Presurgery and I can't decide to keep WLS public or private
SleeveandRNYchica replied to soccermama's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Haha sounds like my Mother in Law praying that my husband marry his ex-girlfriend. I told people - friends, family. I don't volunteer it up to just anybody. There is such a bad stigma to weight loss surgery. In your position you have the ability to educate patients if asked. I think that's a positive. It is a very personal decision. I understand the numerous reasons on why not to tell. I currently work with a bunch of gossiping folks, so not sure I would want to tell them. I also have few that are a not heavier than me that against WLS. -

Complications on your sleeve? Anything we future sleevers should be concerned about - or ask our surgeons about? Where in VA are you? My whole family lives in VA - Herndon, Manassas and Charlottesville. Here's my story: I am almost 3 years post op from gastric sleeve surgery. My surgery was 10/1/12. I was a slow loser from the start. When I was ready, I was working out 5-6x a week. I saw my surgeon and nut at required times. They thought my progress was great. I had my surgery in Bogota. I lost 53lbs pre/post op from Oct 2012 until July 2013. We moved back to the US and I gained about 7lbs. We were living in a hotel and I started a new job. We found out we were expecting a baby in Sept 2013. My weight loss slowed between July and August of 2013 leading up to pregnancy. I had a difficult pregnancy but gained weight just like I did in my pre-sleeve pregnancy. After my delivery in 2014, I noticed an increase in reflux and my weightloss was nonexistent. I consulted with a new doctor. He ordered a barium swallow. That showed a hiatal hernia and confirmed gerd. At that time the doctor told me he had several post pregnancy sleeve patients with dilated sleeves. I had my follow up endoscopy which confirmed a nice size hiatal hernia and I have an angulated sleeve (it's twisted). The food is not exiting properly or timely. It causes the back up in the sleeve and the gerd. It is also like I have a pouch at end of sleeve. I am in Woodbridge.... -

You are comical and ridiculous. You come of negative and confused. Your initial post was written poorly. When clarification was asked for your went to the left. No need to talk about your credentials and your salary oh and your Christian belief. News flash, that does not shine through in your speak. Attacking people. You come across comical hence the popcorn remark. This entire thread reads like a bad joke. I wish you well in your journey. It does take a positive attitude, as one never know what lies before them. buena suerte. Go ahead: ATTACK..

Wow I haven't paid anything out of pocket yet and I completed the nutritionist classes abd the psyc. They sent my info off to insurance on monday so I am waiting now. Was only told I would have to pay $100 per day for hospital. Idk weather to expect a bill for the rest or if it was included in the "program" Are you basic or standard because I swear the copayment is more than $100. Are you having surgery at a Center of Excellence? -

So my breakdown with my surgical group goes like this: $730 paid in two payments for all wellness consults, pre bad post op nutrition appointments, patient material and weight loss nutrition class $150 for 3 month nutrition program $300 for Bariatric Advantage liquid diet $153 for Bypass Vitamin kit This is my upfront out of pocket cost totally $1333. Additionally, since I already met with their Behavioral Specialist I went with her for the psychological exam for an added costs of $225. I decided to go with her because when I called another psych he told me my insurance would cover the appointment, but not his time to right the report for additional $175. So with copay I would have been close to $225 anyway! I also had to have Barium Swallow copay $40 (I think) and EDG copay $100. I will have my surgery at a Center of Excellence so I think the copay is $150. The office told me lost surgery I will get a letter of necessity in which I can then submit to my insurance for possible reimbursement. Since these are considered wellness providers procedure codes are nonexistent. So when it's said and done it will be close to $2k. Not to mention this is my second rodeo. -
Is it bad that I am cracking up at this entire conversation.... Where is my popcorn???

What's your "weight loss pet peeve?"
SleeveandRNYchica replied to Elode's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
. YES! My husband gets offended that I don't want to share. We shared food presurgery, but for me it is like an ownership thing post surgery. Even though I can't eat it doesn't mean I want to share it! Also, I think for me it's a bit psychological. I haven't quite figured this one out for me. -
