  1. Excited to have mashed sweet potatoes for dinner...it may not be a fat steak, but it's definitely a step up from all liquids!! :)

  2. Hello all, I was banded on 7/13/2012 and am concerned about possible scarring, as I tend to scar fairly easily. Any advice or personal stories on how to/you avoided scarring? Also....when can I begin these methods...week 2, 3? Any response would be greatly appreciated!!
  3. What great advice and tips, thanks so much to all!!

    July Bandsters....lets Here You....

Hey y'all! I was banded July 13th and am finally feeling almost back to normal! I did struggle with the gas, especially when trying to sleep (I ended up propping myself up in bed like I was in a recliner). Other than that the pain level has not been overwhelming and the medicine is the REAL deal I started back to work yesterday the 17th and was a little extra tired and sore, but I made it through with a little liquid Tylenol! I have had a little trouble getting down enough Protein each day...I believe it's supposed to be about 60 grams, right? I'm using the Atkins Advantage shakes which only contain 15 grams each...what have ya'll had success with? ...................I can't wait for the liquid phase to be over, I want to chew! Good Luck to all of you! - Kelsey

    What About Pre-Op Diets?

I was not able to get coverage by my insurance for the surgery, so can't help you there...BUT, I can tell you about my pre-op diet... It is usually done for 2 weeks, but they squeezed me in on a cancellation and allowed me to do 1 week of the pre-op diet. Pre-op diet: Meal 1: Any 2 choices: yogurt, fruit, egg, wholegrain Cereal, toast, bagel, waffle, muffin Meal 2: 1 serving of Protein drink ( I used Atkins Advantage - I think the milk chocolate tastes good and it's not too expensive $ 5- $ 6 for a 4-pack.) Meal 3: 1 serving (4-6) oz. of lean meat or fish AND a green vegetable (lettuce, peas, green Beans, spinach, salad) Meal 4: 1 serving of Protein Drink Also, I had to start a Multivitamin and a Calcium 1000mg supplement with added Vitamin D - Both CHEWABLE. I could also supplement sugar free Jello, sugar free popsicles, crystal light (all flavors), or Water. <3 Hope this helps!!
  6. I can't wait to chew something...ANYTHING! :)
