Hello Everyone: I am 4 1/2 years out from gastric bypass and am experiencing weight gain. It didn’t just start and I know it’s because of how I am eating. I have gained about 25 pounds from my lowest weight since surgery and need to get back on track. Head hunger is the problem. I am back on this site for support and advice. Any words of wisdom to combat the head hunger? Fortunately I still dump if I eat too much sugar but unfortunately I have no problem eating carbs.

Blue Cross Federal
mitzie46 replied to Maloneymommy's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have FEP bc/bs standard option and the process went very smoothly. I did have to meet with someone for the supervised part. I can't remember for sure but I think it was 3 times. I had my surgery in 2013. Good luck on your journey! I think my unsuccessful attempts were proven through my PCP records. -

Is this realistic after rny?

Goodwill is my go to place. Very early on I also bought a "goal" sweater. Looking at it then, I never thought It would fit. I tried it on periodically. It was so motivating to see it come closer to fitting along the way. I was so excited the day I was able to wear it. Good luck on your journey! -
Surgery 8/3, and I'm Hungry!
mitzie46 replied to kadydid86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I remember that well! I kept thinking the surgery didn't work. It was head hunger. Hang in there and wait it out. You will be in the next phase before you know it:). I agree with daisee68. Try to distract yourself. Head hunger is a challenge for many of us. -
I'm almost 2 years out and am holding steady within 4 pounds. I really want to lose about 16 more pounds. I am also afraid of gaining the weight back. I thought about going back to protein shakes with some salads to try to jump start. I know many people have done a 5 day pouch test. I am also consider in this as an option. Good luck!

Pre-op liquid diet: How did you get through?
mitzie46 replied to wolfie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It seemed to get bet better as time went on. I tried to focus on the reasons why I was doing it and kept reminding myself that many others have done it and I can too. I looked forward to the salads. I was allowed lettuce and cucumbers with balsamic vinegar. The broth also helped fill me up. Good luck, we will save you a place on the loser's bench! -
I came here to post about this issue and saw your thread. I am 18 months out and started having issues about 6 months ago. My fasting blood sugar was 65. I did not have any issues before the surgery. Last night I started feeling bad and went to check my blood sugar and could not see to prick my finger. My husband, who is diabetic, checked it for me and it was 33! It has never been that low and I was very scared. I'm glad I was not alone. I had a couple of 50s before but never this low. I have a call into my PCP and my surgeon's office. The dietician told me before that if I continued to have problems I may have to eat more frequently up to every hour! I don't know how I could manage this as I work full time. I am waiting to talk to her again. Has anyone had this issue and then had it go away? I am really worried. Thanks

Onn occasion have you taken NSAIDs such as ibuprofen, naproxen or aspirin Motrin® , Aleve®, Alka-seltzer®
mitzie46 replied to Homecie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Talk with your doctor. I was warned multiple times to not take any NSAIDS and to make sure my other medical providers knew that. Prior to the surgery I took meloxicam on a daily basis for years. -
Call your doctor. I waited too long and ended up in the er with a severe bowel impaction. Now I take stool softeners and miralax early on when I start having problems. I hope you get relief soon.

Hang in there. I felt that same way in the beginning and had serious buyer's remorse. Now I am over 1 year out loving life! It will get better.

I took 4 weeks off and have a sit down job. I probably could have gone back after 3 weeks but I had a couple of issues. I honestly don't think I could have gone back any earlier because I was way too tired. Little things would wipe me out. Good luck on your journey.

Crystal light will be your friend post op too but only the ones without caffeine. Good luck on your journey.

What does your surgeon's office say? That doesn't make sense. You demonstrated you can follow the plan. I would not have needed the surgery if I could have steadily lost weight. Is there an appeal process?

It happened to me in the beginning and I also got extremely upset. Don't worry, it will go back down. The stalls were frustrating too but now I just try to roll with it.
