    Fat confessionals

You guys are funny!!! I guess we need to find laughter through it all! I love when we have jeans day at work at least my dimples don't show through like they do in my ever so tight work pants although, the friction and sound of my thighs rubbing together in jeans makes me think I am trying to start a forest fire!

    Worst Restaurant Food You Ordered?

We lived in Latin America and there is a restaurant Andres Carne de Res. The food is delicious. In this one appetizer they make fresh fried chícharron served with a side if guacamole. Heart Attack in a bowl. But damn them little things were good!

How Do You Get Over the Guilt?

I never felt guilty about having WLS. I feel more guilt about allowing my weight to physically impact what I can do with my children. I know in my heart I have given my good faith effort to get rid of the weight sin surgery. What I am most proud about is having a 9 year old daughter that is happy and healthy (in a normal weight range). She is active and beautiful! I have taught her to make good food choices. She exercises with me. I am showing her that even though Mommy is bigger she never gives up. So although I feel a smidge of guilt of not going down the Water slide or not riding the roller coaster, it doesn't prevent me in teaching her healthy, positive behaviors. WLS opens the possibilities of being a more physical, active person. I see it as a win-win.

    What "negatives" are you experiencing?

If only that was true it's impossible to prove a point when some are just too close minded or stubborn to admit they are flat wrong even when you show them medically publicized journals and xray pictures. And just a little reminder to everyone, we all sure heard a lot of false information about the band when it came out too, it was only after years of doing the procedure that we were able to learn the real damage it could do. It will be the same with the sleeve. Not so much damage, but stretching and failure rates for many. Thankfully some surgeons are already taking note of this so that they can properly educate their patients that it IS a possibility, while others sadly still have their head in the sand.I posted a complete summary about what was going on with my sleeve after my barium swallow and EDG. Crickets, no comments, no well wishes. No one wants to read or talk about things that may paint the sleeve in a negative light. I was a slow loser and came on here for support and you get this feeling that no matter what you are doing (tracking, exercising, Water, followup care) that you are still doing something wrong. Macros off, to much this not enough that, that is why I stopped participating. I dealt with my NUT and dr. Because I lived abroad I had no support groups. The people that struggle don't come in the forum because I can tell you at one point they probably felt like the group was only supportive of those that appeared to be doing well. If you are losing weight, you must be following plan. NOT! I read lots of post of people that didn't follow protocol and they were still losing. So the ones that can't quite grasp why they are not losing fade to black on here. The sleeve is not perfect. When I tell my story, I ways say there have been many successful sleevers. I just was not one of them. What I can't take on BP is the people that come of condescending, as if adding a smiley face makes it all better.

    What "negatives" are you experiencing?

I have had 3 different doctors tell me the same thing. Because my sleeve is twisted as well, it is a bit complicated. With that said, once I go in for surgery I will be sure to give a full report. Because on this forum it is all about proving a point. Side note- I had my sleeve in 2012, at that point still a newer procedure. I think each year they are learning more and more.

    Everyone is an expert!

This forum is full of experts. It seems when one doesn't agree with their expert opinion the tone becomes rude and condescending. We all have surgery experiences, each one different. It's kinda like having a baby, no two experiences are alike. I try to share my experience, but always note there are others that had a more positive or desirable outcome. Opinions are like butt holes, everyone has one.

    What "negatives" are you experiencing?

So I guess my surgeon is a quack, because I was told my sleeve is dilated. The dr that did my barium swallow noted it too...

    What "negatives" are you experiencing?

That's the way to do it, put down those that have to go in for repeat surgeries.... This is why I departed this forum in 2013. The condescending tones of those that feel because their experience went well the first time and goal was attainable that the rest of us are cheating and don't do our research. Listen, the fact I have to have a second surgery sucks.

    What "negatives" are you experiencing?

Raises hand, I too have a dilated sleeve, pouch whatever you want to call it. It does happen. I do not believe there is enough data available to say it doesn't. Although, the procedure is not new, it is newer in the bariatric world. Surely there is not enough sleeve data post pregnancy.

    Gastric bypass or sleeve?

Thank you! I wish you the best either way you decide to go! At the end, you will be healthier, happier and slimmer! I would discuss your concerns with your surgical team. They are a great resource and can assist you in making the best decision for you and your situation.

    Gastric bypass or sleeve?

@ I'm planning on getting pregnant maybe two years or more out from my surgery. May I ask if your post-pregnancy complications were something common in sleeve patients? I'm wondering if there's something here I should consider? [/quote I see many successful post pregnancy sleevers on here. My complication is NOT common. My sleeve is angulated (twisted) if you search that, you will find that is a late term side effect (not sure if it's pregnancy related). I also have a hiatal hernia, not pregnancy related. My sleeve is also distended. So the way he explained, my sleeve is not emptying food the way it should. I say all this, but also note I was a prime sleeve candidate. I went through therapy, almost a year of nutritional counseling prior to deciding on the sleeve. I worked out pre/post sleeve. I don't think there is a way to know if you will have complications. I will also note, I was only 11 months post op when I got pregnant. I was 39 years old, so high risk and had only lost about 50% of excess weight. I am excited about my bypass and new possibilities. Although, it is emotional going through this all over again and the fear of failing.

    Fat confessionals

Thank you all. I made it thru a pool day. My husband always tells me to look around, honestly there are a lot of bigger people not that it makes me feel better. I guess I am extra emotional about it being that with my first surgery, I never thought I'd be here again....

On the way to the pool with my husband, nine year old and 13 month old. I don't want to go, but I am. My 9 year old loves me but I know there will come a time she will be embarrassed. As much as I want this for myself, I want to be healthy for my family. My kids. I want to cry as I write this, but can't....

    Gastric bypass or sleeve?

I was like you no comorbities. I was a great sleeve candidate. I was a terribly slow loser which I learned to live with. I have since had some complications post pregnancy and will be revised to bypass soon. I have developed terrible GERD with my sleeve. Also, some sleeve drs still do not advise taking NSAIDS. I took them after my c-section and thought I was gonna have a heart attack. Since then my surgeon had told me to stop using them. I think this is an area that is still conflicting amongst the sleeve community. People have success with both and there can be complications with both.
