Oh Thank God!
SleeveandRNYchica replied to Justine13's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Justine, why did they decided that? I hear it is not bad. Mine is Monday. We look like we are on a similar timeline. I had chest xrays, echocardiogram, and ekg this week. I have to say an emotional experience. I met with psych today and boy that really helped! -
Feel Horrible
SleeveandRNYchica replied to Texarkolina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sorry you are going through this. I would be irritated that they were not more involved, if that is the right word. Actually, I am kinda lost for words. Glad at least the cardiologist was comforting. -
Words Of Encouragement Needed Please

I don't even have a date either and stopped dieting hahahaha! The surgeon told me to wipe that idea from my brain....boy why did he do that? Not that I am completing wiling out, but I am not as diligent. I feel like I want to just eat all the things I haven't been eating because I have been dieting over the last year, with no results. I feel like it is my only change :-). You are not alone. -
Feel Horrible
SleeveandRNYchica replied to Texarkolina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is very scary and I can see why you feel the way you feel. They are not giving you any other reasons to why this may of happened? Did they do any exams after the fact that could maybe tell them why? I could see why you are out of gas and not to happy about re-doing pre-op diet. They must understand this. They honestly feel that 7 days is enough to go back in? -

You look great. Congratulations on your successes. -
Wishing you the best. What a blessing that you were able to find this out through a procedure that would not be considered for prevention. I am 37 and have never had an endoscopy. I think with the numerous types of cancers people would be more inclined for "nontraditional" testing if we knew that it could save our lives. I wish the medical community would stop boxing people in and thinking that cancer only strikes this person or that person. None of us our immune. I am so thankful for you that you found this out early. God bless you and your family.

Anyone Else With High Tsh Results?
SleeveandRNYchica posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So my labs are trickling in and my TSH level came back 2 points above the "range." I haven't spoken to the doctor, but the lab told me it could indicate possible hypothyroidism UGH! Also, I may be pre-hypoglycemic. Just wondering if anyone else had similar results in the prelabs and what were ur doctor's recommendation. -

I feel much better. I found out they did take that test last year and it was normal. Talked to the office and it is not that way over.....he wants to see what the surgeon says. -

Yes, I think the one test is for the actual functioning of the thyroid, the other is for the hormone and you are right, they must have been testing me for the function portion. From what I have been reading if untreated it will effect the functioning at some point. -

Anyone Else With High Tsh Results?
SleeveandRNYchica replied to SleeveandRNYchica's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What really blows me, I have been on a supervised weight loss program for 1 year. They told me they tested me and I was "normal." However, I was not losing the beginning and then they put me on low carbs. So I lost like 18lbs in like 7 months. It is also very easy for me to gain. Especially when I travel. I truly believe going from a high altitude back to normal altitude just crushes me. Anyway, while I was stateside in MAY 2012, I even went to my GYN and they supposedly tested me too, again normal....I am kinda blown at this point. Because if I am diagnosed with hypothyroidism and I have been busting my ass for a year with little results and have a valid medical reason why, I will have spent the last year in vein. -

Major Vent - Medical Naysayers
SleeveandRNYchica posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So today, I had to do my labs work which included that nasty 2 hour glucose test. So I was pretty much wiped. I have extremely small veins (I think that is the only part of me that is small). The girl in the lab rocked! Anyways, I also had my EKG at 4 PM. The nurse was awesome and very supportive and talked about how great the doctor I am going to is. So she tells me that Dr. XXXX, is coming in to talk about my EKG. First, let me state he is not a doctor. I think he is like a physician assistant. (My husband was with me) This is our convo: HIM: "So your having surgery? Have you done the psychological evaluation?" ME: "No, the doctor would prefer me to do all the lab and other required testing prior, to ensure I am a good candidate. " HIM: "Well, you know your insurance probably will not pay. The consider it kinda like cosmetic surgery." ME: "I have spoken to BCBS and they do cover Bariatric Surgery." HIM: "Well, there was someone else in the region that has BCBS and they did not pay. You know they have criteria you have to meet. Also, you know there are horrible side effects like dumping sydrome." ME: "The surgery I am considering does not have dumping syndrome and is a relatively new procedure. Yes, I am well aware of BCBS requirments and have done my research." HIM: "There was a lady here that had liposuction and they punctured her lung and she was in the hospital and we could not help her and her insurance is did not cover it. You know we do not endorse the surgery and if you have any reoccurring side effects you will not be covered by our office." ME: MOUTH OPEN HIM: "But if you do decide to do it we want to be there with you to walk you through it." WTF>>>>>>>>>>>>>>, Let me just say this as an American Stationed Abroad, yes, we have different standards, but I didn't need all the negativity and comparsion to COSMETIC SURGERY, again WTF!!! I can understand them CYA'ing and telling me they do not endorse it....I have to be medically cleared to be here and they decide that, so what they yank it? -

How Do You Deal With.....
SleeveandRNYchica replied to scaredoftheunknown's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yeah, it was craziness. I had a weight problem back then and she had asked me about the RNY. She knows I research everything. So then I decided at that time in my life RNY was not for me. So she asked me about it, seeked consult and then lied to us. Anyway, I think sometimes people just hate. But dang, if you can't talk to your friends does what does that mean? -

I have BCBS Federal too. I hear overall the BCBS is more liberal overall with their approvals. I have spoken to them twice and they want to make sure we are following their requirements. Of course if you call they cannot reassure you, however, if you submit your records and you doctor can vouch that this surgury is necessary, I can not see them harping on the fact ur bmi may have fallen to 39.....good luck.
