I think the pre-op diet is to make you so mad you do not care if you live through the surgery. -

How did you get past the problems and possible life ending side affects of being fat?
-
Do you really think it does any good preaching to this group about what to eat. Did this just occure to you now? There are probable a thousand books on whole food and paleo diet and we probably have read them all.

We do not do this surgery to lose weight only we also do this to enjoy life, Quit beating your self up and move on we are allowed a treat as long as we do not over do it. It is not healthy to try to quit something completely learn to enjoy a treat and be happy.(note I said "a" treat) -
Why am I ashamed that I had to have WLS?
bigsleeve56 replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If they judge you tell them to piss off. Enjoy the new life and the great decision you made and they will see it was the right choise. -
I am glad to see someone else that is not going hog wild with the "diet" I eat the same way as you do I have never tracked food or counted cals. and I have lost 150 lbs and have enjoyed life instead of fighting with food.

WHY!!! What do you need the extra weight for it causes joint problems just like fat. I use to dead lift 550 bench 350 and squat 500 now walking and bending down are painful at best. Four back surgerys and one knee surgery and the only thing the muscle did was make the cuts larger. Take what God gave you and be happy.

Deer and antilope both have great protien and making your own jerkey alowes the use of less salt than store bought. I didn't kill till my 6 weeks of no lifting was over but then I made up for lost time.

"I just don't think a person at that age is mature enough to deal with the lifetime restrictions this surgery brings. She may seem mature enough at this point in time" I do not think I'm mature enough to deal with the lifetime restrictions or are most of us

How did you survive giving up caffeine and sugar?
bigsleeve56 replied to Bronco0605's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I made it by droping 150 pounds what else matters. -
"You will not be "curing" or "fixing" anything else, and I am afraid you will see the repercussions of this choice down the line. I stand by my earlier post - I really feel that the biggest thing you can do for her is teach her by example" Who here has learned by example and does not have the sleeve or is not going to have the sleeve. The example here is mom can't do why should I. Why try to make someone do something none of the rest of us could do. If she had another med problem there would be no problem removing a portion of her stomach. Overweight can lead to major med problems at a young age and maybe should be treated as such. There are alot of things I missed in growing up because of my size and it had nothing to do with beuty and fitting in. Now every day I suffer because of my large size as a youngster. This is availble and it is not new it has been done for many years for other reasons and should be an option for anybody. You do not know this person and her mother does. Not that many years ago14 was old enough to be married and have families and many girls of this age are more mature than alot of people on this sight that have the sleeve.

You guys crack me up you post on here how diet never works and you tried every diet known and now the sleve is best ever. Then you tell this lady put your kid on a diet. A young person would probably adapt to this life style way better than we do because they have not practised being bad as long as we have. This is one of those things a mother probable knows best. I would think hard about the same time though in case there is a problem.

I have a very personal question!
bigsleeve56 replied to djsacco's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stop letting youre self be consumed by the sleeve and enjoy life. The new you is not a sleeve it needs to be more about living and less about eating.
