Did You Name Your Sleeve?
LawDiva312 replied to LawDiva312's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Love all the creative names!! -
Since surgery (9/4/12) water tastes disgusting to me. It has an almost metallic taste. I'm adding crystal light which helps but it has to be really cold. I'm super-thirsty and so desperately want to chug the bottle but of course get horrible pain if I take too much in. Does the water-taste thing get better? And will I be able to drink more volume more quickly as time goes on?

Me too. 3 weeks out yesterday and scale hasn't moved in a week. Kinda sucks but it will move we just have to wait it out. It's impossible NOT to lose when we're eating 700-800 calories!

Thanks guys. Got True Lemon to start with. Tastes much better!

Lol! I name so much dumb stuff. My car is "The Bubble" my pink Schwinn bike is "shwinny the pooh" I've done it since I was a kid. -
Thanks for the suggestions everyone! What is "True Lemon" and where can I find it? I've never heard of it.

September Sleveers Whats Your Progress?

I was sleeved 9/4. Weight before pre-op diet: 285. Day of surgery: 274. Weight today (9/17) 265. Ive been really lucky and haven't really had any bad issues. I am supposed to be on full liquids still but over the weekend my desire for substance won and I had a few bites of mashed potatoes and half of a scrambled egg. Ate very slowly and had no problems. Going to follow up appt this afternoon. Hopefully I won't get in trouble! ;p -
Hey Guys! I'm not complaining or upset or anything... Just wondering what your experiences have been. I'm 7 days out. Gained 2 lbs. in hospital and I am only down 3 from pre-surgery weight. I know my body is still bloated and swollen and holding onto fluids from surgery, but I so badly want to see te scale give me a dramatic first drop. It's crazy. I've probably eaten only a few hundred calories in the last week. I just laugh now after I weigh in in the morning, look at my belly and say "are you going to let it go today?" How did the weight loss go for you in the first weeks and month?

I was sleeved 9/4, so I'm 5 days out and I feel great. The only "problem" I had was that the JP drain they put in was hitting a nerve on my diaphragm that sent shooting pain into my shoulder. It was really painful and the nurses thought it was referred pain from the gas they pump into the abdomen. After 2 nights it was no better and when the surgical nurse came in to discharge me after the 3rd night they removed the drain thinking that must be the problem. Immediate relief. I had very little nausea, no vomiting, no other issues. My stomach is a little tender and sore - feels like I did 5,000 sit-ups- but that's it. Getting fluids in is annoying. It's like the speed of an IV drip or I get has bubbles, but I know that will get better once the swelling goes down. I know some people have had it really rough so I have been very fortunate. The JP drain issue was horrible but it was kind of a freak thing. As long as you go into it knowing that you're doing it for all the right reasons and you have been fully informed and educated and know what to expect, you'll do fine. Don't freak yourself out. Just prepare yourself mentally as well as physically and a positive attitude will make it way easier. -
Chicago-Kane Ctr. Getting Sleeved Tomorrow!

Getting my sleeve tomorrow 9/4! Really excited. I started getting cold feet this morning but then had my boyfriend take photos of me front, back, and sides, clothed, then in bra and panties. The "am I doing the right thing" question went away the SECOND I saw those pictures! I had to drink a 10oz bottle of magnesium citrate this morning which kicked in about 20 minutes after I drank it. I'm now in the loo pretty much every 20 minutes. I had a SF Popsicle - had to run to toilet. Drank some G2 Gatorade - you guessed it. I'm hungry, but 100% certain my system will be cleared out for surgery tomorow. Reading everyone else's stories and the lists of "things I won't miss" are also allaying any pre-op fears. This site has been such a huge motivation, help, and resource. Thanks everyone for the support! I'll keep you posted! -

Suddenly Afraid Of My Post-Op Diet

I was sleeved 9/4 and came home yesterday. I was on Clear liquids in the hospital and now am on full liquids for 2 weeks. Had strained cream of chicken Soup when I got home yesterday (got down about 2 oz) and it tasted so good after only broth! Was able to drink 4 oz. of chocolate Boost high Protein last night and about 3 oz this morning. I am having trouble getting in enough Water because of so much gas pain. I keep doing as much as I can because I don't want to get dehydrated. It's just such a drama to eat/drink. I can feel the whole process from mouth all the way down. It's so weird. And the gurgling/bubbling is crazy. I find it somewhat entertaining. It's cool to be able to really tell what your body is doing. I don't know if it's the swelling or what but I can't tell when I'm full. I'm never hungry but I try to "eat" regular meals. I'm between 3-4 oz. but it's just so time-consuming and exhausting to do, I just stop. (plus, I surely don't want to overdo it). How do you guys know when you've had enough. Or haven't? Thanks -

I think I will. I think it's going to be helpful once the pain of surgery wears off and I'm like " wait. What did I do." -
