When Do The Incisions Heal?
Futureskinnyperson posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi All! I am just over 3 weeks out and cannot believe that my incisions from the surgery have not healed yet!! Can someone tell me how long it took for theirs to heal? The biggest one....on the left where the stomach was pulled out....seems like it is never going to not have a scab on it and the others are slowly.....and it really does seems slower than normal.... healing. Is this normal? When is it just a scar and not a scab anymore? How long before the scars fade....mine are still very dark..... Thanks! -
Having lunch with an out of state friend the 1st day of my soft diet...
Futureskinnyperson replied to marfar7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You will be surprised how little you can actually eat....so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just order some mashed potatoes or very soft noodles or something that YOU can mush up...you will only be able to eat a few bites anyway. -
I see the light!

I am so happy to see these posts. I will be 10 months out in a few days too and still have ??10-15 more pounds to lose. I have also been in a stall for 3 months and am kinda shocked by how much I can eat sometimes!! I know it is not "too much" as I am not gaining weight but it seems to be just enough to maintain! I feel very happy to be where I am at but a few more pounds would be nice! It is no longer falling off and I can see that I will really have to work on it to see these last pounds go! I think I will step up the exercise and see how it goes!!! Thanks for making me know that I am not alone! -
what to tell, who to tell, when to tell...
Futureskinnyperson replied to makemyownluck's topic in Rants & Raves
I told exactly one person in my family before i did it.....just in case something happened to me so they would know. I have told nobody at work as I feel it is my business and my decision who I share this with. I have since told my entire family and 2 very close friends. That is it. I am very provate about this and do not wish to be judged or to have people thinking "I took some easy way out". It is a journey and a choice that is not entirely easy....but they would never understand that nor do I wish to explain it over and over to everyone. I tell people I am losing weight because of "portion control"....which is not a lie and very true.....they do not need to know how that portion control is happening! I told my coworkers that I went away to a fat camp resort type of place and they gave me the tools I needed to get motivated and lose weight Everyone believes me and I do not have any hassle. -

I can relate to the crying over food because I cried over cheeseburgers post op day 2!!!! It does seem funny now but it sure didn't that day!!! I have 1/2 a cheeseburger every once in awhile and still chuckle about it. Life is so good now..... And cheeseburgers do not hold the same appeal that they once did! I love that the sleeve has helped me to explore so many other wonderful things in life again! -
I had beer and nachos last week in Mexico, while on vacation! YUM!! I'm not going to apologize for indulging a little on vacation!!! That is real life and I love my sleeve and still being able to have a small amount of what I want and continue to be successful and feel freaking fantastic!!!!!!

I have popcorn all the time and no trouble.... I think some people are sensitive to certain foods though....sorry....but maybe it will get better with time?

Fantastic! You look amazing! Good luck with the last 20. I am steadily losing about 5 pounds a month for the past 3 months and I hope to lose my last 19 in the next 4 months. I am happy that my weight loss has slowed down to this pace. I am doing yoga...and LOVE it! Exercise will help to firm things up too so I hope you find something you like to do. Good luck! -
Hair loss blues...baldness
Futureskinnyperson replied to KikiCC's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Well it is great to see a discussion about this as I have asked WHEN does the hair loss usually stop for people and have never received a straight answer. This has been a great thread with the information I was looking for. My journey has been that my hair loss started 2 months post op. I am now 6 month out and it is still happening. I THINK it might be slowing down now, but I will keep you posted as more than I would like still comes out when I wash or brush it. But maybe ever so much less the last few times?? Anyway, I notice a significant difference in my hair but my family and friends say they can't tell. I don't believe them because it has been a dramatic change in my hair....less and the stuff that is growing back is so much thinner and "wispier". Wispy is how I would describe it. Now I USED to have this amazing mane. People would compliment me all the time about my hair...... Well THAT has stopped so how is it that there is no difference then? I KNOW that I feel at least half of my hair gone when I pull it back into a ponytail....so don't try to tell me you can't notice!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyway the bottom line is...it really just doesn't matter in the whole scheme of things!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so happy with my weight loss and feel freaking fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I don't like my hair right now but I am hoping it will grow back and all will be right in that department. But even if ti doesn't.....I am OK with that. I LOVE my new body and would not change that for some strands of hair!!!!!!! I am not sure if anything we do will change the outcome of hair loss. I think if you are going to lose it you do.....and some just don't. NOTHING you do will stop or prevent it from happening. Yes protein is important as a building block for all cell growth and imperative to intake any day of your life...for all your body's needs.......but the biotin and Nioxin and this and that....did nothing for me....NOTHING...I think it just has to run its course. The course is apparently 6-9 months of hellish hair loss......so hang on and get ready if you are one of us unfortunate ones that is doomed to lose the hair!!!!!! Just remember how beautiful you feel on the inside and how much you love what you are seeing in the mirror too! -

Hi! I was sleeved on July 4th and am down 75 pounds and feel fantastic! I can eat ANYTHING without any problems! 25 pounds to go to goal! I think 5 pounds a month is good for me so by one year I should meet my goal! I exercise 3-4 times a week and walk my digs every day. I am soooooooo happy I did this and have my life back! Good luck July sleeves!!!! -

Shopping is my NEW past time instead of eating!!!!!!!!! I LOVE it now and have some very stylish stuff! I feel like the old fun me and yes....2013 is going to be a good one!!!!!!!! Congratulations on your new sizes and Happy New Year!!! -
Well it would have been impossible to imagine, before my surgery, but the scale said 75 pounds are gone forever for me today! I had surgery July 4, so with the pre-op diet it has only taken 6 months to achieve this amazing goal! I am just 1 pound away from never having a 2_ _ before my weight again! Just 25 pounds to goal now and I feel absolutely FANTASTIC!!!!!!!! What a gift for the holidays and what hope I have for 2013. Merry Christmas everyone and I wish you all continued success on your journey as well!

I am 5ft 8 and weigh 199. I am a size 10 and Med top. I am so happy and shopping is fun again!!! I go to Ross or TJ Max every other weekend now! I think a size 8 is as small as my frame will allow me to be and was the size I was at my fittest weight 20 years ago!!!
-
I have hit a few stalls along the way and each time as long as I increased my water and protein and walked a few more blocks....the weight would start coming off again! Hang in there. Honestly your body needs a rest from all that stress of weight loss once in awhile anyway. It WILL come off though....if you are patient and persevere. Good luck!

Hi All....I feel like a new person and LOVE my new body. I have lost 70 pounds and am truly enjoying yoga classes and power walking and weight lifting. I am almost a size 10.....a little snug yet....but 12 fits beautifully. I feel that at the rate I have lost this weight I will be a size 8 before I know it! That is of course unless I let food interfere with my plans to be healthy and happy again........as I am a little afraid of what is happening...and what could happen in the next few weeks. There are soooooooooooo many bad things to eat around at work....... I am tired after work and have grabbed a burger too in the past few weeks......of course I can only eat half......but still.....and I don't even like it to be honest.....just an old habit creeping back..... I ate 3.....yes THREE cookies yesterday at work. I have not done that since my surgery and it scared me how easy it was to do. Then the scale said I gained 2 pounds this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YIKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! High alert.....sirens and bells.....somebody stop me...... Geez..... I mean really am I going to gain a bunch of weight just because it is Christmas????????????? Come on right?????? Sigh...... I have to fight that little voice that stills lives inside of me......telling me I WANT those things.....when I actually don't!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Back on track tomorrow..... Anybody else struggling with temptation?

I agree too. Your body needs protein and vitamins and minerals that we normally get from food to function. -

Lisa! How awesome you must feel and so proud of your achievements! Who could have imagined how changed our lives could be in such a short time! I am curious if you lost a lot of hair and at what point did it stop falling out so dramatically! I am scared I will be bald soon! -
2 Year Anniversary
Futureskinnyperson replied to Supersweetums's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Wow! Great job ! Thanks for posting this and being such an inspiration. I am curious if you had a lot of hair loss and at what point did it stop? -
Hi....so I am really scared that my hair will NOT stop falling out any time soon. It has been happening since 2 months post op. I am now 4.5 months. That equals lots of hair down the drain. The only thing I want to know is at what point does it stop???? I appreciate those of you that want to give advice....but I am eating enough protein, taking vitamins and biotin, using nioxin...doing EVERYTHING that I have ever heard of to help it to stop. It is not stopping....in fact it may be getting worse. I just would like to know how much longer this will go on.....so if you can just tell me when your hair loss STOPPED....like 6 months post op? 8 months post op? Big breath......A year? I have long hair and it is noticeably thinner!!!!!!!!!! People are asking me "did you cut your hair?"......"what did you do different to your hair?".............."is your hair different?".....so I KNOW it is not just me that is noticing. I used to have thick, beautiful....did I say thick.......... long hair. It is coming out in giant handfuls. WHEN DOES IT STOP???????????????? I know it will grow back...but at this point I will probably have to cut it soon as it just looks ridiculously thin now...... and long and thin hair is NOT a good look. Please....if anybody has had this experience......just let me know when your hair loss stopped. Thanks.

Can Someone Tell Me When?
Futureskinnyperson replied to Futureskinnyperson's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Oh good! Thanks for responding! My hair loss started at about 2 months and now at 4.5 months since surgery, I have lost a lot!!! I started taking extra protein supplements in an attempt to make it stop! I am taking in around 100 grams per day, as well as iron and zinc! I truly am trying everything and hope it stops soon! I heard on another website it usually ends around 6 months post op! Has anybody here experienced that time frame? -
