Why is it someone who has been a member for over a year can't post on the veterans forum??

Oh and I religiously used myfitnesspal to log everything I ate and track calories and protein. Weight loss was steady, this is much better way to do it. I lost initially about a stone (14lb) a month, but last 6 weeks has been almost no weight loss (maybe a few pounds) but then again it has been Christmas in UK and lots of nice parties to attend. Hope this s of help.. Let me know if you ave any more questions as almost 6 months for me now

I just eat with a very small knife and fork and plate. Nothing between meals, only water and tea to drink, but eat a small portion of anything I want. Lots of walking until weight drops then do more when you feel like it.

The Importance of Vitamin Supplementation!
hope2beslim replied to cookie2012's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have trouble taking vitamins too, has anyone tried liquid vitamins with any luck. I get a horrible feeling that something has stuck around my Adam's apple when I take one, and that's even broken into bits not whole -
I too was sleeved on 23rd july i started at 219 i am now 154. Started size 18/20 now finding size 12 is too big and can tightly fit into a 10 jeans! Having trouble with Vitamins, when ever I take them get this feeling I have something stuck in my throat and that feeling lasts all day. Anyone tried liquid vitamins and if so can you recommend a good brand... Thanks

July Sleevers----Where Ya At? :-)
hope2beslim replied to zweetnana's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Have a look at a couple of these sites it will explain better than I can about how these things work. You basically stand on the plate with a group of muscles tensed for 45, 60, or 90 seconds and the vibrations cause your muscles to become unstable which works them much faster than you could ever do with standard exercise. I have had and used one every other day for a month and I am amazed at the results. Only takes 10-15 minutes a session is really easy to do and the results are stunning http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/2007/may/05/healthandwellbeing.features3 http://www.nutracheck.co.uk/Library/Exercise/hype-about-Powerplates_1.html http://www.fitnessvenues.com/uk/benefits-of-the-power-plate Don't be put off by the price mentioned in the articles, I got mine on web and it was quite a reasonable price. I have noticed a huge difference in my shape it's really helping me tone up the flabby bits and get rid of cellulite Let me know how you get on if you get one!! -
July Sleevers----Where Ya At? :-)

Some years ago I did the lighter life diet, lost about 56lb over 4 month period, my hair fell out then, when I showered I could see clumps going down the plug hole. It was only temporary then, and when I started eating again (and put back on my weight) it all grew back. I am hoping when my weight stabilises the hair loss will stop. I am comfortably in a size 12 and maybe soon will fit a size 10, which I ave never been!! How are you all doing firming up the flabby bits??? I bought a vibration plate... What a difference that has made. Only ten minutes a day of really non strenuous exercises and have toned up incredibly fast. Can't recommend it enough. Be interested to ear any other tips for toning up and getting rid of cellulite anyone as found Keep up the good work all you July sleevers..... So pleased to hear how well you are all doing xx -

I was sleeved on July 23rd and have lost 58lb. Likewise my hair is falling out. -
During my purée stage I kept to some fairly standard food, some I found too grainey and didn't like the texture after it had been puréed. I stuck to corned beef hash, cottage pie, fish pie and chicken veg and gravy. I am now three months out and in small portions can eat pretty much anything I want. Still struggling with eating too fast. But now understand my new stomach and know when I feel full, and when to stop. This however took a lot of trail and error on my part lol. Like a lot of others on this site, I really struggle with bread, it feels like I have swallowed a football every time I have tried it. So now just avoid bread all together. Found an amazing French bread cracker (in UK) which has individually wrapped 6 little French toasts, each pack is only about 70 calories, I can manage 3 for a lunch which makes for a great low calorie meal and feels like you are having some sort of bread!! It's lovely with a little pot of low cal Philadelphia cheese and all for about 100 calories. One bit of advice when you go to normal food still try to pick soft food for a while with gravy, sauce or some type of liquid around it, this makes it much easier to eat. Good luck with your journey. I have lost 3 stone 9lb (51lb) and feel fantastic. What I love is if i am careful I can eat anything I fancy but in small quantities, and still lose weight.

Weird Pain..has Anyone Else Experienced This?
hope2beslim replied to sarah14's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a dull pain on left hand side at about 3.5 -4 weeks post op. lasted about a week and vanished. Think it was just the stomach healing up. Guess there is lots of swelling and internal bruising. Hope yours settles down soon -
As anyone used or tried a power plate after surgery??? Has anyone any idea how long after operation before I can use one Thank you
-
It's a vibration exercise machine... Power-Plate is a machine that gives the body's muscles a high-speed workout by using vibrations to stimulate them to contract and relax. They generally contract once or twice a second, but by standing on the Power-Plate, its vibrations cause an automatic reflex muscle contraction of 30-50 a second. Power-Plate is a great time-saver due to the effectiveness of training and the fact that many muscle groups are activated at the same time. It's claimed that 10 minutes on the Power-Plate will have the same results as 60 minutes of conventional strenuous training. What the expert says... Mark Andrews is a remedial therapist and Power-Plate specialist trainer. Better results in less time Power-Plate is like the microwave of fitness - you can do as little as 10 minutes and still achieve a great workout. Just wondered if the vibration would be ok following operation??

Anyone Else Have This Pain?

Tin of low fat corned beef, boil or fry some onions, mash some potatoes put all in a processor and thin to desired consistency with milk. Heat up a little at time in microwave. Really scrummy

Yes I did, it lasted about a week then the weight went down overnight by 4-5lb. I think to be honest your body stores excess water following the surgery cause all of a sudden I started passing loads of urine and then the weight came off again. Don't panic about it you will lose again just give it time

My op in UK was July 23rd. Lost 28lb from start of pre op diet (which was food not liquid - very balanced but low calorie, fat and carbs). Now on baby food stage of liquid food. It's amazing to feel full so quickly and for the first time in my life not to be obsessed with thinking about food and eating. Biggest challenge for me is to not put so much food on my plate. Still giving myself too large a portion (all be it much smaller than I used to eat) and then leaving half of it. Wonder when my head will catch on to this smaller stomach!! It's such a strange feeling for me to be able to shop and actually only come out of the supermarket with what I had on my shopping list, and not a whole load of "other" foods that just took my fancy. Went back to work 7 days after op, took things easier (self employed) so lucky I don't have a boss to shout at me that I'm not doing enough lol and feeling so much better already from the weight loss.

Don't know if it is the same in states, my surgeon said you can get them in suppository form.... May be worth asing your doctor

I really don't think you will have any problem getting them in London. Major supermarkets sell both the powder and ready made cans. Enjoy your trip, I hope the rain stays away for you -
3 Weeks Out And So Tired!
hope2beslim replied to totlyspld's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thanks to those who have replied to this thread.... I too get real tiered spells where I struggle to keep my eyes open (3 weeks post op) it's reassuring to know that's it's normal.... Thanks -
It's not half as bad as you imagine it to be. First day is uncomfortable and feeling drowsy from anesthetic and drugs... Second day I wanted to go home. Had my op at 8 am, by 1pm I was up walking the corridors of hospital. If you feel up to it get mobile as soon as you and this dramatically reduces risks of dvt, and take lots of sips of Water. Good luck... I was really nervous going in to hospital, but it was no where near as ad as I thought
