Have you ever swallowed something by mistake?

Thanks for the tip. It finally feels like it is making its way down. It has taken all day. It made for an uncomfortable day. Wishing you the best! I agree with you. This no easy journey. I feel that way with going in for revision after having complications. I have finally gotten to the point of not caring what others think. Yes, I had surgery and I am still obese for many reasons. The insurance coordinator is not very welcoming and treats me like I failed not really understanding why... This whole journey is filled with humbling experiences, realities and some tears...oh and swallowing cherry pits!
  9. OMG I swallowed a cherry pit by mistake and it hurts oh so bad!!! I can feel it in my chest! What have you swallowed that hurt so bad?

Pre op- which should I choose ?

I had a barium swallow and EDG which indicated I had GERD and I hiatal hernia. I am almost 3 years post op with sleeve and converting to RNY. I feel bad most of the time and hoping the RNY will get rid of GERD along with the fix of the hernia. I did not have GERD presleeve and no comorbs either. I was the perfect sleeve candidate. There is no way for them to know if it is something u will develop on down the road...

Hiatal hernia post op there years.

He said he could resleeve me, but may not "cure" heartburn. Honestly, I don't think I would have made goal with the sleeve and he doesn't either. So for me RNY is my only option. Food feels like it sits in my chest and yes those where my only symptoms

Hiatal hernia post op there years.

I got pregnant 11 months post op. I was working out, following plan but losing slow, which I made peace with. I had a difficult pregnancy, baby is healthy and labs were always good. I has heartburn but didn't think much of it. But post pregnancy heartburn was bad and I was not losing at all. So I found a new surgeon that would take my case. He ordered barium swallow and EDG. Those test confirmed a hiatal hernia, twisted (angulated) sleeve, and GERD. My sleeve is twisted so under the twist there is pouch effect at the bottom. So food is not exiting the way it should... Anyways, I have to have revision surgery. I still have to go through insurance requirements as I am converting to RNY. I have my last NUT appt 8/8.

    Hello from a newbie...

I am so sorry for your loss. I applaud you for still having the courage to go through the surgery, as I know that was not easy. I wish you the best in your journey as you learn to live your life post surgery. I wish I could hug you.

    Amazing!! Great results.
  18. I am with FEPblue too (basic) I am using my surgeons NUT program. I think it varies by office...
  19. All I can say is, if and I mean a big IF it was that easy to lose weight people would. I am sure a lot of forum members gave good efforts in losing weigh, I know I did. I have work with nutritionists and personal trainers. I have been obese since the age of 6. Back then we were not eating the way our society eats today. My brother is not obese and we grew up in the same house. Not all obese people are binge eaters. I don't think it is as simple as cutting back and exercising . If it was, I'd be skinny. Anyways, I have had issues with my sleeve. I have regained and am currently experiencing complications that require me to have revision surgery. I do not regret taking a chance on me! I have been FAT my entire life. I am not convinced that surgery is a mistake. I am sorry you have had a difficult time. I do believe you need to go into surgery having done your research. Asking questions and building a support system. If anyone new reads your post, I hope the take away is the importance of not making a rash decision.

It's funny how all of us have the same insurance but different costs based on surgeons office procedures. I have my sheet at home and will give you my out-of-pocket expenses when I can.

    Hiatel Hernia and Angulation

    I will! Thank you.
  22. I am 3 years post op. I was a slow loser. I lost 53lbs pre/post op from Oct 2012 until July 2013. We found out we were expecting a baby in Sept 2013.. My weight loss slowed between July and August of 2013 leading up to pregnancy. I had a difficult pregnancy but gained weight just like I did in my pre-sleeve pregnancy. After my delivery in 2014, I noticed an increase in reflux and my weightloss was nonexistent. I consulted with a new doctor. He ordered a barium swallow. That showed a hiatal hernia and confirmed gerd. Today, I had my follow up endoscopy which confirmed a nice size hiatal hernia and I have an angulated sleeve, meaning the sleeve is like a hook (I was still a bit high when dr was explaining) lol. But the food does not leave it just sits. It backs up causing gerd and stretching of sleeve. I am feeling some kinda way. Not sure what... Still processing. Gotta make a follow up appt with dr.
  23. They are making me go through whole kit and kaboodle again. Someone else in here with complications had to do everything again.... Ugh! I think my insurance coordinator at drs office is not communicating with BCBS properly...
