*RANT* How should I respond to my Sister (Re:Christmas)
maziemommy replied to TheGh0st's topic in Rants & Raves
Sorry I didn't see this when you posted it.. My family too has ISSUES! We all grin and bare it together! That is what I think family should do (TOGETHER). Comfortable or not! She is not helping anyone by being so selfish. Does she plan to one-up you on Dad's gift as well? Is she the same sister.. who in her own way... was not very supportive with your TT? Refused to see pictures, until it had you very upset. I think she likes to set you up, to stew and then confront her. Seems like she enjoys having the upper hand on all issues. SOUNDS LIKE... Once again, she has made her "prepared statement" and walked away, leaving you holding a live emotional bomb. Sorry you are having one of my typical Holidays! I Love the idea, but hate the event of holidays. Good luck and try to enjoy... Merry Christmas to you Diane -

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters
maziemommy replied to TracyinKS's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
KAT... I have noticed some color improvement since "Mom's" heart/triple bypass. Hope she is up & around a lot more soon. I had read about your issues, hope all is well now. Good health, and Merry Christmas to all of our Violets. -
Princess21... I think we were posting at the same time..... You say, you wish you knew more about the band, any questions I could answer for you, from my personal experience? I would be happy to answer anything I can / keep in mind everyone's journey is a bit different.

Hi Holly, Welcome! This is the first time I have heard of several people with this surgery, at one place. I did not know anyone with a lap-band, before I got mine. Is everyone there doing good with their bands. Does your insurance require a long wait or extra stuff? Good luck.

Thanks to all of you for the thoughts and prayers for Mom. I have been doing really well, so I will avoid the whole topic of the breads baking! Sending great thoughts to you all. -
Tabitha, I hope your visit w/Dr.E. is a pleasant one. Any newer info on fills? Is he doing them? I hope everything is alright. Congratulations Grannyk. Good luck and great health to all.

Shrinking Violets -- April 07 Bandsters

Violets.. please send thoughts and prayers to My Mom.. she was all set to get her band today... However, pre-op testing revealed that she required- immediate triple bypass heart surgery. She found that out a week ago, after failing a stress test. She has just returned home from that procedure. She is doing OK. We were told, if she had gone in for the band she would have "crashed"on the table. We are praying that she will recover quickly, and still get her band soon. She was on her first week of pre-op diet, and had lost over 22 pounds so far. Thank you all... I don't have much time, but I am always here in my heart... I have been since before my band. I don't see much updating on our spreadsheet, I DO LOVE TO SEE THE PROGRESS! Merry Christmas, and may 2008 bring much health, and success to each of you. Thanks-- Your Sister Violet, Kimberly -
I'll use those in my mind when referring to my...spouse. lol

I Love Dr. Edwards.. and Mary T. I like him so much, I signed up my Mother for her band, but she is having trouble with her heart, and is not yet able to get banded. Today(the19th) was her scheduled date for the band surgery, before complications pre-op. We will have to see what happens for her. It was about a 3-4 week wait on fills, but they have made some recent changes, and I heard it's maybe a week right now. They were only able to do fills on Thursdays..now they do Fridays too. My opinion, would be band and pregnancy will be fine. I have only one child now, and she was pre-band, I may want another later... and that was part of my decision. They can "empty" your band, if you needed for more ability to "eat for two" (just ask Dr. Edwards about it). My call back was...that my Gynecologist was all for it. (Safer than being pregnant and obese.) Who is your Gynecologist, if you don't mind to share? Good luck and ask tons of questions to doc. and to those already banded! Everyone has a different experience.

Am I making protein shakes correctly?
maziemommy replied to kimmi5207's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Not sure what your doc says but mine allowed frozen banana, blended in or berries. I have a "resses" shake recipe too... Choc. protein pudding/shake mix and blend it with 1 cup water, 1/2 cup low/no fat cottage cheese, 1 cup ice, and a table spoon low/no fat peanut butter. If your doc is strict... you could freeze your cup of fruit... and blend that in? Frozen banana always makes mine creamier. Good luck. -

Fit before surgery is a must - you can/will do it! My Mother was set for band surgery on Dec.19th.... failed a stress test as pre-op requirment, had triple by-pass heart surgery a week ago today... she was on one week of liquid diet and lost 22 pounds! (lost a little more before that too) That my have kept her alive through the heart surgery! Doc says if she went in for the band on 19th... she would have crashed on the table! Being in good shape for any surgery is a must! You can do it! Thanks for the protein advice... is beef out? I do well with shrimp.. is that good lean protein? Thanks-Kimberly -
Generally it is referring to Darling Husband, in my case Damn Husband, and in some Dear Husband...etc. You may also come across others like... PB= productive burping DD=Darling Daughter...etc. Good luck, and welcome!

Congratulations.... you have to keep us updated for that long too! lol You have inspired me to make a goal of 100 pounds lost by Christmas... I was not far away... but a little pressure never killed me. And with the Holiday cookies and candy everywhere... it's not easy. I have been jogging a little bit every day, and it is working!!! With out your posting, I would have not thought it was possible, with out total knee replacement any way! Best of luck with your continued success.... any goals before surgery you care to share? PS... I can (unfortunately) relate to the.... scrotum comment... you are not alone. Note to self... LBL/Mons lift... etc... Christmas list 2008! -
Granny- how are you doing? Princess21-welcome. Everyone.... thanks for all the thoughts and prayers, for mom. I think she will be OK. ............... AND................ I just might make it to my goal of 100 pounds lost by Christmas. woooo hoooo! maziemommy

grannyk- you will be in my prayers. Update on Mom....she is out of ICU, being hateful to everyone, so I think that means she will be OK. If she was "too pleasant" I would be worried! I was really scared for a while , but calming down now. If she had gone in for her band.... they are saying she would have "crashed" on the table. This being, non-emergency triple by-pass, it was far better odds. Heart surgeon said 6 weeks if all goes well she could still get her band. We'll see. Merry Christmas to all... may we all make sensible choices daily. Thinking of you all, Kimberly

So is the plan.. extended TT for now, and maybe more PS later? -
Update for everyone is included.... Karen...HI! My Mom...long story short, went through Aetna and got approved right away, after the 3 months. She was on the 1st week of liquids, and failed a stress test....She will be having a triple by-pass heart surgery in the morning....instead of lap-band surgery on next Wed. the 19th as was the plan. But... Mary did great work getting everything right the first time to satisfy Aetna, even though it did take three months! Good luck to you.
