    6 month diet

I think it depends on your insurance company. Mine had to be 6 CONSECUTIVE months or you had to start over. Hopefully, yours is not like that!!!

52 and wondering what to expect

I'm 56 and had my surgery 12/27/12. Like you, my main reason for the surgery was (hopefully) getting rid of diabetes, sleep apnea and high blood pressure. My diabetes has been bad enough that I've worn an insulin pump for the last 4 years (taking close to 150 units of insulin a day). Since my surgery, I have not had to wear my insulin pump (I occasionally have to inject 1-2 units of insulin, but not everyday) and I'm taking half the amount of pills for HBP. Don't lose sight of the prize - good health. Any loose skin will be well worth it!!
  4. My Dr didn't want me to use it the day of surgery, but it was okay after that.

    Is your DIABETES cured?

I was also on Metformin before surgery, but not now.

    Is your DIABETES cured?

I had surgery 12/27. Prior to that I was taking taking 125-150 units of insulin a day via an insulin Pump. Since my surgery, I am not using the pump and take a unit of insulin if my blood sugar goes above 150. I've taken less than 20 units of insulin TOTAL since surgery. As I add additional food (I'm on pureed now), I might need a bit more insulin, but my Dr feels that the increased food and decreased weight will balance everything out and I'll be able to get completely off insulin.

    Need help guys urgent

My Dr allows regular coffee once you're out of the hospital as long as you are staying hydrated. That's the main concern with caffeine.

    Going on vacation post-op

I am going on a cruise 4 days after I start back on 'real' food (5 1/2 weeks post-op). Checked with the Dr and he okayed it. I know I won't be able to eat like I used to on cruises - just small quantities of healthy food.

    I was sleeved on 12/27 and I haven't had any complications or buyer's remorse. Hope I don't.

    All of my December sleevers...

Down 7 lbs since being sleeved 12/27.
  12. Welcome to the forum! I was sleeved on December 27th, so I am still on clear liquids until tomorrow. I never thought I'd look so forward to protein shakes! I am very happy to have finally found a tool that can help me achieve success in my battle against the weight and diabetes. Best of luck to you.

    Congrats!!!!!
  15. I started my liquid diet yesterday. Two days down, 12 to go. I'm trying to stay busy to keep my mind off it. Broth and Crystal Light seem to help.
