Don't stress yourself out over it! A few hours after your throat may be sore. Get some Popsicles!! It really helps. Make sure to have time to get rest. The lasting effects of the medicine made me sleepy! My nap was fantastic when I came home after. Lol. Good luck.

My surgery was yesterday, and all things considered I'm doing fantastic! I, unfortunately, had a horrible case of nausea and dizzy spells. 2/4 times they had me get up I fainted. On the bright side my pain level is fantastic! I was so worried I wasn't going to be able to handle it. I was such a wuss after my gall bladder surgery. My nursing staff here have been absolutely amazing. Has anyone else received a pillow from the hospital that allow your visitors and staff to sign while you are here and then take it home?? I was pleasantly surprised and thought it was a great idea! I am also a breast feeding mom and everyone, including my surgeon, have been a great help allowing me to still nurse and making sure I wasn't having any problems. I must say this has been the most pleasant experience I could have imagined and I'm not going to deny it has made me a little emotional. It has also helped coming on here throughout the night seeing that not ye only one that has gone through some of the things I experienced in the past 24 hours and it has helped me a lot. So a big thank you!!

I'm sorry your friend didn't understand. I lost 2 "close" friends of mine over my decision. I have another friend who almost mimicked yours, but she has been my most supportive friend. After having those reactions I didn't post to the world on FB about my decision till 2 days before my surgery. I did not get 1 single non supportive comment. It really made up for my first experience about sharing my decision. I wouldn't let anyone's reaction influence your decision, and that's advice to anyone who is receiving mixed reactions. Congrats to your decision to a healthy, happier new you!

Goo luck to my fellow 14thers! I'm waiting for surgery now. I think the waiting is the hardest part! I can't wait to be on the other side of this.

My surgery is tomorrow as well! I am a bundle of nerves. I'm more stressed now than I was at the end of both my pregnancies! I had to tackle the 10 day preop and I'm so glad I made it through. Good luck in the morning!!

Good luck! I'm 530 am with surgery at 730 on Tuesday. I hope you are getting sleep tonight! I'm not and I still have another day to get through. Lol Congrats!

I really appreciate the reply! I'm on a 10 day preop diet and it has really put it in perspective for me. I know EXACTLY what you mean about the mental hunger. I'm always hungry... Mentally. That's how I got to the weight I am at! That is interesting about the size of your sleeve. It's something to ask before he takes me in the OR. I will take your advice on the artificial sweets. I will start out organic so I don't stay attached to the artificial stuff. Traveling is very difficult when it comes to dining. That is one struggle I'm not looking forward to facing come vacation time!

I live in central Colorado springs. How has post op been for you?
-
Congrats on your surgery! Hope recovery went well! I will be sleeved aug 14. Coming up quick. What part of Colorado are you in?

I am so glad you asked this! I swear my husband is supporting the surgery in hopes that our sex life increases. When I asked him today what he was thinking about after we left my preop appt, he says "how soon after you come home can we try? It's not like when we had the baby was it?!". I died laughing. So I hope it does because I will have a very devastated hubby moping around all the time other wise.

I'm on day 6. Surgery for me is on the 14th. I have no more cravings and I have lost 12 lbs. 4 more days to go! I did cheat the first day. The first 3 days were the hardest for me. I thought of food, I dreamt of food... Now I don't care. I'm not reaching for snacks, but a bottle of water. I have come a long way in 6 days. Good luck to everyone!

3rd day in to the pre op diet. I am at the point of dreaming of eating unhealthy foods. Even in my dreams I can't escape! I am so hungry, or at least think I am hungry. When will this pass? It is making these 10 days before surgery pass very very very slowly.

When I broke the news to my family and close friends I had received mixed reactions. I lost two "close" friends and my family is supportive. My gym buddies stopped going to the gym with me because they didn't want my quick weight loss depressing their efforts. The kicker... My surgery isn't till aug 14th! I decided not to post it on FB. If someone wants to know my weight loss secret, I will tell them. If they don't like the answer, that's their problem. I'm happy and excited about my decision and that's all that matters

At What Weight Limit Did You Say "you Have Had Enough"?
alliemm replied to Gonnabeslim1day's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Pregnancy was my final straw. At 309 lbs and 5'10 I was considered high risk from the start. I barely have any pregnancy photos because I couldn't believe how large I was. After delivery I was 348 and miserable. Since then I have been having one health issue after another. So my son was a week old when I start weight watchers which was oct'11. Started my 6 month insurance journey, and have surgery scheduled aug 14. I am so excited and I will never see 300 hit my scale again. -
Hey August Sleevers! Put Me On Your List! Aaahroo!
alliemm replied to Gr8rLuv4Me's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm scheduled the 14th as well here in CO with Dr. Fisher. I am feeling like that is going to be my lucky day from now on. I am so excited that I can barely contain myself. My big thing is how to survive my 10 day preop liquid diet, which I start tomorrow! Begin mental stress overload in T minus 28 hours and counting. Good luck to you!! -
Penrose seems to have the main support group I can find. I'm pre op waiting on my last appt before scheduling the big day. I would love to find fellow bandsters so I have the support. My family is supportive, but they really have no clue what I'm going through. Most of the people I met at classes were going either for sleeve or gastric. Let me know if you find anything!
