I've been overweight my entire life. As much as I would put on that I was "happy with who I am" and "accepted my size", I always knew that the truth was that it hurt me very badly. My weight had continued to rise and in the last 2 years I had gained over 30 pounds putting me at my heaviest 250 lbs. in September 2011. I attribute my weight gain to my pattern of "emotional eating". I would eat when I was happy or excited, as well as, sad and depressed. After the passing of my father from cancer in 2010 I started to eat and eat and eat and EAT some more. Finally this year I was diagnosed with OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea), Glaucoma, and informed that I was on the fast track to diabetes (it runs in the family on both sides).
I decided that was ENOUGH. I went down to True Results (a couple of my girlfriends had had great success with them) and had a consultation. I knew that the Glaucoma wasn't going anywhere, but the Sleep Apnea could be cured with my weight loss as well as greatly decrease my risk for diabetes. I had already begun to live a healthy lifestyle back in September 2011 and had lost around 25 lbs., so I decided it was time to take the plunge.
On Friday, July 13, 2012 I had my surgery and my journey has begun! I'm excited everyday to discover all the opportunities to live outside of food, I'm truly beginning to find myself and a new way of life!
God bless and good luck to all of you!
