Am I the only one on this site that is being revised from sleeve to bypass?
kristy3k replied to vicki s's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
There are others. Think there is a thread on the topic... Someone will answer shortly.. You are never alone here!!! -
Hey all... haven't been on here in awhile so am playing catch up. Still doing a ton of research even tho I am 17 months out. I have suffered with constipation issues since surgery in February 2012... Ok.. honestly have always suffered with little bit of a pooping issue. Anyway, saw on a facebook page someone who had started taking a probiotic and lost 5 lbs in one week. Granted I was intrigued.. even tho I have achieved my goal weight and then some. Seems like there are several studies that support gastric bypass patients taking a probiotic and the benefits of it. I have attached the link to one of these pages. So, I started taking a probiotic once a day. The results were immediate to say the least. When I say immediate.. there wasn't like and instant gross out take... lol... but normal... soft poop the next day and then again the next day.. and now day 3.. again normal. So sorry for too much tmi... I just wanted to share. Because seriously I have SUFFERED with this issue for 17 MONTHS and I feel like this may be the answer. Not a doctor and haven't discussed with my doctor... but have yet to find anything negative about taking a probiotic http://mercyhealth.webhealthyrecipes.com/Weight-Loss-Surgery/Good-Health/Bariatric-Nutrition/Probiotics-Help-Speed-Weight-Loss-after-Bariatric-Surgery.html

Please stop asking me!
kristy3k replied to futuremrsparker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Why is it that rny brings out the worst in women... Some women whom I thought of as really close friends have totally quit talking to me. Then someone I barely knew and hadn't seen since about 190 more lbs ago.. Lol.. Came up hugged me and started crying because she was so happy for my success. This process is hard enough... Really don't need judgement or negativity from others on top of it. Keep doing what you are doing... I think you are doing fabulously!! -
Does your stomach ever growl?
kristy3k replied to Kcarr1120's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
Mine doesn't growl but when I first had surgery the stabbing pain I felt I quickly learned was to let me know to eat something. Now I try and beat that pain and eat a little protein something every 3 hours. when I am not sleeping ha!! -
I agree with DL. About a month ago I started getting lax with logging my food intake. As I am a slave to the scale... yes I know you don't agree DL.. ha...I caught a 2 lb gain quickly. I vowed when I started this journey that it is much easier to lose under 5 lbs then 190 lbs. So, when I caught the weight gain.. I quickly got back to logging everything that goes in my mouth and upped my exercise. I was excited to see the weight come off with in 3 days. So am back to logging everything and exercising like a beast. We have come to far to see our efforts fail. Get back on the wagon and use any and every tool in your arsenal. Excuses are like butt holes ... everyones got one... only way to get it off is to be accountable!! You got this.

Besides weight loss, what has been the biggest benefit since getting surgery?
kristy3k replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Overall sense of happiness and well being. Finally happy in the skin I'm in!!! -
Im starting to get a little freaked out. I have been doing really well maintaining my weight at 154-156 for about 3 months. Hitting a stressful time right now and dropped 5 pounds in a week... wth.... I dont want to lose anymore. I cant eliminate the stress... I cant eat... Im afraid I am going to get sick!!!

To not feel self conscious when I go anywhere. To be proud of myself and my accomplishments. To be an example for others! To have the outside match the inside!!
-
I wish my taste buds would change so that I would like my protien shake!!!

Err on the side of caution and call your surgeon!!!!

Most of you know my story... Had surgery 02-21-12. Weighed in at a whopping 340 lbs. today I stepped on the scale and weighed 147. For a total weight loss of 193 lbs. I can't begin to express how much this surgery has changed my life.... For the better!! For those of you just starting out... This can be done you just have to stay vigilant to the program and be patient. For those of you still fighting for every pound you are having to lose... Keep fighting. I love this forum more then anyone can believe. It has kept me on the straight and narrow and allowed me to help others

It really does take alot of planning. I am one of those people that eats every 2-3 hours. Something with Protein. Baby bel lights, greek yogurt, chicken, fish.. I have never counted calories but my fitness pal says I average between 700-900 calories a day. I strive to get 75-90 g of protein. I have now gotten mFP set on 1000 cal. Strive to hit that to stop the weight loss and even things out. I tried swimming and weight training. But walking has been the thing for me. I started... or should I say struggled with a mile at first... slow going. Now I do about 4 miles a day and average about a 13 minute mile walking. So pretty fast pace or at least for me it is. Exercise... find what works for you because if you hate it you wont do it and I believe it is a key part to this whole process. Again thanks you guys for all your kind words!!
