kjl????? made up your mind? By-pass or lapband? Hi everybody! It has been quiet around here lately! I went for fill # 5...they gave me such a tiny adjustment...I may need another. Should I go on a Friday, and hope for Doc Edwards himself to give it???? I am wanting to get back to where I was before I lost this last 30#..that fill was perfect. I wanted to be down 100 pounds by Christmas day. Happy Holidays to all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How will all of these choices affect the bottom line? $$$$$$ Is this something that you would need to consider as a priority? It would be a/THE major consideration for me/my family. If this is not such in your case.... Watch out "Panni" ...here you come! Do you mind to share, what "ball park" figures these docs are quoting? By the way/off topic...... your posts did encourage me to JOG... three minutes the first time..... and I did not need an ambulance or knee replacement that day! Thank you.

Any update from the consult yet? Did anything come up that you were not expecting? What procedures are you hoping for-- basic lower body lift? with or without "mons"? And arms with "pit only scar"---or regular longer length scar towards elbow? I have always enjoyed your input, and incouraging posts. Much luck to you on this part of your journey.

NO- I haven't tried this -yet. I have a million "reasons" in my head as to why, but when they come out of my mouth -they sound just like "excuses".

Tabitha---your issues sound a lot like the beginning of my restriction ... The "typical problem foods" were not a problem for me...in the beginning. Now I can not (hardly) eat bread/tortillas/pasta/rice/whole corn/etc.... and my full feeling is NOT the same full feeling, as pre-band! Pre-band, the fullness I would feel, was a heavy, satisfying...lower feeling than now. Now I feel a higher up, almost.... in the chest kind of pressure, (discomfort if too much)...it is satisfying, when I can recognize it early enough to stop, before discomfort sets in. If I get the hick ups---that usually means too much (Like I didn't recognize full feeling soon enough)! Or that bread etc....would like to come back up by PB. I love Mexican food...now I order an enchilada with no tortilla. I eat pizza toppings instead of the crust ...etc. I can "eat"/get down the bread, pretty well, most of the time..but after I eat it, doesn't feel comfortable , so I usually skip it. (For me, I need to really watch carbs anyway- so that's good thing I can't/shouldn't eat it.) Great to hear from you again, Tabitha, I am sorry about the slow start.....maybe you can schedule a third fill before getting a second...just to hold a spot. Dr. E. did say they may get more fill time and staff as soon as two weeks.....but on the phone, scheduling mine, they said NO WAY could I get in there earlier! She wouldn't even put me down for cancelations etc... I hope he was serious! I haven't really lost in two weeks or more...now to wait for them...I hope I gain nothing while waiting!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Legster....Never too much info. for me......I am one who always wants more info. than most are willing to offer! lol Another question...If you are not really restricted...what keeps you eating such small portions, and such great choices? Willpower? This I would not truly understand, as I have never had willpower for more than ..maybe a week at a time(always followed by three weeks of pure failure). Funny? but true!

I too have heard of him... but he is not here full time.?.Do they do surgery here in Springfield or KS? What about fills, and follow up or emergency? I was a patient of Dr. Edwards...and really love him! My Mom is finishing up her insurance requirements this week, and then the approval wait is on. She will also be going with Dr. Edwards. I set an appointment for a fill today!!!!!!! It will not be until Dec.! I spoke with him about this, and he said "very soon they will be adding another person, and more time to do more fills". I hope he was telling truth! That will be great to get in when we want/need to! That is the very worst thing about this office, is currently the wait for a fill is 3+ weeks. This should be corrected very soon. I guess I knew this already so I should have called a week ago! My bad! Tabitha- how many fills so far? And how are they doing? You sounded pretty disappointed about getting started on losing...any better now? Legster- your ticker shows great progress... what can/do you typically eat in a day? Barb??????? Bad-sheepy?????? theCapn- as far as I know, the support groups are all available to anyone, with the one exception. I hope to take my mom to one this coming Monday... Anyone going to a meeting this coming Monday..?????? If so, when and where???

I was shocked to see these are your before pics...I would love for those arms to be my after pics! I know we each feel differently about our own issues, and some have more to lose..etc. You are beautiful, and I am quite frankly- envious -of how great your arms look now!!! "NEXT STEP"... support group for lap-band and by-pass patients only, no support people or visitors, if you are at least 6 months post -op. I think 4th Monday...at surgery center class room 4a--if you get that far out and want to go, check for correct info. I have only been to one group meeting but would like to go more often. How is restriction after first fill.....and 2 fills? EVERYONE? It took four fills for me!

Diane--- I do have dial up...could you post your pics NOW...so I can see them by the 8th? hahahhahahahhahah Just eager...and waiting for visual update! The arm rubbing comes to mind at bedtime...then hubby says..quit moving around, I can't sleep! I wish I could get it in my head earlier! I would like to try it regularly...even if it sounds like work.

6 weeks after surgery are for healing -- not for weightloss! After healing, High protein/low carb diet with exercise should be a daily thing. And, life with a band is about getting help by restriction....get that band filled properly. You should be able to eat...but only a tiny, tiny meal..... three times a day! There are books and much online info. to help out (even with little help from Band Center). Sorry they seem to have banded you and then "fed you to the wolves"!!!

Think I could "sucker" my hubby into saving thousands??????? He could rub my arms everyday!!!! then we would know if it really works!!! lol....I don't think he would be so supportive! hahaha hehehe I may try it ...sounds like work to me...and I am allergic to work!

-wow- Congratulations, I know will be in order.... You will get that 10# gone NO PROB...right? My weight drops more significantly, if I do any "lifting exercises" at all. Even with 3# to 5# weights! Sometimes/some exercises I use 8# weights! Do you do any lifting in addition to the walking? Sorry to hear about the pain after the extra long walk. Good luck and great health to you.

The whole day there.... that was because I needed out and away from my house/family for the whole day!!! lol Some parts were really worth it...some were kinda' boring! Bad_Sheepy....I heard from an aquaintance that you are familiar with... her name is Debbie....I visit with her online all the time. Do you know who I'm refering to? I would have loved to have met you at the symposium! Anyone gotten a fill lately? how far out are they booking appointments now? Maybe I should call now, if I want a fill just before Christmas?????(or just after new years??? lol, this is the old me talking hehehehe)

Back to work full time? Back to pain pills full time too? I am wondering if I remember correctly...was it you Diane, that posted a pic somewhere of your arms? After a massage technique, to reduce excess skin? If it was you, could you please update me on your progress with that ..or did you stop...any more pics of this? The one I saw was very interesting...and I would like to see or hear more. Thank you for being soooo very inspiring!!!
