    Reflux after getting sleeved

I just had to barium swallow and upper gi. I am scheduled for endoscopy next. I have terrible reflux and it was shown in the tests. They have prescribed Nexium. I am 2.5 years post op. I got pregnant 12 months post sleeve and have not been able to lose weight since delivery. Surgeon told me he has seen several cases post pregnancy when sleeve has stretched. So my sleeve is larger than expected now. So we are reviewing my options. I was a very slow looser to begin with losing 53lbs up until my pregnancy. That was with working out 5-6 days a week and tracking. To say I am frustrated is an understatement. Everything I eat gives me heartburn!

Feel like my surgery "expired" at 1 year

I had my surgery 10/12. I went from 266 to 213. 213 was July 2013. I gained 10lbs, we went through a major move and lived in hotel for 2 months. Then we found out we were having a baby. I got back up to 260. I am still 260 baby was born 10 months ago. I have tried shakes, low carb I lost 10 gained it back. The difference for me is I was working out 5-6 days away post sleeve. Now not so much. I have a lot of excuses why and will get back because I do enjoy working out.... In the meantime I have an appt for upper gi tomorrow so dr can check sleeve.
  3. I am am almost 6 months post and I am beginning to not like eating meat. This last past week I had my housekeeper make me some pinto Beans in the pressure cooker. I enjoyed those much better. I also made some tuna and that was much better chicken or beef. Has anyone else went through a phase this far out and what did you do for Protein sources? Did you begin to like meat again? Cottage cheese is hard to get here where I live. I have been off shakes for along time. I eat eggs everyday. Any suggestions are appreciate. Fish is yuck to me too!

No, no cast. I am seeing improvement by stretching and wearing my night splint.

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

I am in a night splint. I signed up for my 1st 5k so I need it cured so I can continue working towards my goal. You are the 1st person that said they cured it by walking that is great to hear! I still work out regularly but my long Sunday walks are out right now just too painful.

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

Thanks Susan. I am not gonna lie and say these are the results I expected. I honestly thought I would be at least 65lbs down. I am busting my butt in gym and most weeks see little rewards on the scale. I now have planter fasciitis and it is painful. I just keep plugging along. You have done so well!

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

Before 266 after 217. I am losing super slow, but feel so much better
  10. I didn't lose any weight from 4/13-5/14. My NUT told be to keep doing what I am doing and one a my body will give in. I have lost 50lbs total since surgery. I don't count preop because I gained all that back after surgery. My surgery was 10/1 and although in my mind I feel like I should have lost more, I am pleased with my progress. I am not deficient in any vitamins according to six month labs and I am not losing an abnormal amount of hair. I did have a hiccup in my exercise routine for a couple of weeks. I was diagnosed with planter fasciitis and let me tell you it is no fun! I got a cortisone shot and I am in a night splint. I signed up for my first 5k so I gotta get this kicked in the butt.
  11. Anybody under go cortisol testing? I have to collect 24 hours worth of urine. I read up on it, very interesting. I have never been tested for this before. I guess my surgeon wants to know how my body handles stress.....

Why am I a Slowwwwwwwww loser?

Thanks Kirk, I have taken a backseat on the forums and have decided to take down all my personal data. I am so tired of seeing people get beat down. I do that to myself enough. On another note I have been researching subcutaneous fat for us pear shapes and talked to my NUT about it and we do tend to be slower losers. So yeah I have been cursed or blessed with hips and ass depending on how one views it. My husband would say blessed!

Why am I a Slowwwwwwwww loser?

This is why I am OVER this forum, some people that reach goal in 6 months think the rest of us are eating twinkies over here! I am so sick of the self righteous folks on this forum that put the "slow losers" down. I bust my butt in the gym before and after my sleeve. NGM mentioned increasing carbs and adding healthy fats not drinking beer and eating bread. People are so insensitive to those if us that have a different journey that may not be as "easy" when the weight doesn't just fall off the instant gratification is not there so choices become even more challenging. This forum is not encouraging at all and only to those deemed as successes. I don't think we need it crammed down out throat every other post how fast someone got to goal. I am so over it.....

Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?

Yes I would but I would probably choose RNY. The weightloss has been challenging. I still feel like I'm on the same emotional losing roller coaster that I was prior to surgery. I wasn't expecting a cakewalk but I'm still busting my hump 5 to 6 days in the gym. So yeah I find that some days I'm a bit frustrated. It really makes it hard to make good choices all the time
  19. Pinto beans with light cheese and a tiny bit of sour cream
  20. I wait a few days for stabilization! Add me to MFP stargirl37!
  21. Thank you! It has been a struggle. The only month that was "easy" and the weight just came off was month 1. 22lbs. The rest has been a fight. I really didn't want to live my life on a "diet" but just be normal. I still obese over what I eat and if I worked out. If I am eating enough. Did I eat too much. Should I eat carbs or shouldn't I eat carbs with the level of working out. I still have not found my exact science. I know the sleeve was the healthier option, but considering my history of working out and dieting RNY may have been a better option. In 2007-2008 was working out with a trainer 3 x a week, watching intake, working out on my own. I went from 223 to 203 from October to June. 20lbs! Looking back I was fit but the weight loss was so slow. It is not normal. I am not like others so I try hard not to compare. I know some people would say she is lying she had to be eating twinkies or late night stops to McDonalds. I know what I have done and how I have tried and today it is still a fight. Okay heading out for a walk!
  22. I must admit I was never a soda drinker and my diet was not perfect but not horrible leading up to my VSG. I was not a fast food junkie. Matter of fact, the year prior to VSG I was on a supervised diet and it took me 6 months to lose 17 lbs.; that is what prompted me to have surgery. I started with a BMI of 43 and have lost 46 lbs in 6 months. It has been painfully slow and I work out at least 5 days a week. I don't know why I am such a slow loser or what it is attributed too. What I do know is that it is still easy for me to gain and hard to lose. I wish I had an answer to my dilemma. Because I often question myself. My husband agreed to the surgery because he saw how hard I was working and not losing. I have my days when I am frustrated because I see people upset they they are in a stall at month six and have dropped 80 lbs. Hell if I had dropped the wanted 10 lbs a month I would be ecstatic, but I am not even there.
  23. 47 lbs in 6 months is not really what I had in mind, but trying to remain positive.

  24. You have done so well! You are an inspiration to others and should be so proud. So many people say that it takes awhile for the mind to catch up. Enjoy this time! You deserve it.

how long for bsbc federal to send approval?

I know it is frustrating! All the appts and waiting BCBs Fed seems to be reasonable in their decisions. Haven't heard of denials. Hang in there and good luck!
