How To Gain Weight Post-Op
gustavo52974 replied to flipdmx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So this can actually be a real problem? Losing too much weight? It never crossed my mind that I could lose TOO much. Doesn't the body have some kind of fail safe to prevent this from happening? 130 pounds sounds like an extreme amount of weight to lose in just 10 months. What was your starting weight? How much weight did you initially want to lose? Do you have any idea why this happened? I can't imagine that your surgeon's only advice would be to drink alcohol. -
Biotin For Hair Loss

Have any men experienced this type of hair loss? -
How? I can't find it.

I'll say this: sometimes there's a very fine line between love and a waste of time.

I came out United States at my current weight! ...ha! that's hilarious. Ironically, I came out United States at my goal weight. Jeez...if I were any thinner than my goal weight, I'd look like I just walked out of Auschwitz.

I avoid sugar as much as I can. For some reason, if I have any meaningful amount, I feel like I'm going to explode. I try not to think of carbs and just get as much Protein as I can. And if I never hear the word "carb" ever again, I'd die a very, very happy man.

Whoever invented Laughing Cow Cheese deserves a medal or some kind of international recognition like the Nobel. I seriously want to shake his/her hand. I want to have their child.

Am I Able To Do This?
gustavo52974 replied to Cresteds Mom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon and NUT told me to do liquid for 4 weeks following surgery. After reading this board, I know now that they were being conservative, but they really wanted my stomach to heal properly. Whatever...each surgeon seems different. Blah. But I did do it. I had only liquid for 4 weeks. I gritted my teeth the whole time and cursed a lot. I even threatened to rip out my husband's esophagus and strangle him with it if he had another hamburger in my presence. My first taste of "solid" food was a tablespoon of cottage cheese. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever tasted. I almost cried. Now I look at that hamburger and I don't miss it at all. I would have NEVER, NEVER thought that was possible. But I did it, and I'm not that strong of a person. It won't be easy. But if I can do it, so can you. -
Uggh ! The Nerve Of Some Ppl !

I hope the look of shock and horror on your face shut her up! And I assume she has a body like Pamela Anderson circa-Baywatch. No? Then she shouldn't be all mouthy about it. When I can, my response to that kind of rudeness is usually, "I don't remember asking your opinion," and then walking away. -
Having Boy Problems, I Feel Bad For You Girl...
gustavo52974 replied to hannah's topic in The Gals' Room
From what I've seen, and as my own experience as a man, women can't change men, at least not with successful results. If a man wants to change, he changes. But trust me, it usually takes an act of god to make him decide to change. -
Having Boy Problems, I Feel Bad For You Girl...
gustavo52974 replied to hannah's topic in The Gals' Room
Your boyfriend must have a fantastic body for him to be so judgmental and critical of yours. Is he a gymnast or bodybuilder of some sort? A male model? Ripped abs? He must be smokin' hot! Seriously though...I'm no psychologist, but it seems to me that if you're with this guy, you probably don't feel like you deserve better. But you DO deserve better, don't you? And you subconsciously know this is true or you wouldn't be trying to improve yourself with this surgery. -
I Love How We All Have Positive Vibes!
gustavo52974 replied to jessfharris's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I wish I had found this forum sooner, but I didn't discover it until after my surgery. I feel like all of you are my "virtual family." The surgery is one of the best things that has happened to me. I look at my profile pic (taken before surgery) and I want to barf. For god's sake, I was a B cup! -
Half Way To Goal Weight!
gustavo52974 replied to IrishSoul's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That's terrific! You should be proud of yourself. I'm really looking forward to being "half the man I used to be" as well. Hehe. -
Remember the sanctity of marriage. I'm willing to bet that you said something like, "Till death do us part", or "As long as we both shall live" when you made your vows. This might just be my opinion, but I don't think vows are something one should abandon when they become inconvenient.

Where are all my NYC people

I also had Dr. Parikh at Bellevue. I live in NYC: my neighborhood is Hell's Kitchen, which is somehow appropriate to this situation, don't you think? -
40 Hours Before Surgery And I Am Getting Cold Feet! Help!
gustavo52974 replied to TiredOfChubRub's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
From what I've seen on here, and from my own experience, having cold feet is normal. When I was lying in the hospital bed waiting to be brought into surgery, I started muttering to myself a bunch of four-letter words followed by, "What the hell am I doing?!?!?!" I was scared and nervous. But then I thought about all the time I spent considering the surgery (I had to wait six months because of my insurance) and how confident I was about my decision before I was lying in that bed. I decided I had to trust my pre-operation-day self and the clear-headed mindset I had had when I made the decision. It helped me put aside my fear. I don't regret my decision in the least. -
I watched the video on the Miracle Noodle home page and it said that the noodles "expand slightly" in the stomach. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to have something "expand" in our sleeve since we don't want the sleeve stretched out.

Mine did as well. In fact, he told me to avoid all juices.

Treated Different......
gustavo52974 replied to M_Johnson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was mortified by her behavior. Passive-aggressive, catty, mean-spirited, unprofessional, un-classy, un-ladylike...call it what you will but fair is fair: she didn't say it to be informative--no one asked her opinion. She did it to make herself seem better than the other women. And they hate her because of it. It was an object lesson of how not to treat others. Her behavior WAS obnoxious, and my opinion of her dropped. -
11 Days Off Work Enough?
gustavo52974 replied to Laceyloveland's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
By 11 days I was pretty ok. My stomach still hurt a bit, but I was off pain meds by that point. I'm not sure I was ready to go back to work at that point since still felt a little weak. I'm an attorney, so my job isn't physically demanding. -
Pet Peeve - Update Your Stats
gustavo52974 replied to SpecialK1960's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I totally agree--I love to see people's progress. I try not to compare them to mine because everyone is different and everyone will lose weight at different rates. Body type, height, starting weight, etc. plays a big part in weight loss. But it's hard not to be a little disappointed when I see someone losing faster than me. I'd still rather see people's progress than not though. -
11 Days Off Work Enough?

My surgeon told me to take two full weeks off to be safe. I'm glad I did. -
Remember...once on the lips, a lifetime on the hips! But you should be VERY proud that you made the right choice. It's probably an indication that this tool will be successful for you.
