Ladies, what can I do about my abs?

My hips are going no where. I have only lost 4 inches off of them in 20 weeks. My stomach is the first to go. It is funny how we all lose so differently. I agree with the rest. I just started working abs and I am 5 months out.

    Losing Slow At Very Beginning?

I went to drs and nut yesterday, although weigh loss is slow they were pleased. I think I stress myself more about measuring up to what they think. My Dec appt was a bit stressful so I didn't know what to expect. My doc reminded me of my body structure and that I have more muscle mass then some of his patients. He also reminded me that it can take 18 to 24 months to get to goal. I have to go for a bone/fat scan thing because he wants to compare it to the first one. He said BMI is a good guide but does not give entire picture. I am happy. I think the pressure has been relieved with his positive reinforcement.

    Losing Slow At Very Beginning?

I know I am progressing. I feel so much stronger during my workouts. It would just be nice for positive reinforcement on the scale

    Losing Slow At Very Beginning?

Yeah we really have no choice but to keep plugging along. It is frustrating and it is okay to vent. When I see people saying I am a slow loser and I have lost only 50lbs in 3 months it frustrates me. I would take 1.5 or 2 lb loss. The other thing is my losses are not consistent. I can't even track a so called "stall" no rhyme or reason.

    Losing Slow At Very Beginning?

Well when you all figure out the secret please fill me in. I have my appts tomorrow I am at 5 months and 42lbs down and that is naked so I am sure on my drs scale more like 40. I am sure he will look at me like I am crazy. I am in the gym, tracking and irritated. This is the same bs I went through pre surgery trying to figure out the right balance if calories end calories burnt yada yada ya. I didn't expect it to be this damn frustrating. I knew I would have to still work at this and no I would not have lost this much without my sleeve but it is still frustrating

I think for me I allow my dr to stress me. I am happy with the loss thus far but honestly have put off going for my next appointment in fear of his disappointment. I think the expectation is that people lose all this weight in the first 3 to 5 months. When I went in December I felt a bit like he though I was not doing what I was suppose to be doing. On the other hand my NUT was very pleased with my progress. To date I am averaging 2.14 lbs a week. I don't think that is bad. Yes, there are people sleeved after me that have lost 60-70lbs. But honestly I am not on the 500-600 cal a day diet. I average 800-850 and I work out. I don't see how people function on less or how they could have the energy to work out!

    Black/Mixed Races Sleevers (hair)

I color my hair. I am currently wearing it natural and cut it short. I can tell the hair loss, but with it being short I don't think others can. My hair tends to grow fast so I am not overly concerned.

    Losing Slow At Very Beginning?

    Lost my padunkadunk?

You have done fabulous!!! Congrats! U look great!
  18. I am losing slow. Sleeved 10/1 and down almost 40lbs. That is an average of 2.25 lbs a week, but I am here to tell you I lost 7lbs between week 7 and 16. That is less than a lb a week. I honestly don't keep track of my stalls because I went weeks with out losing. My weight loss is picking up and I can tell you I eat! My diary is open in MFP. I take a two multi chewables and just started adding variety to my cardio program. Before I was only walking. I am okay with slow loss but more concerned with the final outcome. My average is a good decent healthy average. I am bad with the water. I still am not up to 64 oz a day. I try but as I type I am at 46 oz.

    Is this normal?

Preop is horrible, but you have come this far! All the appt and approvals. Preop was the longest 2 weeks and honestly it helped prepare me for post op. You will do great!
  23. SleeveandRNYchica

    frustrated

Don't freak!! I am 17 weeks out tomorrow and I have lost 38 lbs. I can tell you I lost the first 30 in the first seven weeks. That means 8 lbs in 10 weeks! We are all so very different. Just stick to the program and you will do fine. I really thought I would lose more, but that is still an average of 2.25 a week. These boards can be good, but they can also play on your emotions when we see others around us posting I am 3 months out and 60 lbs down! I have thought what the hell is wrong with me. All of our journeys are individual. Look at your weekly average. You are doing great! Check out my stats=slow loser!!!
  24. I just posted something about there being way to much emphasis on BMI. What about body fat! There are "skinny people" that have high percentages of body fat. I do believe ere are so many other factors. I do not want to be "skinny fat" I want to be healthy and I am not sure that the BMI chart gets me to what I consider healthy. 125 lbs doesn't always equate to health for my height.
  25. I set my initial goal at 175. My ultimate goal is 150lbs. I will reevaluate once I get to initial goal. More important than BMI to me is my body fat. There are "skinny people" that have high body fat. As much as shape and body type come in to play I think body fat is important. I do NOT want to be skinny fat. In my OPINION I think to much emphasis is place in BMI charts. There are so many other factors.
