  1. Happy 34th Birthday Bresmom129!

  2. Hi. I am new to this forum. I went with my dad to a WL seminar in January to support him. Going to the meeting and hearing other people's lifelong weight battles really did something to me. I found out my insurance would cover the surgery and from that moment I was hooked, lined and sinkered. I began the process in January. I went to a nutritionist and had a psych eval. I also had to have an upper Gi test done. I was jumping through all the hoops I had to. I was scheduled for surgery on July 17th at 9:30am. I had to have pre op testing the day before. I had bloodwork, an EKG, a pregnancy test. They sent me home with a special soap to use 3 times before surgery. My husband got me to the hospital at 7:30am. They took me right back to pre op and had me change into a hospital gown and hooked me up to an IV. The anathesiologist came and told me that they were going to put me to sleep and put the band and the port in and then wake me up. The doctors and nurses at memorial hospital were great. My surgeon, Dr. John Deperi came in and asked me if I needed anything. He explained that the procedure would be less than an hour and that I wouldn't remember much. The last thing I remember is them asking my name. I woke up in the recovery room and the surgeon asked me if I was ok. I said my stomach hurts and he called he nurse over to give me some pain meds. My chest was hurting the most and they told me that it was from the gas they used and that lasted about a day. Getting up and walking around alleviated some of it. I was released the same day. I haven't slept much because it still hurts a lot. I'm glad I finally did it and I'm looking forward to my new life.
