Discomfort after stuck episode
Wgbem replied to Wgbem's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Peaceful1, Please do not be scared. All in all it was definitely worth it. I have not felt this good Ina long time. -
I am glad you ate feeling better...welcome to banding. Firstly, the band alone cannot stop you from eating. It does provide restriction by physically limiting what you can eat but what the band does need is you. You have to really be responsible for making good food choices in order for the band to work. You will be a while before you get real restriction so the responsibility will be on you to limit your intake etc.. I am at 8cc and finally fell restriction after 4 fills. Not to be negative on your sister but why would she bring you chicken post surgery? You are going to find that there will be people who will not move you successfully in your journey and that may include family. You should refer back to your binder for the correct foods to eat at this stage. I wish you all the best and again welcome to the band world. Best decision I made.

I was banded in September and today I had my first "stuck " episode. How do you soothe yourself after that? I felt like I had the worst heartburn ever. That has passed but now I think I irritated my stomach.

Discomfort from stuck episode
Wgbem replied to Wgbem's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, that was the case, I was eating too fast. U will NEVER do that again, I hope :-) -
The first 3 month period following surgery they are included in the post op period. After that, I have to get referrals that cover a 3 month period and I only have to pay the copayment for the office visit.

I would call my doctor if you feel something moving around. Be careful. -
I am so glad to hear that you can get filled that much and still have those feelings. I am at 8cc and was worried as to how I would be with not having much room left in my 10cc band. I just want to keep losing weight. It had bee a good journey do far.

Anyone else nave the post op pity party?
Wgbem replied to finallytime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As Cheryl says, we all ask that question. I look at myself and get so mad as I look at many things that may not have happened had I cared more about myself. Please take heart. Just be glad you found a way. If you need antidepressants get them. You deserve to be healthy in every way. Welcome to your new life. :-) -

NEWLY BANDED!!! FINALLY!!! NOW WHAT???!
Wgbem replied to sunshine412's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think the head hunger is the hardest and a continued work in progress. I find at times u will say I am starving when that is not the truth. I know I need to eat regularly but I am really not starving. I have to say to myself, you are not starving but you want to eat. This is all a work in progress. Welcome to the club and hang on for the ride. -
I am sorry someone would send such a mess. We all come here to get frank, honest information from your experience. I don 't know about anyone else but this site has been my lifeline. Not everyone wants to talk about weight loss. It is great to have all of you to share this experience with.

Floridays You are correct. It is just a hurting feeling sometimes but I have to do what I have to do. I feel so much better and that is only with 30+ pounds off. I cannot wait until a year from now!

5 months and going strong!!

I think that is great! -
The reason I don't want to tell anyone because unfortunately everyone is not always a cheerleader. I have had people tell me I didn't need to do what I did, I have had people look at me like I was crazy. It seemed as long as iwas the fattest chick in the room everyone was fine. Later down the line if I want to tell I will but it is not the lapband alone that has caused the weight loss.

I Catch Myself Wanting To Share with Every Overweight Woman I see
Wgbem replied to donna12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so glad to hear that others so it. I am a Homs Care RN and I go to several patients in a day. I was just banded in September and have a long way to go but I want to share with EVERYONE! I also see a lot bariatric patients at home post op and feel like we have a sisterhood. It also upsets me when people who have weight loss surgery take it for granted. It is such a privilege to have done it and I feel so great. No diabetic meds, on one BP med. I am the happiest I have been in years! One of my patients who has seen my loss is now going for her surgical consultation in January and she has a new lease on life. She went to the information session and is sold on the surgery. -
Wow you look great. Where did you start?

Banded: 9/24/12, pre-op weight 324.4. Today at 293.4. Total loss so far: 31 lbs. I am loving it! I am able to go into Ashley Stewart and finally fit the clothes and I am not at the end of the size scale!!!! Also off all diabetic meds and have stayed off!! -
Finally Made It To The 200's

Yes congrats! That is so wonderful! -
I work in home healthcare with adults performing intermittent visits and I was out for 3 weeks and needed every day of it. The heaviest thing I carry is my laptop but the endurance of walking I had to build up. I waited until I was on some solid food as well.

Yes that is wonderful!

What types of bras have you found to fit the best as you lose weight?

How Long Have U Been Banded?

New bander, Sept. 24, 2012. -
Kll724, I got up this morning to read your post and cracked up laughing. That was the reason I was looking for new bras. I am very far from goal but the girls seem to be going South and I need something to pick them up.
