Food Doesnt Go Down Very Well
MamaJaa replied to addimom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
yeah thats normal, I'm 2 months post op and I still have pain from time to time especially when trying something new -
The leakage is normal but I would still ask a nurse. My drain ports hurt too for a few days but after that they were just irratateing, they rub the skin. As long as you don't see pus or smell something nasty I wouldn't be worried about infection. They pumped you antibiotics durring surgery believe me. Hope you feel better soon. Hang in there.

Maybe you should stick with liquids for a fee more days then try again. The painful swallowing is normal for a while but if your in a lot of pain and vomiting too maybe your stomach needs some more rest before you go with solids. -
That's normal, painful swallowing will last a few weeks but gets better with practice. The gas thing will go away in a few days once your peristalsys normals itself out. Just keep yourself on a schedule especially with your protein & liquids. You will feel better soon.

When Will I Feel Better
MamaJaa replied to pebbles99's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, get as much rest as your body asks for. Just because the Drs and insurance companies rush you out of the hospital does not mean you should be back to being superwoman the next day. I'm 6 weeks post op and some days are still hard, some days I don't want to eat, I'm lazy to deal with the pain. The tiredness will go away in a few weeks. Protein and vitamins will help. Just take it easy -
3 Weeks Out And So Tired!
MamaJaa replied to totlyspld's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Totally normal, don't even think about the gym right now. There's different kinds of clear protein drinks you can buy, it will help with the tiredness. Isopure is a good one, cytosport is another, they're like drinking kool aid. But just take it easy, you have a new organ, its no small thing, give yourself a break. -
Day 4 Post-Op - Some Questions
MamaJaa replied to abbybeep's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe you need to stick with clear liquids for a week or two. Give your new stomach some time. Hot feels good, tea, broth, warm liquid jello. Just give it some time. -
Curious- What Is Everyone Elses Diet Post-Op?
MamaJaa replied to GoState's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 2 weeks post op on an IV only, nothing going in my mouth. 2 weeks on clear liquids, the next 2 weeks soup and milk, nothing thicker than that. Then yogurt, chunky soups and pureed stuff. I'm 6 weeks post op and just starting solid food, and I could not imagine eating any sooner than this. -
When Will I Feel Myself Again?
MamaJaa replied to polandspring's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 weeks post op, I just got back to the gym. It takes time. You have to be kind to yourself. You have to look at it like you have a brand new organ, let your body get used to it. The getting tired easy thing will last until you can get some vitamins and protein in you. The tired after eating thing I still have, like my stomach sucks all my energy to digest. But it will get better. It's a process, just have paitence with yourself and its not laziness to rest after a major surgery. Don't feel pressure to jump back into life so soon. Take it easy, you don't want complications. -
How Painful Was The Surgery?
MamaJaa replied to AdeptDreamer's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You will be as we say sleeping on the bus for a while. As in inclined on pillows, so bring your own comfortable pillows. Your getting a new organ basically so everythings going to feel weird for a few weeks, gas seems to go the wrong way, I had some cramping from the esophagus down for a while, but it works itself out. The heartburn however is the kicker. Prilosec is your new best friend -
I'm about 5 weeks post op and was having bad constipation until last week when I started to have very bad diareah. Yesterday I took imodium, I was in pain for hours, it reminded me of first few days post op pain and cramping, it lasted for hours. Has anyone else has this reaction to certain meds? Just curious.
