    Itchy Skin?

I heard the same thing about the steri strips- to not remove them. I also work at a hospital and am a nursing student, and we always instruct our patients to let them fall off naturally. It's not my incisions that itch. It's everywhere around them, especially my belly button!!!!
  2. I'm three weeks out, and recently my skin surrounding my incisions itch something terrible. My incisions don't itch at all, but the skin in between; especially around my belly button...pure torture! Anyone else experiencing this?

    Support As A Facade ...

    Support As A Facade ...

Thank you! I needed this! Normally my mom is the one to tell me to stop being irrational, but she's living in another state : /
  5. I am having a hard time with my significant other not trying to understand what I am going through. Firstly, he has no problem telling me he is going to eat hot dogs for dinner every day since I am not eating dinner with him. I feel like he is looking for a reaction, and the thing is- he's over weight too! Only by like 20 pounds, but you can tell. Another thing is, we made a deal that I would lose weight and he would quit smoking. Well I made the ultimate commitment to losing weight, and he went off his zyban because he doesn't want to continue trying. I am just at a loss, and don't feel like after 5 years he gets me any more than he did the day we met... I realize this is me having a pity party, and I AM freshly post-op! Any suggestions?

    Never Trust A Fart!

I actually switched to the zero calorie Vitamin Water due to my excessive "blow outs". Because of the Fluid loss, I am worried I will become dehydrated, as I was when I went into surgery. The vitamin water has some more electrolytes along with what is in the Vitamins. Also, the more solid my diet is...etc etc... And it's weird with what my stomach will tolerate. Protein shakes and milk are a NO GO, but cottage cheese and regular cheese with whole grain crackers is fine- one day, I will get this all down. P.s. Soooo thankful to hear everyone has had some surprises! My mom was up to help take care of me, and was home the first time it happened. I think she was more embarrassed than me, and told me not to tell my husband- of course I told him anyway, as he has shite himself and he hasn't even had surgery!

    Easy Protein Intake!

Yeah, I guess that is something to think about if you have issues with blood sugar. My dietitian just told me anything that was naturally occurring is fine...

    How Do You Sleep?

There is no way I could sleep on my stomach. I am almost 2 weeks out, and my skin between my incisions is still so sore. Does anyone else experience this? My incisions feel fine, its the area between all of them...

    Easy Protein Intake!

@dpflorida- There are 9 g of carbs in the yogurt, and 2 in the protein powder. I don't know how strict you are with fruit, but generally that will be higher in carbs and sugar. Naturally occurring though : )

    How Do You Sleep?

I had a hard time staying on my back too, but I was so exhausted from being nauseated all the time it didn't matter. Anyway...I was able to somewhat comfortably sleep on my side after a week. Sometimes though, I will need a pillow to hold against my stomach.
  11. For those of you fresh post-ops, I found this an easy way to get a large chunk of my Protein in. 1 pineapple 3 Oranges 1 cup greek yogurt 1 scoop Protein powder First peel and chunk the fruit so you can juice the pieces (no pulp!). Then add yogurt, protein, juice, and ice to texture to blender. Blend and enjoy! Depending on the protein brand, generally there are 23 g per scoop. There is also 23 g per cup of yogurt, so it amounts to 46 g (plus whatever is in the juice). Yay! Made my life a lot easier figuring this out!! Good Luck!

    Being Compliant...

Thank you so much. I work at a hospital and am a little neurotic about thing!
  13. Was he specific? I am a week and a half out and want to make sure I am doing e everything right...
  14. I am a week and a half out of surgery, and have been trying to take it easy. I haven't noticed any pain or soreness that is too bad; I haven't taken my pain medicine in a few days either. What I dis notice was a hard knot under one of my incisions that does not hurt when I pinch it. Is this normal scar tissue formation? Just wondering if I am not being careful enough. Thanks!
