Im Not The Dr.messenger!
ann48 replied to ThinnerTiff's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I almost had the same thing happen to me....you're not at BGH by any chance are you? lol. -
I was sleeved on Oct 1st and I found that if I take my chewable vitamins it makes all the difference. Also, I am adding PB2 into my chocolate protein shake for the added energy.

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!
ann48 replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgery was Monday. You will feel better once you are home, I did. I did bring Gas X strips with me to the hospital and started them right after surgery. I can honestly say I don't have any gas pains at all today. They truly helped! Just keep sipping on water and you will be fine!! And thanks for starting this new thread! -
October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves
ann48 replied to SkinnyMinnie2Be's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Day after surgery and I am home! Surgery was yesterday at 11:30am, everything went smoothly even though I had some scar tissue left from my band that was removed in August. Recovery was smooth, no nausea or vomitting. I got up to my room and was allowed ice chips. I was given pain medication when needed. I do have a drain that will be taken out at my one week post op appt. I am a little sore, but I think I "walked" out all the gas because my left shoulder doesn't hurt as much as it did yesterday. Today they brought me chicken broth, about 4 oz and I ate all of it...jello and applejuice. Couldn't eat the jello after having the all the broth. All in all, I can say that so far it hasn't been that bad. -

Emergency Band Removal Should I Do Sleeve
ann48 replied to insanejane's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had my lap band removed on August 6th as I was having problems with food getting stuck, throwing up, not losing any weight, etc. Since I had my band removed I am having problems with over eating, almost like my body doesn't know when my stomach is full. I am having my sleeve surgery on October 1st and I can't wait!! From what I have read... the sleeve will be everything that I had hoped the band would have been. -
October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

I am having my surgery on October 1st and I don't have any pre-op diet that I need to follow. I am just wondering why most people on here have to do a pre-op diet at least 2 weeks before surgery. I weigh 242 lbs and my bmi is at 39. -
It is normal...I was having the same issue....my surgery date is October 1st and for the past few weeks I have been eating everything in sight! I think I was afraid I would never be able to eat those things again. But I let myself have 2 weeks of pizza, chicken wings, etc.and now the thought of food is no longer consuming me. I don't have a pre-op diet to follow, but I am eating much better for the next 12 days. Its like anything else, the more you can't have it, the more you want it! Don't be too hard on yourself. And good luck with your surgery!

Recent Band Removal Need Opinion's Please
ann48 replied to mandyMO's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I just had my Lap band removed last month and I have already gained 7 lbs. Its almost as if your stomach doesn't know when to stop eating because the band is no longer there. I had my band for 2 years, only lost 20 lbs and I am having the sleeve done on Oct. 1st. If i was able to do this on my own I would...but I have tried and I can't. I hope this helps and good luck to you. -

Newbie...dr Tomorrow...not Sure How To Approach The Dr About Revision
ann48 replied to cadezma77's topic in Revision Weight Loss Surgery Forums (NEW!)
I had my band since August of 2009 and wasn't losing any weight. My dr actually suggested the sleeve to me. I had my band taken out on Monday and I will get sleeved on October 1st. I think you will need to tell your dr that you really want to look into the sleeve. -
Congratulations and best of luck to you!

I had my band removed after two years because I didn't lose any weight. I weigh the exact same as I did two years ago when I had the band done. The band was either too loose and I could eat anything, or too tight and I would vomit everything I ate. So my surgeon suggested the Gastric Sleeve. I am really excited, its been a long struggle the past two years. I am looking forward to actually being able to lose weight.

I had my band removed this morning and was home by noon. Dr. Hoffman said I did not have any scar tissue or erosion. I had my band in since August of 2010. Everything is on schedule to get sleeved Oct. 1st and I can't wait!!

Insurance And Band Removal ?
ann48 replied to Krismarie0605's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I had my Lap Band surgery in August of 2010 and I am having the band removed on Monday. I am also having a Gastric Sleeve done in October. My insurance is covering both the Lap Band removal as well as my Gastric Sleeve in October. I have Independent Health of WNY. The Lap Band removal is covered because it was considered a "failure". -
Congratulations on getting the band removed!! And I am glad the procedure went smoothly for you. I am getting my band removed on Monday and having my Gastric Sleeve done on Oct.1st. I wish I could have it done all in one surgery, however, my surgeon (Dr. Aaron Hoffman) feels its best to wait at least 8 weeks to give my stomach time to heal. I wish you the best on your recovery.

Dr. Aaron Hoffman is my surgeon too! He is removing my Lap Band on August 6th, and then doing a revision to a gastric sleeve on October 1st. He is wonderful!!

Made The Decision To Go From Band To Sleeve!
ann48 replied to Beebaby813's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I can tell you that you are making the right decision to get the sleeve as opposed to the band. I am an uphappy bandster and I am converting to the sleeve on October 1st. I went with the band originally because it was less invasive, lower risk, etc. But here I am two years later going through another surgery. A brief history: I got my band in August 2010, having several fills and unfills, and never finding the "sweet spot". I could either eat all I wanted or I could eat nothing at all. I went in for a fill with the hopes of asking my dr for appetite suppressants because I was always hungry. He then told me because I hadn't lost any weight with the band in 2yrs, I was a good candidate for the sleeve. Oh how I wish I would have chosen the VSG in the first place!!
