Fist Time On The Scale Post-Op
gustavo52974 replied to Randgalt's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
The human stomach weighs around 2 pounds. They generally remove 85% of the stomach, right? That would mean they remove 1.7 pounds of stomach and it would now weigh .3 pounds (or 4.8 ounces). -

Macho Cheese Doritos
gustavo52974 replied to Jr425's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! As a confirmed conspiracy theorist, I absolutely HAVE to get this book now. I'm convinced that the premise of this book isn't just "theory" though. Think about it: Lay's slogan is "Betcha can't eat just one!" Hm. They're pretty much telling us that they know we can't stop eating them. I'm curious though, lollyfidy1965. How does knowledge and understanding of the process make it easier to resist unhealthful food? The disgust and horror factor? Like, I don't eat hot dogs because I learned what was actually in them. Or should I just read the book myself? -
Yes, polyamory, polygamy, and polyandry are much more common than people realize. And trust me, it can be quite a challenge to stay monogamous when it's two men in a relationship. Men can separate love from sex, whereas most women can't (sorry gals), which most people don't understand. More importantly, America seems to be stuck on its irritating, arcane self-righteousness about the whole "one man one woman" thing. But don't get me started on that one...

Sixth week out for me and I'm down about 50 pounds. Finally cleared for almost all solids except bread, pasta, rice, beef, and pork. And Holy Mary Mother of God, if I ever eat any more "soft" foods I think I'll gag.

I loved your story! And please! You should see the rainbow of people that I've dated. Everything from a closeted network news anchorman to mother's ex boyfriend. Talk about getting judged! And yes, I've dated a biker or two and I have public intimacy stories that would make your hair curl. Though, I must admit that I've never received any applause. So I have no place judging you or your chick-magnet abs.

My surgeon has a swimmer's build. I wouldn't trust a fat doctor no less a weight loss surgeon. Maybe it's a personal failing of mine, but I feel like people need to look the part. Mine was Dr. Menish Parikh in Bellevue Hospital in NYC--I haven't seen anyone else on here who went to him.

Mine is pretty straightforward: my first name plus my birthdate. I guess I wasn't too creative. I had considered RobustoTenor because that's what my voice category was when I sang opera in my younger days. I also wanted to use ConanTheLibrarian but I'm no longer muscular nor a librarian anymore.

This seems quite sensible. Thanks!

This is awesome. It certainly puts things in perspective. Has anyone tried Pop Chips?

Macho Cheese Doritos

First of all, "advise" is a verb. I think you meant to use the word "advice". But I can charitably overlook your 4th grade spelling mistakes. Second, who is mocking whom? I see no mocking here. I gave my advice, yes A-D-V-I-C-E, to the person who started this post about Doritos...what else do you want from us? Did you expect us to tell him, yes by all means, chow down on Doritos? In fact, I believe someone did! Seriously, where do you get off judging us, and misjudging us for having a little witty fun? There are so many serious, and frankly depressing, discussions on here...why don't you go find one of those to unload your screed. And I'm embarrassed for you. You come on here and tell us we're being judgmental just because we were amused by the imagery of ALL our posts on here? Are you the president of People Against Fun? Concerned Women of America? Pearl Clutchers With Shocked Faces? Damn, now I really should post the picture of my ass in chaps. Go lick your cheese puffs somewhere else. -
Macho Cheese Doritos

If I do find another pic in which you can see me better, and now that I'm thinking about I think I have one, I will DEFINITELY post it now! -
Macho Cheese Doritos
gustavo52974 replied to Jr425's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, see, you have to picture me 10 years younger, much thinner and more muscular. I've been looking, but the only pic I have of it is one we took as a group and you can barely see me because I'm in the back. And I didn't know Morgan back then. He's kind of a "new friend" now. -

Imagine if I actual did post a pic of that...you'd be scarred for life! Then there's no way you could un-see that. -
Wondering If Its Just Me...
gustavo52974 replied to jacksmommy719's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I hate to spew platitudes, but you'll never know if you don't try. Wouldn't you rather know who you are as a skinny person? I'd bet real money that once you start seeing the weight come off, you won't stop thinking about yourself becoming a strong, thin woman. Hold your head up high because you have the courage and the character to want to become a healthier you. Follow your surgeon and NUT's plan--you WILL lose weight. -

You forgot all of us dressed up as the Village People performing "Macho Man". Don't forget that. Back in my thinner days, I went as the leather guy from that group for Halloween. I think I have a pic of it somewhere... -
Marriage & Vsg...
gustavo52974 replied to jessfharris's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
A little bit of tough love here, but let's add things up: he's a drug user (yes, marijuana is a drug), he's cheated on you, he's emotionally abusive, he's controlling and doesn't want you to spend time with your family, he's a financial disaster, he'd rather you be big than thin, he's emotionally erratic, you're waiting for him to physically hurt you before you can divorce him, and you think giving him children will help things. Seriously, how many red flags do you need here? -
Macho Cheese Doritos
gustavo52974 replied to Jr425's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh darn...when I saw the title as "Macho cheese Doritos" I got a little excited. Hehe. I thought maybe there was a new brand of Doritos targeted specifically for men or something. Well, it was probably just the word "Macho" that got my attention, if I have to be completely honest. I assume that "Macho" was a result of some predictive autocorrect situation. But yes, I agree with those above that you should wait until you've developed solid healthful eating habits and follow your surgeon and nutritionists post-op food stage diet, etc. before you even think about eating junk food--you might find that you don't want those Doritos anymore after a while. You should also consider WHY you want those Doritos...and what caused you to gain weight in the first place. Emotional eating, volume eating, etc...it's important to know what got you to the point of needing weight loss surgery. Discuss this with your nutritionist, VSG support group, or maybe even a counselor. -
Adventures Of Sex Werewolf And Punch Clock Jonnie!

Despite my breast size, I'm not a woman, so I'm not sure if this is the case with men. But my sex drive didn't change at all. -
I was finally cleared for "soft crumbly & crunchy foods (crisp toast, crackers)". Does anyone know what kind of food products fall into this category? What kind of crackers do you eat, besides wheat thins?

Option For Pasta Lovers
gustavo52974 replied to Spirit Fire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
According to the website, it's almost the same as Shiritaki pasta. When I'm farther out and can incorporate more into my diet, I want to try these noodle alternatives. -
Option For Pasta Lovers
gustavo52974 replied to Spirit Fire's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I've tried it. It's virtually indistinguishable from regular Pasta, at least to my taste buds (and I'm Italian). I was able to eat 8 pieces, which was like a feast! I've heard others say they enjoy whole wheat pasta and rice pasta. If you do a search for "Dreamfields" or "low carb pasta" on here you''ll find rather lengthy discussions on the topic. -
I experience the same thing. I thought my hunger would go away more or less after the surgery, judging from what I've read on this forum. But I find if I make myself burp a lot, it goes away somewhat. Sometimes if I drink a lot of Water it gets better. I don't really know why it happens or what causes it. It's a bit of a disappointment.
