I miss popcorn soooo much!

Any suggestions on the best way to get fiber during the first few months, before I can eat salads, etc. Thanks, Les
-
Thanks. I'll try that.)

Some people do real well straight away, but it took me a good week and a half before I felt okay. I am three weeks now, and can eat again which is what you have to look forward to. It does get better every day. You'll see. Best wishes

I have spinal stenosis and arthritis up and down by spine. I cannot exercise right now, buuuttt, I hope to have my back fused in June. That's been part of my plan. Lose the weight, then get the back surgery. I am mostly bed ridden right now, due to the pain. Even with with pain pills. I can go out for a couple of hours a few times a week, but that's it.

I don't understand why women have issues with baby food. I thought they were fine, when i needed something more solid than water in my stomach. the squash, sweet potato, and chicken/veg were easy to make and easy to it. It served it's purpose.

I was encouraged to always supplement my protein until about 6 months out, when I can eat dense meats, etc. I am 3 wks out, and I drink a Pure Protein Frosty Chocolate shake warmed like cocoa (35g protein) and then sometime during the day i will drink a half a bottle of flavored Isopure water (20g protein......i know tiffy, you hate isopure). That leaves me needing only 20 to 30g of protein in my meals, which is easy to do. like today i had a scrambled egg from breakfast and 5 small slices of bananna. 9 grams of protein from the egg and good potassium from bannana. Lunch i had a smal piece of meatloaf and a few mandarin orange pieces. about 15 g of protein and i haven't had dinner yet. the protein drinkds have a lot of calories. 160 for the shake and 80 for a half bottle of isopure. that's 240 calories before eating the eggs and meatloaf. it can add up quickly. Good luck.

keep the liquids away from you when you eat. eat slowly. set a timer for a half hour or longer. when i eat my stomach is full, and I mentally check on it still feeling full. usually i am not so full after 30 or 40 minutes, that's when i begin drinking again. It's just a new habit you will need to create. As for alcohol, I read that you should wait 4 or 5 months, and then be careful because your new stomach will get you plowed 3 or 4 times faster than before surgery. Good luck

Feeling frustrated...
lmmore replied to angel96049's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you have lost 62 lbs in 3 1/2 months, you are doing GREAT! You past the half way mark, and you really shouldn't be down to your goal weight for a year.......so it sounds like you are doing everything right. Be patient! You will meet your goal -
As a last resort you could go to the Emergency. They have to take you, and maybe they can fix you up.

lunch meats, cheese, hard boiled egg, chile relleno, the chicken in a tamale is pretty soft, oatmeal, soups, the instead of a burrito was a good idea from tifffy, i just had that tonight. i just ate around the tortilla. Chile, ground round. use your imagination. i would try a french dip without the bread :biggrin0:) -
I have Kaiser, and they covered it. They have a very good bariatric program out here in CA.

Why is there so much pain when I eat?
lmmore replied to a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You do not want to get dehydrated, and you need the protein to heal. Diluted Chicken broth, Isopure flaved water (40 G Protein a bottle). I have pure protein frosty chocalate shake warmed like cocoa in the morning. It sooths my stomach and gets 35 grams of protein in me. Find a way to get the liquids and protein you need. It's all here in this forum. Good luck and hope you feel better. Les -
I lost 21 lbs in 2 1/2 weeks. I was concerned at such a rapid weight loss, but now I have not lost one lb. in 6 days! So now I am concerned in the other direction. LOL

Tiff, I was somewhat joking with the valium. What I meant was try to find a way to relax, whether it be long walks, or long drives, meditating or whatever. Have you thought about the fact that you are always on this board giving the best advice. Could that be causing you some stress? You could be worrying about everyone on this board, and that wouldn't be good. Work with your husband on this, he probably knows how to help you reduce your stress. I also what to thank you for all your posts that have helped me through this...........you are appreciated. Les

I too have had sleep issues since this procedure. I wake up at 3am or 6 am, no matter if I take an ambien or not. I wonder what part of this operation is causing the chemical imbalance. Interesting question. Les

Take a valium

Yes, a C and K mix up. Klonopin generic brand clonazepam )

I suffer from anxiety attacks, but Clonopin has worked wonders for me. And i know it works, because if I miss a day I have an anxiety atttack. Mine started about eight years ago when my company started laying off thousands and thousands of people. I am still hanging in there, but the pressure with today's workforce can really do a number on you. I hope you find something quickly that works for you. Les

harder than i thought....

How are you doing today? Listen to Tiffykins, she gives the best advice. I would contact your doctor to see if you can get some saline solution in you. I just finished my second week, and the end of the first week i ended up in ER for dehydration because i could not drink as much as I was supposed to. I am fine now.......feeling better every day. I was not expecting to feel so crappy the first week either, but you will get through this, and you won't regret it. Just drink ANY liquids you can........chicken broth with 2/3 Water warm worked for me. i can drink a 40 gram bottle of flavored Isopure everyday. You can do this. Les -
Hard to believe no one has posted on this forum....Happy Easter I was wondering if anyone had advice on the best Vitamins to get. I have plenty, but I am concerned about whether they are strong enough or whether they are they ones i should be taking. Appreciate it. Thanks, Les
