Four Month Update
Futureskinnyperson replied to TheNewSusie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was 4 months out on Nov 4 and have lost 65 pounds so far, with 15 of that being preop. The weight loss has definitely slowed down but I am glad as it was kinda scary how so much came off so quickly at the beginning. I think I have found a sweet spot now where it comes off slowly and I am happy with that. I can't wait to hit ONDERLAND....only 10 more pounds for me and YOU are almost there!!!!! Stay strong and positive and embrace your new life as it unfolds! -
Not All Sleevers Eat 500 Cals A Day For The Rest Of Their Lives!
Futureskinnyperson replied to FishingNurse's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great Post and you look and sound incredibly happy! I too do not follow some very low calorie program as I personally think that is very unhealthy! I admire you for embracing your curves and realizing that your goal was simply to feel better and that number do not define if you have succeeded! I am at 4 months today and have lost 65 pounds! I also feel incredible but know that I am not quite there yet. I did have a goal of 175 lbs, but now that I am at 210 lbs, I am not certain I will need to get there to feel like my weight lose is done. I plan on seeing how I feel. Thank you for sharing your philosophy and pictures! Nicely done! -

Way to go! I completely understand yes you can celebrate here with us!!!!!!!!!!!! I too have a whole new relationship with my closet again and I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am wearing a size 12 now and sometimes a MEDIUM!!!!!!!!! Keep it up! It feels soooooooooooooooooo good! -
Well the sleeve has proven in yet another amazing way how it has helped me to extend my life and be a healthier and happier me! All my lab work came back normal and I no longer have high cholesterol or high liver enzymes. My protein levels are normal and everything was perfect!! Wow. What a gift we have given ourselves! My weight lose has slowed down of course, but I could not be happier with the results. I wish everyone else the same success.

I still struggle with getting enough fluids in and find I do not lose weight as well if I don't get the water down. Your caloric intake sounds a bit low to me. I eat between 900-1200 and am still losing. How can you possible get your protein in with 500 calories?

Ok wait a minute.....almost the whole pan? How big was the pan? a 9 x 9 or a 9x 13? :-) Anyway don't make those anymore, right? I am wondering how far out you are from surgery? I am 3 1/2 months and could not even begin to imagine eating a whole pan of anything, even over 13 hours. Even when I am "bad" it doesn't usually amount to much in terms of volume. Calories sometimes yes....but volume no.....

I heard, what I hope is a a rumor that carbonated beverages, diet soda, champagne, fizzy waters etc can cause your sleeve to stretch. Is there any truth to this? I do not have a NUT, so if one of you could ask yours, I would really appreciate it! I do not drink them on a routine basis but enjoy one once in a while, but will STOP if this is true! Cheers!

Hi All....so I am just curious if I will become completely bald before the hair loss stops or is there hope that I will have a few hairs left? My hair loss started at 2 months and I am now just past a week over 3 months. It is coming out in the handfuls! It doesn't help that I also have scalp psoriasis and that also can cause hair loss when it flares up. Anyway if anybody can let me know when their hair STOPPED falling out after surgery I would sure appreciate it. I may be looking for a wig soon!

How Much Have Yall Lost?
Futureskinnyperson replied to courtney333's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stats are below! I am in a size 10-12 and used to be a 20! Soooooooooooooooo happy. My goal is to be a size 7-8. I don't think that my bone structure will allow for smaller! It's funny, I used to be really fit about 20 years ago.....taught aerobics and lifted weights etc and at my fittest weight I weighed 155 and was a size 7-8, so I am not a tiny person even when I am as fit as I can be! 20 years later I am hoping I can still get to that weight or close to it and wear that size. The weight loss is slowing now and it will probably take some time. But I have not been this happy for years ALREADY....so I don't mind! -
Don't beat yourself up! I understand that worry that you probably have about still not being able to control what you eat! BUT....the sleeve does help to keep it all in perspective even if you do "fall off the wagon" once in awhile, like when you are on a vacation. I think that is real life. I think that people do tend to indulge a little more on a vacation and gain a few pounds and that's OK. The difference is that the sleeve will prevent you from doing that every day like you did before the surgery!I know I had no control whatsoever before the sleeve, so I LOVE that it will stop me from being 275 pounds ever again! I noticed after I went away for the weekend and ate more of the things I shouldn't (carbs) and less of what I should (protein) that my capacity to eat increased! I could eat more suddenly this week and it scared me too! I also had some diet soda last weekend and someone told me that drinking carbonated beverages will stretch your sleeve!! Do you or anybody know if there is any truth to that? I am like you and wonder if some of this is "head" related and not stomach related! Anyway sorry you gained. That sucks. It will probably come off pretty quickly once you get back to your routine I bet! Good luck!

Oh It Was So Fun While It Lasted!
Futureskinnyperson replied to Jill279's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The weight loss slows down....mine has at 3 1/2 months. I think it is our bodies way of surviving and growing accustomed to the fuel it is receiving to function. I agree that the last 20% will come of slower and may be more difficult to get off. hang in there! It will happen! I notice my body is still changing even if the scale is not showing a big change. -
When Does It Stop?
Futureskinnyperson replied to Futureskinnyperson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks everybody. I also eat alot of protein and all the right vitamins and biotin and use nioxin.....so it seems it is just inevitable for some....and perhaps most of us that lose a great dela of weight quickly. I have had significant hair loss before in my life related to stress, psoriasis of the scalp and anemia and I know it all comes back eventually, but it doesn't stop me from feeling like I will be bald soon at the rate it is coming out! I appreciate the feedback. I guess it could be anywhere from 2-6 more months of this! Yikes. I guess bald and skinny could be my new look! -
So I was told to never drink diet soda again. At first I thought that would be no big deal but as it turns out I would like one now and again. So, can anybody tell me what the problem is with drinking some diet soda once in awhile? Someone told me that carbonated beverages of any kind are not allowed....and it was because it can stretch your stomach??!! Hmm..... I had surgery in Mexico and do not have a NUT...so if anybody can shed some light on this I would sure appreciate it. Thanks!

Thoughts On Unjury?
Futureskinnyperson replied to Sherry77's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Hi. I have been drinking the chocolate splendor with skim milk and coffee and ice almost every morning since my surgery. I think it tastes great and I feel great! I HIGHLY recommend mixing it with your coffee and milk for a fabulous mocha-choca-latta-ya-ya!!!!!!!! :-) -
Seems like you are not eating enough protein. If you join myfitnesspal.com you can enter all your food and exercise in and it tells you exactly how much fat, protein, carbohydrates and everything that you are getting and you can tweak it to get better results. I enter everything on a daily basis and it is very helpful and extremely motivating as it also tells you if you what you will weigh in 5 weeks based on your entry into your food and exercise diary that day. Check it out! I would cut down on carbs and bump up your protein though by the sounds of your diet above. I do NOT get "hungry" pursay....because protein keeps you full for longer too I find. I just know I am supposed to eat so I do. Hope that helps.

I take a chew-able multivitamin but all my other vitamins whole, with no problem. I was never told to crush them to start with and never have. I guess if that is what your doctor told you to do you should check with your doc when you can stop.

Hair Loss Anyone? Need Advice!
Futureskinnyperson replied to 803Misty's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I lost alot of hair on 3 different occasions in my life...each time related to a stress on my body.....the first time it was from psoriasis of the scalp and my hair came out in giant clumps......second time....a bad relationship caused me to be so stressed my hair came out in handfuls until I ditched the guy.......third time it was related to bleeding heavily with my period requiring a hysterectomy. I used Nioxin with the last occurence and it made it stop almost immediately. I have been using it every since so I am hoping that it will help prevent the hair loss that seems inevitable with this surgery and rapid weight looss. I am only 7 weeks out and I hear it doesn't start happening until 3 or 4 months......so we shall see. I do notice a little more than usual starting to come out already :-(. The good thing is I have alot of hair and everybody told me the other times that it wasn't noticeable....but of course when you are pulling out handfuls when you wash and brush your hair it seems like you are going bald! Good luck.....use Nioxin.....massage your scalp to increase circulation.......take Biotin....eat your protein.........there is nothing else you can do and your body reacts to these stressors by your hair falling out.....like mine seems to do.....it will just come out anyway. Skinny and bald is not my idea of sexy! Ha! Thank goodness it grows back!!! -
I Match My License!
Futureskinnyperson replied to jennrus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ha! How awesome! I can't imagine not having to give a number 30 pounds less than the real one! You are an inspiration! Definitely get a new pic. I know mine looks nothing like me anymore already so I can't imagine what 63 pounds difference looks like! -
I understand. The same thing happened to me. It seems inevitable. What I did to unstick my stall was increased my exercise and protein and water intake for ajust a few days. I woke up and lost 3 pounds! Then the weight loss has continued at a steady rate for the next 3 weeks. Just hang in there and eat more protein.....and take the dog for an extra walk and lift a few weights......it will come off!

Old Bad Habits Creeping In
Futureskinnyperson commented on phoenixgen2's blog entry in The Weight Loss Journey of VegasBusby
So I have just eaten a few chips when I want them. I am still losing weight and when I think that in the past I would have eaten the better portion of a whole big bag.....so what! A few chips won't kill you and if you really think about it, that is all you need to stem the craving and you are still going to lose weight because of the lower caloric intake your sleeve will allow. If you deprive yourself, I think it sets one up to sabotage their weight loss. Maybe you need to eat more frequently than 3 meals a day? I eat 4 and sometimes 5 times a day....to get my protein in and also have a few things that I want....like 4 potato chips or a spoonful of ice cream. That is all I eat though....just a taste to take away the craving. It works for me! Life is too short.....enjoy a few things now and again and don't sweat it! Eat a couple of Doritos but just make sure you eat some protein with them and call it a day! -
I am also 6 weeks out and also active. I am taking in between 900-1100 calories per day and burning between 200-400, so it all works out to between about 800-1000 when it is all said and done. I am steadily losing weight.....40 pounds to date....with 15 off before surgery. I don't want to lose it all in the first 4 months. I hope it continues to go at this rate or even a little slower as it will allow me to work on toning my body as the fat is coming off so there is not a big need, or maybe less need for plastic surgery. I notice a huge difference in my body in 8 weeks (including preop), so I am thrilled. Don't worry so much about the calories if you are losing weight. You are right to focus on protein and exercise and a change in your lifestyle. I don't think everyone is the same or needs the same number of calories and you should do what you body is telling you to do!
