I have a full past) I was given my surgery date 4-2-2007 so I guess all is good!

    Is this normal?

I'm pre-op, but doc says "a properly fitted band does not resrict alone. Fill adds restriction in controlled incriments. And that many freshly banded patients are surprised that they can eat like usual-except for swelling, irritation, sensitivity, etc... can cause some "restriction" but, nothing like a fill". (AND BOY do I hope he knows what he's talking about ha ha ha I'm about to go under his kinfe.)

7 days postop to much protein?

3.7 oz of protein that can slide down quick(like a jell-o shot)-sounds good to pre-op me! I'm already sick of thinking about gulping, sipping, chugging, or drinking protein drinks, day in, day out , for what seems like forever. I start my pre-op diet 3-19-07. I've tried some drinks already and.............they leave a little to be desired! Surely variety is the key!?!

    lap Band in Springfield Mo

Earlene-Thank you for the info. I'm excited to be working with Dr. Edwards. I found out today that my date is April 2-2007!!! I am considering going to the meeting you mentioned (others in his office mentioned it also). I am hopeful that Hubby will come too. I do wish my life did not have so many rough patches- now this wish goes out to you! Life may again become wonderful, even for Earlene!!! Thinking of you.

    time spent in hospital,on what?

There is no teacher like experience!!! Thank you all of the helpful information. I'm just a little afraid of the unknown....not going under the knife, that part I already knew about. Jack--should I expect a sore throat for months?? any prevention?? Hope you are much better now!! Thanks and good health to all.

    Ready in Sprinfield Mo

If you don't object, may I ask you starting weight-most are less than mine, 367#. Some are ALOT less than me!!! I also heard that if you wear "compression type" garments (like spanx) it helps to fight gravity and saggy! Do you think there is any truth to this? -- my doc says" maybe--try it"!

    Ready in Sprinfield Mo

Congratulations Denise!!!!!Keep up the good work. You are quickly becoming a role model. As a "yet to be banded" the enevitable question.....Though you are quite young, are you seeing the dredded saggy skin or do you have good luck so far? Any tips? I'm 34 years and>350#- I expect to be a really big loser!!

    lap Band in Springfield Mo

Ever hear anything negative about Dr.Edwards-Not yet banded but soon.
  17. I thought about WLS for several years. Went to seminar Feb.2007, misc. appointments, consults, etc....and should be banded late March2007.... LESS THAN 60 DAYS--SELF PAY!!!
  18. I would have loved to answer to a test... after two hours with a "social worker" who wants to know every personal, bad, upsetting or negative thing I've ever been through...a written exam sounds like a breeze!!! I still don't know if I "passed"! I think it is reasonable to think that we all have past, present, and future issues to deal with. Doesn't that make us normal?

    Newbie

I'm self pay (not yet banded). I had to have a consult with my sugeon, dietician, psyc.evaluation, exercise rehab., a seminar and a behavior class, written tests, and a questionair, before my final visit to set date for surgery. All this and no co-morbitities. Only thing about self-pay for me is all this started mid-Feb.2007, and I should be banded late March 2007.

    I'm New with questions

I like to think that Lapband will be a great tool, but GBypass is a last resort-no reversing there-no even if nessesary!!!

7 days postop to much protein?

Can you give more information on these "vials" of protien? They could be helpful to others. GOOD LUCK TO ALL

    I'm New with questions

MAZIEMOMMY HERE. You ask how did some decide on Lapband vs GB? I decided on Lapband because I'm 34 years young, and I asked my Dr. if a person is a candidate for either surgery, what would you prefer? He said "any one who has the ability to be active, and has time to lose weight slower and safer, he would recommend Lapband over GB. GB would be better if you had lost the ability to be active or no time to lose (so to speak).
