Hi Ladies! Just thought I'd put a message out there. How is everyone's journey so far? My surgery is Thursday and I'm in pre- op diet hell :-)
-
I have lost 75 lbs. I have pics posted online of my progress. I'm proud and have found that ppl I don't even know are inspired by my weightloss. So I keep posting about my journey. Here's the crazy part. I have a select number of "friends" who will comment on photos and text me nutritional advice. I know in my heart they are just trying to help. But HELLO?!? I LOST 75 LBS! I think I know how to lose weight. And guess what eliminating egg yolks (one recent tip given) ain't it! I just think it is rude to give advice that wasn't requested. And it is a little condescending to my work thus far. Does this annoy anyone else? Or does it just happen to me?

I don't know about throwing food, but I have wished I could have more of something. I chalk it up to "fat person thinking". Remember this journey is mostly mental. -
It will slow down, but consider adding exercise if possible. It helps!

Ha! Maybe I should Tara! I'm like I've lost this much weight without your two cents so, keep them. Plus where was all this advice when I was heavier?! Lol 2012 I always say I have a plan with my doctor and I'm good. After I gave that response someone recently told me, "well do you mind if I give you a different plan than what you're doing?" Um YES! Sharpie I LOVE EGGS! I eat them at least once a day. Thanks Kll! -
I started it last year and had to quit bc it made my knees hurt really bad from impact, plus the weight I was carrying. I actually just tried it Thursday, since I've lost weight and about 50 lbs later, its more manageable. It's still tough. I'm not following the full program everyday but will start to incorporate insanity in my weekly routine.

I'm 3 months out and have lost 33 lbs. I think.we are right on track! To lose more, incorporate exercise or more exercise. I'm about to turn it up a notch myself :-) I would ask your doc about your discomfort. I can lay on my stomach.with no problem, but occassionally I do have port pains. I think it is all a part of healing. Best of luck!

You can always use weights ON the treadmill to crank up the intensity. Nothing crazy, 10-25 lbs and do curls, punches or shoulder presses on a steep incline intermittently. You may need to slow down your speed. a good way to jazz up your cardio!

Why are you scared? Just go in and work on you. You have no reason to be afraid. One thing about the weight loss journey everyone must learn is that you have to be strong and courageous. If you aren't, fake it until you are. Courage is what will help you to make better decisions at the family dinners, ask the waiter for modifications to your order. It will also help you to go to the gym. Call planet fitness beforehand and set up a training session. The trainer will introduce you to the equipment and help you to develop a blueprint for your workouts. After that, focus on you and no one else while you are there. Good luck!

I wouldn't risk it. Too soon. But you can always call your doc.
-
If you have a smartphone, download the Nike Training App. You only need a couple dumbells. I like it when I can't make it to the gym. It's free and flexible.

I've started working out at the gym. I wear a heart rate monitor so I know how many calories I burn. I also use myfitnesspal to monitor my food intake. If I eat 800 calories in a day and burn 500 during a workout, is that going to be a problem? 300 calories net seems too small of a #. I'm not sure though. I'll see my doc on Feb 1 for my 2nd fill. I'll ask him then but just thought I'd throw it out there to you guys. Thoughts? Also I am 6 weeks postop

Lapband and that time of the month??

It was a slippery slope. I originally green-lighted myself for 3 crackers... so, yeah... -
Lapband and that time of the month??
BandedBettyBoop replied to Tina Ramirez's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I ate 10 Ritz crackers yesterday because I was craving carbs something terrible. 2 months post op. Craved a lot of other things but didn't let myself go there. Planning to exercise later today, hopefully that'll help. Even though I don't want to! -
Can banders have melatonin? I know my doc said no ibuprofen, bc pills or naproxen. But we never talked about melatonin. Warm tea isn't helping.
-
Yup tried tea 2012. No dice. Tylenol pm would be permitted, may have to get some. Thx Steph.

Awesome! Congrats!

Sooo I'm finally seeking help with my weight issues
BandedBettyBoop replied to PrettyGirlJey's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
If you don't feel comfortable telling people don't! I didn't tell most of my close circle and family friends until I had a surgery date. Do what's best for you. Congratulations on deciding to take control over your life and make your situation better. There's so much freedom in that. As far as skipping the pre-op diet I wouldn't make plans for that. First, you don't know what your surgeon will require (they're all different). second, use the pre-op diet as a time period of learning. Learn everything you can about the band, the nutritionist is a good idea. But I urge you to not try to rush through the process. Embrace the time. Best of luck. -
Two Questions.....
BandedBettyBoop replied to Sunnyd623's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I drink right up to the point where I'm about to start eating. If I'm in a restaurant I push my water glass away. If I'm at home I don't sit down with a glass. It's awkward in the beginning but you adjust quickly. Best of luck. -
Thanks all!
