    Chinese food....yuck

A few days ago, I marinaded shrimp with an Asian style marinade. When I took it out to cook it, the thought of having to ingest it and the smell was just too much. I used to love Chinese food. I could eat it everyday, several times a day, but post-op the smell makes me want to vom. I hope it is temporary, if not, my foodie days are over.

    5 days post op

We were both sleeved on the same day and I am feeling exactly the same way right now. My surgeon allows only two substances for 2 weeks post-op, one 8oz optisource(split into four 2oz servings) and 2 liters of calorie free beverages. That adds up to about to <30 grams of protein, <250 calories, and one hungry girl. I am thinking to add some syntrax nectar to my fluid intake. I know that is technically cheating but if I don't up my protein I may be tempted to do something more drastic. Best of luck. I feel your pain.
  3. Wow...mind blown! If I wasn't done with this forum before, I sure am now. The vultures can fight over the scraps. It's not worth wading through the irrelevant bickering, constant pettiness, and often über sexual exchanges, to get to the substance of these forums. It's truly unfortunate. 4. Originally, when I started researching I didn't find anyone who used the same insurance. So,I figured I would sum up my overall experience with North Carolina's State Employee Health Plan through BCBSNC for the next person. I started my journey on Aug.16. I was not required by insurance to do any supervised diet. All that was required was extensive previous attempts, a 5 year weight history, and your typical BMI requisites. I had my decision visit on Tue, Dec. 18 and they submitted to insurance that day or the day afterwards. My doctor told me they usually have a turnaround of about 7-14 days. So, I definitely wasn't expected anything anytime soon. I just received the call to schedule my surgery. I was approved in 3-4 days. No hassle, no problem. For now, they definitely made me care less about the sky-high co-pays + coinsurance.

I choose the right surgery. Right?

I think he just shook my confidence a little bit. He was selling the bypass like a used car and I started to fall for it. I experienced the bypass and the complications involved when my mom had surgery. Not to mention she's 3 years out and only lost and kept off around 70 pounds and she had less to lose than I do. I know the bypass is not for me but he just stirred up an irrational fear. Maybe he is just low-balling his estimates to err on the side of safety. I just need to focus on what I want and work hard. THANKS!
  6. Just got home from my decision visit. My surgeon tried soooo hard to convince me to sell my soul to the bypass("You'll never make under 200 pounds with the sleeve"/"You'll only lose 75-100 pounds"/"Bypass gives you reasons to not eat poorly or overeat, the sleeve doesn't" ), but I stuck to my guns. The decision has been made, but I don't know... He definitely planted a tiny, nagging seed of doubt in the back of my mind. Now I picture myself six months from now and still fat. I'm kind of running a reoccurring nightmare scene in my head right now, I get surgery and I lose little to no weight. Anybody else experience this? I was so sure before he walked in that room. I know I tend to be a little indecisive about trivial things, like dinner and what to wear but not this. I'm rambling, I know. Ugh. I guess the sleeve is only as successful as I make it. No one has gotten this surgery, ate correctly, and exercised only to fail. Right?

    Starting Video Blog

I liked and subscribed. I've been thinking about doing Youtube videos. Maybe one of these days I'll scrape up the courage to actually do it.
  8. All my preop appointments are over. Now time to get my weight history and wait for insurance approval. I'm so excited. :)

    Weight Gain With Birth Control

I really want the paraguard over mirena because I had a really bad reaction and gained lots of weight on bc pills. Hormones are not for me. I have a fear the iud will move or I will get pregnant around it. I am hesitant to trust paraguard alone for this exact reason and I don't want to have to use a backup form of bc forever. Nadz, did you check your string monthly and this still happened?
  10. My 1st appointment is on the same day. I'm super EXCITED and ready for this. I most worry about the 6 month diet, hopefully its 3 for me. I hope everything goes well for you. Its almost time to take that first step toward a permanent healthy lifestyle.
