That is great!! Please tell me what you are doing....I am at 16 weeks, started at 240 and I have only lost 40 pounds so far. I was a size 22 and now I am a size 16 and weigh 205. I admit I don't exercise at all. And I am hungry...alot. But I do eat well...protein first, then vegetables. Besides exercise, is there anything else you might suggest?

Hello! I was sleeved on Oct.1 2012 by Dr. Hoffman. Who is doing your surgery?
-
I was sleeved on October 1st...I am down 38 pounds and I am downright exhausted!! Ever since the surgery I have been severely fatigued and short of breath and nobody seems to know why. I am eating and drinking like I am supposed to, getting my protein, but its not helping. I take my multi-vitamins along with my B12 daily. I don't work outside the home, so it can't be that. I sleep at least 8 hours a night and take at least two 1 hour naps during the day. I joined a gym and would love to be able to exercise. I had way more energy when I was 40 pounds heavier!! Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Should I Be Freaking Out Like I Am?
ann48 replied to Aimstergal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't forget that the lower your starting BMI is, the slower we lose. I was at 240 on surgery and I have only lost 20 lbs since Oct. 1st. I don't count my calories but when I increased my food intake, the weight came off quicker. Just be patient. -
I went thru a "post surgery depression" after I was sleeved on Oct. 1st. And it was just like when I quit smoking. All I wanted to do was sleep. I had no interest in reading, TV or even shopping! I found that once I started eating more and taking my B12 tablets again, I felt alot better. It will pass in time. Don't forget that this was major surgery and our bodies are still adjusting. Take care.

Post Op Octosleevers 2012. Welcome To The Losers Bench!

Was sleeved Oct.1st and I have to admit, I am not feeling too good. I had more energy the week after surgery. I hate the protein shakes,I am not thirsty, I am not hungry, I am just tired. I have lost 13 lbs, but that was in the first 2 weeks after surgery. I called the doctor and they told me I have to make myself drink my protein shakes and water. Not sure what to do. -

Can We Take Tylenol After Being Sleeved?
ann48 replied to mufasas-mom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tylenol Liquid - Adult Strength has be re-packaged uder the name Tylenol Cold Sore Throat (liquid) . If you read the ingredients it only contains Acetaminophen (500 mgs). Same stuff, just different packaging and I found it in the "Cough and Cold" section at my local supermarket. Hope this helps. -

Tiffani - I hope you feel better soon. Just keep telling the nurses that you have nausea and lots of pain. Don't be afraid in beep the nurses station and ask for pain meds. I am not pushing them, but they really helped me. They will let you know if its too soon to have more meds. Did you bring any Gas X strips with you to the hospital? I did and I didn't ask if I could use them...I just used them when I needed them and they worked!! I think you said you are Buff Gen....I had RN's Stephanie and Veronica and they were wonderful!! I know how hard this is...and how painful...but you have to WALK. Thats the only way to get the gas out. Hang in there honey...it gets easier. -
October Sleevers! Announce Yourselves

Its day 10 for me and I can honestly say things have gotten alot better!!! Just came back from getting a massage and I can tell a big difference in the gas pains in my chest and shoulder. I have fibromyalgia so this surgery sent me into one big flare up. Also, take the pain meds that the doctors prescribe!!!! Don't try and tough it out!! They really help. Best of luck and Blessings to all of you !! -
I had steak today...well not exactly. Hubby made himself a wonderful steak, cut a small piece off for me, which I chewed on until he made me spit it out!! That was the deal...I could chew it, just not swallow it. And it was heavenly might I add!!!

Don't worry, I didn't have a pre-op diet either. My doctor had me follow a South Beach Phase 1 for the week before surgery and then liquids only the day before the surgery. I did have to take Miralax for 3 days before surgery as well. I ate like you wouldnt believe up until that one week before surgery and I did fine. -

I was sleeved the same day and I am a little emotional too...but I just thought it was the fact that I am sick of liquids!! lol. I did cheat and I pureed some tuna with low fat mayo, and I'll tell you....it was like eating Filet Mignon!!!! Cheer up....we've been thru alot the past 8 days!! It can only get better! -
One Week Out! And Still In A Lot Of Pain :(
ann48 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So today is one week since my sleeve surgery....and I really hoped I would feel better than this. I actually felt better the first 4 days after surgery and its gotten worse since then. I have really bad stomach pains, like when you are extremely hungry and have those hunger pangs and nothing makes them go away. My incisions are healing fine and don't even hurt. I don't have a fever. And I am walking. I don't have any kind of reflux, its just bad pain in my belly. I am on a liquids only diet so I have been drinking watered down apple juice, vitamin water, SF popsicles, and lots of broth. I add the unflavored protein powder to my broth each day. I have my one week follow up appt tomorrow and I am hoping for some relief. I welcome any ideas or suggestions any of you have. Thanks. -

My Doctor had me on clear liquids for only one day before surgery and clear liquids for 2 weeks after surgery, then pureed foods for 2 weeks, then mushies for 2 weeks. Its going to be quite a while before I have any kind of normal food!

One Week Out! And Still In A Lot Of Pain :(
ann48 replied to ann48's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh and I forgot to add that I haven't lost any weight either. -
I HAD the Lap Band....I had the Lap band surgery in August 2010 and had it removed August 2012. I had the SLEEVE surgery done on October 1st. The Lap band didn't work for me...I never lost more than 20 lbs and all the healthy food would get stuck and make me vomit. I couldn't eat chicken, salad, steak, aspargus, etc without having problems. That caused me to eat more "slider" foods such as ice cream and soft foods. I have only had the sleeve for a few days, so I cannot honestly tell you how its helping me, but I know I would definitely never have gotten the Lap band if I knew what it would be like. And I was 240 lbs at the time of both surgeries.

My 2 week post op "clear liquids" included protein shakes. Any kind of protein shakes, not just the clear ones made with water.

Im Not The Dr.messenger!
ann48 replied to ThinnerTiff's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Originally I was supposed to be in for 2 nights but I was doing so well they let me come home a day early. I had no nausea or vomiting at all. They did the leak test on Tuesday, I tolerated jello and apple juice with no problem so they sent me home and I am doing fine. I am on a "clear liquids" diet for the next two weeks. -
