  1. Follow the rules or you will ruin this opportunity to get your life back. You are not supposed to eat raw veggies for 4 months, let alone all that other stuff. Eat Protein, cooked veggies, and then low carbs. get in your protein, and drink lots of water. Period.

    I am officially sleeved!

Congratulations Will!! Welcome to the losers bench. I am so glad everything went well for you! What you are experiencing is normal. Instead of the Gas-X, get a PPI like Prilosec or nexium. They stop acid production. The doctors usually put people on them right away. What you want is the active ingredient 20 MG Omeprazole. It makes you feel a lot better. Best of luck on your recovery and your trip home. Les

Straws? Can anyone shed some light for me?

I too use a straw now. I was told about the air thing, and not to use a straw, so I didn't use one for the first 2 months. Then I found out I did just fine. It's just making sure you don't suck the air down with the liquid. I suck it into my both and exhale the air. I have had zero problems. I am so glad, because my preference is using a straw.

    "C" you later

It all depends if you S/O is a tit man (or woman), and if you need to, you can always upgrade to new ones. My ex-wife was a DD, and she was miserable with back aches from them, so she had them downsized. She did it after we were divorced, but I always thought it was one of her better attributes
  5. AWESOME!!! It's a very big deal. Congrats! And just wait and see how you will feel when you hit Onederland. It's not that far away......keep up the good work.
  6. There is no need to feel any shame what-so-ever about having this procedure. For what ever reason, diets did not work. Period. This surgery allows you to get your life back. It's a difficult decision to make, and you should be proud for doing so. It took a lot of guts (no pun intended). The sleeve allows you to have a normal life after it is healed. You can eat almost everything you had before, but in smaller amounts. You won't be bitter about having smaller amounts, because you will feel full. It will get better each month, and you will not gain the weight back, as long as you don't abuse the tool by eating high calorie carbohydrates. If you stumble, no need to worry, you just start eating right again, and the weight will still come off. This is the best and safest bariatric surgery. Stop the pitty party and begin enjoying your new life. You will be thin!!
  7. You're doing good. Just keep doing it. Walking, and drinking. I know it's hard, but force yourself to sip. You can try diluted chicken broth. It is easier on the tummy. You must get you liquids in. I did not get enough, the first week, and landed in the hospital with dehydration. So it is very important. As far as protein you can mix unflavored whey Protein powder into anything. Your applesause, greek yogurt, etc. What worked for me was Pure Protein Frosty chocolate shake, heated up as cocoa. It was very soothing, and has 35 grams of protein! You can buy it at Trader Joe's or GNC. But then again, I drink Isopure okay. Hope tis helps, you will be feeling much better in a few more days.

    Carbs???

I started on california rolls a couple of months out. It was great. I had no problems, but I only eat two, and then the teriyaki chicken. A nice treat. Usually I stay away from carbs as much as I can. But like tiff said, a little here from green beans, a little there from broccoli. Other than that I have my three cups of popcorn a couple times a week. I was so glad I didn't have to give that up. It's my favorite snack.
  9. I love popcorn, and just started eating it 3 mo. out.........I don't each much because of the carbs, but it feels great to have one of my favorite snacks back.
  10. You have been given very good advice. Everyone's story is a bit different, but in the end, it's the best procedure. If you follow the doctor's orders, you will be fine. The hunger is relieved with this procedure, for most patients. So you will not be battling with food as before. You will get to enjoy all the flavors of all your favorite foods, but only in smaller in amounts than before. Best of luck to you Mr. Brickwood
  11. It's all down hill now, Maddie. The weight will just melt off, you watch. It's great that you have a pool. That's the best exercise. We are all so happy that you made it through this terrible ordeal. Congrats!

    Sagging skin?

I have major sagging in the mid section, some on the arms and thighs, but it's the face that is bothering me. I am 59 and my face suddenly looks like it is melting. I don't want to go under the knife if I don't have to, but I need to get rid of this turkey neck and saggin chin. Any advice is appreciate :willy_nilly:)
  13. Kaiser's big thing, is that they want to see you make the effort before surgery. So everytime you go in for orientation or a class, etc., they want to see some weight loss. That is why the person who advised you on wearing heaviy clothering to orientation was very good advice. It takes the pressure off of losing a bit, and give you more control. You will love your sleeve, believe me.

    sensitive to smells??

I was super sensitive to smells after surgery, to the point of gagging. It should go away any day now. I was fine after a week and a half. But boy, that first week was rough. Best of luck.

    Hunger?

Grehlin is produced by both the stomach and pancreas. My gut (no pun intended) tells me that when hunger occurs, it's most likely from the pancreas. Carbs can set it off, but for me, it is still not like having normal hunger by any means.
  16. You have this forum as a support group to help you. You will do fine.

    Was it worth it?

Be Patient. Follow the rules, and you will loose like everyone else. Best of luck
  18. I hope you all did well, and wish you a speedy and easy recovery.
  19. Great article. Thanks so much.
  20. Ahhhh......I would recommend to go to Trader Joe's or GNC and get some Pure Protein Frosty chocolate (or vanilla) shakes. They are great. 35 G of protein, and only 4G of carbs, 2g sugar and only 170 calories. That's alot of protein for 170 calories.
  21. Great post Pumpkin!!!!!
  22. Mary, You have been on this sight long enough to know what you are getting into. You are rightfully frightened right now, but you will be so much better when this is over. Get it done....gurl.

    How did you lose it?

All over. I think my legs first, then stomach, face and arms. I am only 2/3 there, so I don't know how the rest will go. But in 2/12 months, i have gone from a 44 waist to a 38. From a 2x big shirt, to a XL. It's wonderful.

    Nature's Best Isopure Protein Drinks

It's very tart, like unsweetened lemonade but it is my first choice for getting extra protein. I drink one glass everyday, and then I don't have to worry about my protein intake so much. I know I will get enough. Some flavors are too tart, so I sip with a Water chaser )
