kristy3k replied to kristinelight's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I was told 1/2 hour before and after. I was also told protein drinks count towards water. -

Moms giving me cold feet
kristy3k replied to kailie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know how old you are but if you are iffy about any type of surgery then don't do it. This is a life altering decision not to be taken lightly. And certainly not a decision to be made by anyone but you. Research research research!!!! -
Wondering if its possible
kristy3k replied to daisykarebear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Daisy... What's to miss?? Is food more important then more energy, healthier, happier, better person to be around. You will mourn food, I can promise you that. But in the long run the things you will gain will be so much more meaningful. The mindset of food for pleasure has to change. Other things pleasure me now and food is an afterthought to keep the body going. -
go to the thread what ya eating tonight. Lots of great ideas.

Stalls are very common during this whole process. Keep following protocol and the weight will come off when its ready to. You are doing really well!!! Be patient! -

First so sorry for your loss Protein protein protein. You got this!!! -
I cant hardly do a regular scrambled egg. But I can do crustless quiche using southwest egg beaters just fine. I can also do regular deviled eggs. I think scrambled maybe too dry???? And I dont really care for the consistancy of a soft scramble.

To keep things in perspective

too funny but I was thinking... damn I would need a bathtub for all my marbles... -
I agree with Don. You will probably stay around 800 for awhile. I would focus on protein grams instead of calories. Protein is so key in this whole process. I only just really started focusing on calories because I am trying to maintain the weight I am and not lose any more.

Wondering if its possible
kristy3k replied to daisykarebear's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Geez Debbie G thanks. Made me blush a little. It can be done. Surgery weight was 340 lbs. Date of surgery 02/21/12. I have been at 158-155 for the last 2 months. Feel great. Feel sassy!! Best thing I ever did. Loose skin....psssh... I can cover that crap up til My husband wins the lottery and I can get some "work" done. This is an awesome tool that is Life changing in so many ways. Patience is key!!! You can do this. It does take hard work and dedication and a great mind set. -
Hate my arms and now that its summer I'm getting irritated!!!! Even normal short sleeved shirts look crappy with these gross arms. Venting!!!

Same thing happened to me. Had an ablation done 3 months ago which stops periods in like 85 percent of the people months 1 and 2 I had a period like I did before surgery... Normal... Which was way better then what I had been going thru. Nothing in month 3 so Maybe period free ??? Keeping my fingers crossed. Now with that being said I'm 45 and way past child bearing years so that's why I went with the ablation. Remember that your fat is releasing alot of hormones hence the heavier periods with some.

I don't know how the ones after surgery travel for jobs pleasure or whatever. Left for San Antonio Wednesday to see my daughter graduate from airforce basic training... Here until Sunday... And it's tough. Takes a lot of planning.. Also the stress of no scale... Yes I am a scale-aholic!! Making me crabby!! Upside so proud of my daughter. She graduated with honors... Top 10% of her class!!!

the only thing I found tolerable is putting a scoop of protein powder in my coffee. Yes I drink one cup of coffee a day but I am also 14 months out. I find it is the only way to get those important grams in first thing in the morning. I dont like the consistancy the powder makes yogurt or puddings. It is so important to get that protein in. Not only for our hair but for the bodies vital organs and muscle.

I went twice. Once to fill out the questionnaire and second time for results and talk about it. Personally thought it was a waste of money and time... but thru the hoops we jump!! -
Feeling weak and tired?
kristy3k replied to wonderwoman75's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Serously it took me a good 3 months to feel "normal". Make sure you are getting all your fluids in and protein and vitamins... all the usual stuff. If you havent started some sort of exercise routine might I also suggest that. I know it sounds weird and that it would make you even more tired... but it really will give you more energy if you just start with walking 20-30 minutes a day. I know at 11 weeks I was still fighting the whole mind thing of not being able to eat like everyone else which made me cranky and tired. Be proactive... make yourself get up and move. It will and does get better. If you arent feeling more energy after another week I would definatly contact your doctor if you havent already -
Just a word of caution... Dont move to quickly into stages. The pouch needs time to heal which is why the guidelines are there. Good luck on your appointment.
