Any People With Gastric Sleeve Leaks?
lmmore replied to Driver63's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Driver63, were you told why it took so long to discover it? This could have been very very dangerous, and is on eveybody's worry list. Did the leak no show up on the original Xrays, or did it happen later. We are all curious. Or is that nosy..... -
Best of luck to you....i now pronounce you the Red Lobster :001_unsure:)

Good for you Edie! You won't regret it. Welcome to the group, and best wishes.

you shouldn't have to be at a BMI of 40 for five years. Find out where it states that in the policy. I would approach it that you would be exposed to a lot of risk during the next 4 years. Checking with you surgeon or PCP for ideas is a good way to go. I was initially rejected for some stupid reason, and my PCP called up the bariatrics and told them they should be ashamed of themselves. I was in orientation the next week. It's good to get someone on your side, to help you fight the battle. Don't give up.....fight it.

Ready to Start Living Again
lmmore replied to Brian66's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Deepest condolences on your loss. You have come to the right place for information and guidance. I can tell you from experience that this procedure works, and there is little down time. You're young, so you should be doing well quickly. It took me a couple of weeks to feel good, but I am 59, with other issues besides weight. This surgery has a real high success rate, and basicly lets you live like you did before, except with less food. Because they remove the part of the stomach that creates the hunger horrmone, you shouldn't really feel hunger after you have this procedure. Although, a few people do. Good luck to you, and any questions, just holler. -
The chicken soft taco is not bad either. At Macdonalds you can order the chicken wrap. The best thing to do, is to google all the fast food places you go to for their nutritional information. You will be shocked because there is soooo much salt on everything. But, what I found is that it wasn't too bad if I searched for the highest protein item with the lowest salt, while also checking out the carbs. They all seem to have something you can eat. Maybe something you even like.

How to sip without getting in air. . .
lmmore replied to butterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
STCYT is right. Let it settle in the back of your throat, exhale through your nose and swallow. That has helped me reduce gas intake immensely. -
Worried about throwing up
lmmore replied to CoachKK's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have not thrown up, but have come close. Just this morning I had a scrambled egg and half a slice of toast. I guess i ate it too fast, and I got queasy. i sat up and walked around the house for a few minutes, and I was fine. What your doctor told you is kinda correct for me. If I eat too much, or too fast, I get queasy. Luckily I so far have managed not to vomit. -
Sounds too big to me, but I am no expert.

Sleeved 5 days ago ectreme gas. . .
lmmore replied to butterfly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When you sip, try your best not to let any air go down with it. Are you talking Nexium or Prilosec...it is for heartburn but helps with the gas as well. And as the other posters have said, walk. Try not to lay down when you are drinking. There is less gas if you sit up. hope this helps. -
Friends Questioning if this is the right surgery!
lmmore replied to hockey66's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
You may also hear comments that the sleeve has only been around a short while, that it is still experimental. That is hogwash. This procedure has been done for 25 years. First as part of the Duodenal Switch procedure, where they perform the sleeve, the patient loses a hundred pounds or more, and then they do the RNY. There were such good results with the sleeve, that they decided that this could be the main procedure for many people. That is what has been around for only 4 or 5 years. Knowing this gave me alot of confidence in the procedure. I guess it bugs me when I hear the term experitmental. -
Tomorrow (5/3) is surgery day!
lmmore replied to mslpr's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You will do great. Best of luck to you. -
Good for you Richard! The sleeve is a great choice. Lose that 10% and you're on your way. I will be real curious to see how the weight falls off of you. There are alot of success stories on this sight, and I am sure you will be one of them. Best of luck.

I have become a champion BURPER!
lmmore replied to goodlife's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, there is a lot of gas from surgery. Luckily it wasn't painful for me, and I don't think it is for you. You won't be annoyed for too much longer. Just keep burping. Although, when I drink a lot of water, I still burp, and also after eating. So it doesn't go away completely. -
It is much easier to manage weight loss after a Sleeve than with a band. There is not the problems with band fills, no waiting to get to the "sweet spot" of ideal restriction and the reduction of the Ghrelin hormone allows patients to eat small portions without hunger (For the majority). It's less invasive than a Bypass, and doesn't have the on-going difficulties with dumping and mineral deficiencies that a bypass creates. The sleeve is great. I initially was going to go with the band, and it was my surgeon who told me the sleeve would be best for me. And boy, was he right.

New and different case
lmmore replied to JillianMarie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Maybe you will find someone who is compasionate enough to do the surgery. But they have strict regulations on meeting their criteria. Wish you the best of luck. -
Goodlife. I had a problem that first week with broth. But once i tried it diluted with 2/3 water. It was a great warm feeling to my stomach, and made me feel human.
