Even after surgery your dr and or nut may require you to drink at least one protein shake a day. :-( my dr has upped mine to 2 shakes a day because at my year post op my protein levels were down. So I am back to drinking 2. Ugh and I'm 13 months out!! Hang in there ladies the trials you go thru now are so worth it!!!

What ya eating tonight?
kristy3k replied to OleHippieGal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For months after surgery rotisserie chicken was my mainstay. Mainly cuz it's so moist. Good choice!!! -
I agree with what everyone above is saying. Low carb. Protein will fill you up. Course before surgery I had lost that sense of feeling full. One thing I wish I would have done before surgery was to walk walk walk. Do something to get moving!!!

Hey Wayne. I started craving chocolate too and am a little over a year out. I have started eating one fiber one brownie a day. Maybe not everyday. But it's 90 cal and has good fiber which I am always in need of and a couple of grams of protein. So for me it's a good choice! And satisfies my craving.

Part of it too is in the past we failed and kept the clothes so we still had stuff to fit into. Say goodbye with a joyful heart knowing you are never going back and move on making new memories as the new healthier you -

Pulled this from an unjury email What are the symptoms of insufficient protein ? 1. Fatigue and/or weakness. Not just the feeling that we didn’t get enough sleep last night, but deep fatigue...or weakness where it’s hard to get through the day. 2. Weight loss plateau. When we don’t get enough protein, medical research indicates that the body tries to store calories rather than burning them. 3. Hair loss. We believe it is often preventable with enough protein. 4. Surgical complications. Is there surgery in your future? For many, the answer is yes. The best single numerical predictor of how well a surgery will go is your protein status. And, your body will heal slowly, sometimes very slowly, if your protein status is low. 5. Muscle Loss. When you don't get enough protein for weeks, you body starts taking protein from your muscles. So your body is actually taking muscle -- to help maintain other cells, and organs, and hormone levels. So it's possible you might be more easily injured if you regularly don't get enough protein.

Beth... You will. I thought the same way and still have a hard time believing I am where I am. That dang mind just won't keep up. 100 lbs is awesome and in a blink of an eye you will be where you want to be

New to the site - intro, weight gain after RNY? (long)
kristy3k replied to sammie4's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I agree with talking to a surgeon.. Also there is something called the 5 day pouch diet that others seem to have tried to get their pouch back in order. I would also suggest down loading my fitness pal to track food intake. A lot of times we think we are eating a relatively small amount of food and in reality we are not. Get back to basics. You can do this!!!! -
I am losing about a pound a month now. I was a year out in feb. but I have also hit my goal weight and just want to maintain now in the 150's so I don't start looking sickly. I'm a big boned girl and the 150's is about where I want to stay. May seem like a lot to some but at 5'7" I think it's a great weight.

I tell everyone who asks. I would shout it from the roof tops if I could... it has been that life changing!!!! Not once have I been judged or heard a negative remark.... at least not to my face... lol!!! Hell, I want to be a spokesperson for WLS that is how much it has meant to me.
