6 Weeks In And No Success :'(
Kime-lou replied to saritin81's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Talk to your doctor or a psychologist about the anxiety. I to have horrible anxiety. I am currently taking an antianxiety med that is working wonders for me. Between getting my anxeity under control and getting the band which is helping me lose weight I feel better than I have in 10 years. Get help with the anxeity and things will get better, I know, mine almost paralized me a year ago, but the meds have me back out and going strong. -
That Time Of The Month....
Kime-lou replied to Secondchanceatlife's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yepper, I am starving during that time. Thank goodness for skinny cow products- the icecream bars and the cheese satisfy my need for sweet without killing my diet. I also had a lot of water weight gain during that time. -
Thanks- It's just frustrating. In the last month I have only lost 2lbs. I am eating so much less than I ever have yet the weight doesn't seem to want to come off. I go back for another fill this week, yet I don't know if she will give me one. I am not getting hungry much and I am eating a cup to 1.5 cups at a time. I will talk to my doctor and see what he has to say.

7 wks post op tomorrow and down 24lbs. I know that 24 lbs is good especially since I am not at my sweet spot, but I still feel like it is coming off slowly. I am doing well keeping to 900-1100 calories a day. I have given up soda, coffee, fried food and haven't missed the one bit. I no longer drink during meal, which I thought would be horrible. I am counting my calories on myfitnesspal and I am working out 4 days a week on our elliptical and lifting weight a couple of days. I opted to park further away from the door at stores. The way I eat, cook, heck live have all changed in the matter of 7 weeks and I don't feel like I am missing out on anything. For the first time in my life I have will power. Today I went to a work meeting and they had coffee and donuts. I turned them down and was happy with my propel and my fiber one 90 calorie cookie for my mid morning snack. While the donut looked great, I knew I didn't need and and wasn't hungry for it. The only thing that makes me say hmmmmm...... is I seem to lose a half pound a day Saturday thur Monday and then the rest of the week I don't lose an ounce. What in the world causes that? My water consumption doesn't change. My calorie count stays in line. Yet each week it's the same pattern. I am loving my new healthier life, but still learning the ropes of living the life.

One Week Post Op - What Is This Pain??
Kime-lou replied to newbie9's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had the same thing and it lasted 6 weeks. Now is it slowly going away and I hardly notice it now. Not only are muscles moved about and stiches put into muscle, a foreign body is now in your body- it takes a while for your body to adjust and realized everything is fine. -
Does anyone have a fitbiit that works with my fitness pal? I am wondering how well it really works. I would buy one if I thought it was really good. If you have one please give me the low down.

Pics Of Oversized Clothes
Kime-lou replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Awesome job and what an inspiration to those of us coming behind you. Can't wait to have my clothes falling off of me. I have been this large for about 10 years so I don't even remember what being a healthy weight would look like on me. -
I discussed it with my honey before hand. We both liked to eat and liked to indulge. After my hubby went with me to the info session he decided he wanted to get healthier to. Even though I am the only one with the band, he is eating smaller portions and drinking less soda. If your hubby/sweetie is willing to be supportive it will not be a big deal. You don't have to be eating to talk. I don't put food on the talbe (family style) I help our plates from the stove and take them to the table. Once we are finished eating we will sometimes just sit and talk. So my advice is have a real heart to heart with your sweetie.

Help!! Im Six Weeks Out And Everything Has Been Fabulous..untill Today
Kime-lou replied to amanda01331's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do what elcee does. Each morning when I wake up I weigh. I am happy as long as I don't see an up. I am 7 weeks post op and the only up I have seen was just before my TOM and that came off after it was over. Don't fret to much over one day, but if it happens for a week call your doctor or nutritionist. -
I am not interested in taking these, just kinda concerned about my neice taking them.
-
Have any of you heard of HCG drops? I thought HCG was a pregnacy horomone, but I am seeing a few of my friends post of facebook that they are dropping weight by taking HCG drops. My niece who is 18 was bragging that she has lost 23 lbs in 18 days - it took me a month to lose that after surgery- WTH? Any one know how this stuff works or have heard of it?

I am just 6 weeks post of and have lost 23 lbs. While that is great and I happy to have lost it and that my clothes fit better, I am having a fat day. While I know I am still fat (221), I want the feeling of feeling better about myself to come back. The change.... negative people. I work with several banders, one succesful at 60lbs lost, and 2 unsuccesful. The unsuccessful ones think I am crazy for doing it because it doesn't work. The one that has lost 60lbs and kept it off seems to have an attitude now. She keeps telling me that I won't be able to lose the 100lbs I want to. She said I will only lose about 40% of my excess weight. My doctor keeps telling me that I will lose as much as I work at losing-- meaning if I excercise and eat right I can lose the 100lbs I want to. The negitve co-worker picks apart everything I eat telling me what is bad about it. Then they go get milkshakes and offer me one - hell no I don't want a milkshake. Today when I didn't bring lunch because literally the dog ate (stole it from the counter when I turned my back) I said I was going to run out and pick up lunch. Then I get- you know that really isn't good for you, you aren't going to lose weight like that. Just because I run pick something up doesn't mean I am going to make a bad choice as to what to get. I know I need to just let it go and ignore her, but when you see a person daily who is being negative it wears on you. I can't keep from seeing her, she is two offices down and literally I am going to see and bump into her. I realize this is just a mental game, maybe she doesn't want me to be more successful than her. However, her being this way is giving me motivation to show her.... can't wait to get home and hit the elliptical. It is odd how my attitude has changed. Pre-band I would go to food due to hurt feelings, now I go work out and literally work out the frustration and then I feel so much better afterward. I am going to do this, but the negative people are singing a chorus in my head that I will fail. How do you deal with negative people?

My doctor said it was ok, but he also said that taking ibuprohen is ok as long as it is not a every day thing.

Can See Port Under Skin
Kime-lou replied to lindabug's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Mine is just below my sternum (breast bone), but I have a friend whose port is just to the right of her belly button. I can feel mine standing or laying flat. I haven't lost enough to see it, but that may be possible after more weight comes off. Since I'm not really a bikini kinda girl I could care less. -
Thus far, yes. I haven't had any problems. I am careful to follow doctors orders and CHEW and take smaller bites. For me I felt like this would be the guide I need to actually live a healthier life. The band just helps me stay full longer, so I don't end up grazing. I am pretty good about if I'm not hungry I won't eat, so it just helps me from being hungry so much. I do make better choices on what to eat. I count calories with myfitnesspal and work out. Now 6 weeks out, I like my new life style. The band is my motivation, it's like my little plastic inner cheer leader saying we can do this. Maybe it is placebo effect, maybe it's not, but all I know is I am enjoying the banded life. My weight is coming off slow, but it is coming off and I am sticking to a "diet" something I have never done, because my band tells me I have to. I can't eat to much anymore with getting sick, and since I don't like that feeling I do not eat to much. I don't like being hungry all the time so I don't eat or drink useless calories. Maybe I am odd, maybe I am still in the honeymoon faze with the band, but I am really enjoying the new me.

My nutritionish warned me about this. She said it I wasn't getting enough nutrients I would lose some hair (not all, some). She said I need a good quality vitamin. She did not want me on childrens or gummy's. I am taking a multi vitamin from GNC that is Tropical Oasis that she approved as a good one. I also take a liquid B12 and Vit D gels and Viactive chews for calcium. I am only 6 weeks out and haven't had any issues, yet.

I started at 244 lbs Surgery date 6/22/12 Current Weight 221 23 lbs lost at 6 weeks out I don't feel like that is enough. However, my doctor tells me I am doing great. My band only has 2.5cc's and I have little to no restriction. I do eat more than the 1 cup, but I do stay full longer. I am staying with the calorie count recommended by the nutritionist and working out. To begin with I was losing weight FAST, now I have slowed to about 1-2 lbs a week which I feel like is nothing. I do go back for my 2nd fill next week and am hoping for more restriction and being able to eat less and stay satisfied longer. A lot of people talk about Protein shakes being Breakfast. If I just do a shake for breakfast I am starving in an hour. I have to have food.

Calories At Mushy Stage...
Kime-lou replied to dalia93's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
my nutritionist told me 800, once I started working out I could increase to 1000-1200. It has a lot to do with your starting weight though. You have to be careful not put your body is starvation mode. -
First Fill Failure
Kime-lou replied to banditalovely's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have mine done under floro all the time and it makes it much easier for them to access it. I get one stick and it's perfect. From what I understand if they use floro they can be more agressive with fills (add more at a time) than they can without. I am not sure about this, but it what I was told. I had 2 cc's put in last time. -
I did. I went to one on a Saturday morning, had my appointment with the surgeon in two weeks, did all my test in a month and then had surgery. I fast tracked myself. I had thought about doing it for so long, I just tried to fast line myself and I did. I can harldy believe it's over and I weeks post op. Love Duke Weighloss though, they are a great team. Feel free to contact me about anything. I am fairly new, but learning a lot.

Thanks all. I opted to eat at my desk today and ms negative had to come in my office to see what I was eating. I wanted to toss it in her face. Yeah I went to McDonalds and no I did not get a big mac (gross) I got a salad. I ate the grilled chicken on top and some lettuce and now I am full- yeah me!! I so want to stick it to them and show them what kind of success you can have if you put your mind to it.
