Any pre and/or post oppers interested in meeting for coffee? If we could get a little group together for a little Q & A that would be awesome. I'd love to meet some people face to face that have gone through this and talk in more detail about the process and life after. I'm in SW burbs but willing to meet wherever.

Can't wait to hear how things went Sherry77! I am working with Jason too. I have psych eval tomorrow, pulmonary appt next week and a sleep study next week - pretty sure I may have apnea unfortunately I can't get in to the dietician until 8/28!! So that's going to cause me a big delay with getting the insurance approval. Excited to meet Dr. Crane. Everyone's raving about him

Hi everyone! I've just started this WLS ball rolling in the last month and am already thankful to this group for all the info and support. I would really love the opportunity to talk to some post-oppers in person to ask some questions and chat about the surgery and life thereafter. Does anyone live in the southwest suburbs that would be interested in meeting for coffee?

Consult with Dr. Wallace went great. I am too long from breastbone to belly button to do single-incision, but that's ok. Now I wait to hear from the coordinator to set up the psych eval etc.

Thanks for the post. I talked to insurance today. My max out of pocket is $2K and I've already paid out $1K this year. I can handle $1K. I just wasn't sure how my insurance worked b/c I have an 80/20 policy. But after I've met my annual $2K they pay 100%. Whew! Going for my consult tomorrow. So excited!

Hi NicksMom! The sooner the better I know I have to schedule the psych eval and dietician appointment before approval but thanks for the tip on scheduling the other stuff early. I'll let you know how the appointment goes Thurs. So far I've just gone to the seminar. Glad to hear of good experiences at Alexian.

Hi Guys! Just starting my journey. Have a consult with Dr. Wallace at Alexian Brothers tomorrow but live in SW burbs (Romeoville). Anybody close?

Hi Chicagoans! New to VS Talk. Going for my first consult with Dr. Wallace at Alexian Brothers tomorrow. SUPER excited to get going with this. I have BCBSIL with a $1,000 deductible and 80% coverage. What kind of cash am I looking at paying out for this?

Did anyone do research comparing the two? Trying to make a final decision. Any input/opinions are appreciated. Thanks!

Vsg Vs Duodenal Switch
LawDiva312 replied to LawDiva312's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you both. The more research and thought I put into it, I think the VSG is the way to go. I have about 125 to lose and I need to change my relationship with food. I have my first consult with the doctor 7/26. I can't wait I'm getting really excited about what my future holds! Congrats to both of you and thanks again -
New Member Just Starting My Journey
LawDiva312 replied to LawDiva312's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks Kathy! I'm excited about taking this new journey -
Hi Everyone! I went to an informational seminar last week sure that I wanted to do gastric bypass. After hearing the horrors of dumping syndrome, I'm thinking the sleeve is a better option. A neighbor had duodenal switch and has been very happy with her result. Did anyone else have trouble finally deciding which surgery to do? I've done a lot of research but just want to make sure I make the right choice. I realize it's different for everyone, but your opinions are appreciated. Questions: can you get dumping syndrome with the sleeve as well? I realize there's not a lot of long term data available, but did any of you have concerns about the lack of info on long term success and issues re the long staple line? Long term success at keeping weight off? Thanks and I look forward to having you all as my new friends on this journey!
