Confused After Seminar
BandedBettyBoop replied to michmcpher31's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Michmcpher31 I have the same thought process. This is more of a preventative measure so that I won't have those crazy issues later in life. Good luck to you in your journey. Your girls are lucky to have a mom who cares! -
Whey Protein/ Lactose Intolerance
BandedBettyBoop replied to BandedBettyBoop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks rkimom. It just sucks because I can't return this Protein shake anywhere. The doc office supplied it ($350 program fee). I just looked up the stats on Isopure & looks like my best option. Thank you SO much for the suggestion. Any flavor preferences? I feel like I've failed my pre op diet on day 1. I've only gotten 1 "meal" in and its out! :-( rough day! -

Day 1 Of Liquids Completed!
BandedBettyBoop replied to RichGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The tea sounds great. I just vomitted. I think from the Multivitamins I'm taking. I took 2/4 chewable Vitamins with Jello. I think I need to stick to taking the vitamins with a meal! I haven't thought of making my own chicken broth. I went out and bought some. That's a good idea though. My pressure cooker would work wonders on making a stock. Hmm... I don't live with family, but I am allowed 1 meal per day with 4 oz of meat cheese and/or egg with a half cup of veggies. So I could use the chicken! -

Your Last Supper......
BandedBettyBoop replied to FLORIDAYS's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Change of plans. I've decided not to do a crazy last supper. I'm going to a concert tomorrow instead. I have to start having more experiences that don't revolve around food. But I'm sure I'll have a last drink! -
Pre-Op Diet, Excuses For Not Eating...
BandedBettyBoop replied to BandedBettyBoop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good news! My boss cancelled on me. He's working with me tomorrow. Pre-op diet starts Thursday, I'm all good! Thanks for all of your suggestions! -
Pre-Op Diet, Excuses For Not Eating...
BandedBettyBoop posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What's the best excuses you have for not eating? I work with my boss Thursday and Friday this week. He doesn't know I'm getting lap band. He thinks it's a lady thing (his words, not mine, I just said it was personal). My pre-op diet starts Thursday. I'm in sales so we typically have sit down lunches at various resturants. I am excited to get pre-op diet started, but I want to use an excuse that makes me not eating LESS awkward. Any suggestions? -

Happy Election Day! Now That's Outta The Way... Anxiety About Surgery...
BandedBettyBoop posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Today I had my mandatory education class with my bariatric center. OMG. I thought I knew what I was getting into, but apparently not! So much information. My surgery date is 11.29.12. First smack in the face was finding out that I wouldn't be in the hospital one day. I thought I'd go in the morning and be out by the afternoon. Nope! One night guaranteed stay in the hospital. Something about this announcement made me scared. Not sure why. I shouldn't be afraid since I AM ELECTING to have this surgery! I'm sure it's normal, but I just spent the last hour looking at youtube videos to remind me WHY I want to do this. I'm feeling a little better. Second smack in the face was hearing the questions being asked by people in my class. All I can say is some people really don't need to waste their money or their insurance company's money on surgery. If you are asking about cheese whiz and soda and your surgery is in 2 weeks...something is wrong! Someone actually asked "What if I can't do the pre-op diet? I'm traveling out of town." Third smack: Pre op diet, post op 2 day diet, post op 3-14 day diet, 1st 3 month diet, etc. Geez, my head is spinning! Thank goodness they've given me a cd with all of the slides they went over because otherwise I'd be in trouble. I was taking notes like I was in college again. Definitely feeling a bit anxious about the next month. Anyone else feeling the same way? -

thank you thinkt2013! this helps me! I really am consumed with all of the pre-op jazz. My mind is swimming. Today I bought a food scale, Fiber gummies, and baby spoons! lol I think I'm overwhelmed because I know there's a lot of stuff that has to be done. But I didn't think about the benefit of having staff around to help with the initial consumption of liquids/meals. Thanks for slowing me down a bit. NNicole209 people are so dumb. I know they say "there are no stupid questions" but they lied. -
6 Month Supervised Diet
BandedBettyBoop replied to WeberStudent's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in the same boat. My BMI was 42 & now I'm at 38. My doctor said I needed to lose at least 15 and I lost 20 in the 6 month diet. I was approved with no problems. No one ever told me not to lose "too much" as long as your weight history reflects an qualified BMI I think you should be ok. Just focus on starting good habits. -

I've been on myfitnesspal since May (lost 25lbs!). I have no friends though I'm interested in friending some ppl who are in pre-band 2 week diet or banded in the last 6 months or so. My surgery is scheduled for 11/29. Hopefully this will give me the boost I need. PM me for my MFP username. Thanks in advance! -
Keeping It A Secret
BandedBettyBoop replied to 4sweeties's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just told my parents last night. I'm 28. I think they were in shock because they didn't ask nearly as many questions as I had anticipated. Maybe it was my delivery? "Oh, yeah, I'm getting a lapband" Very nonchalant. My mom's response was "no you're not! You know you can't drink alcohol with those things?" #classic -
Aetna Approvals...
BandedBettyBoop replied to BandedBettyBoop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks! I'm the same way. I've been reading threads for the last couple months, just trying to absorb as much as I can. It's the most responsible thing we can do, research! -
So... from I've read in the forums over the past week or so, it seems that Aetna approves pretty quickly if you're going to be approved. The waiting game comes when you're going to be denied (or more likely to be denied). Is this a fair generalization? I know every case is different, but I sensed a bit of a pattern. Still waiting on my approval, it's only been 1 business day.
