Not to undermine the seriousness of this, but here is an in depth article, that talks about all the uncertainty with these studies. They were done not by tests, but by looking at medical files. They did this over a five year period not seven. Medical News: Two Studies Highlight PPI Risks - in Gastroenterology, GERD from MedPage Today

The article went on to say that these symptoms do not usually show up for about 7 years.

I had a reall problem with smells for about 10 days........then I was okay. When I checked out of the hospital they removed my IV and I didnt' realize I was bleeding until I smelled it. BLOOD! I said "Les you can smell like a vampire", and then I said "Les, there are no vampires." )

Any People With Gastric Sleeve Leaks?
lmmore replied to Driver63's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Glad you're doing better. Now go improve that golf game :001_tongue:) -
Best of luck Lori. Being a vegatarian is going to be a little more challenging for you since you will need to get 60-70 grams of protein in each day. You can do that with protein drinks. Where others can eventually move on and not have to supplement with protein drinks, you will most likely have to take them the rest of your life, unless your will to add fish or chicken to your diet. The key to losing so much weight, is that for the first month you are drinking liquids (including protein) and low carbs. This throws your body into Ketosis, which makes your body use stored fat for energy instead of carbs and sugar. Many here can lose 20-35 lbs in one month, if they follow the instructions their doctors give them. Then weight still comes off, but a little slower.......some people lose 100 lbs in six to nine months, but they really work hard to make that happen. No cheating. No sugar, low carbs, etc. You have many people here who can answer any and all of your questions. Here's to great losing.....

Question about sleeping positions
lmmore replied to Curvyjudy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I slept on my right side the first week. I don't have an easy chair, so I propped up pillows, so that I could sleep somewhat on an incline. It's hard getting comfortable the first few days.......but it goes by so fast. -
Question about first day home
lmmore replied to big_kahuna's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you can have someone stay for a couple of days to help you. Everyone here is spot on. You can do, but you would be more comforatable if you can have someone to help a little bit. -
Pacific North West Kaiser Help Needed
lmmore replied to saramoonrize's topic in Insurance & Financing
Kaiser prefers to do the Sleeve surgery. I had mine done by Dr. David Le in So. San Francisco on 3/28. Check again with them.......they have the bariatric program. There are many classes, but if you're smart you can schedule them close together. I got throught the whole program in 4 months. If you have to have it done down here. You're covered. -
Appeal. If you have a good doctor, he should be able to write up a statement that convincingly shows you need to have this done. They are good at that stuff. You have nothing to lose.

Got me. )

Best of luck........my surgeon turned my down for back fusion last week.......he wants me to lose most of my weight first. He told me that with my system canablizing itself (his words), he thinks it will be safer to wait. He told me October, so that's just one month longer to wait than you I guess. But, as you know, when you are in this much pain, you want it over with already.

Yeah, i put my aspirin away 5 days before surgery. I am sure you will be okay. Just tell them......they'll probably give you less Heparin LOL -
12 days out! 24 lbs down!
lmmore replied to victorbeatles's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your are doing great. Some people don't stick to the program (and I dont' mean you Goodlife), but you're doing it up right. Good luck on your continued success. -
I hear they buy their staples at Office Depot..........ONLY KIDDING.

That sounds like a high dosage. But, you may not be getting all of the medicine if it sticks to the side of the glass you're drinking from. Ask hime why he has you on that dosage, since most people are fine with a 20mg pill....once a day. All the issues you are experiencing, I had, except for the gas. You will start feeling better in a few days, and most likely feel normal by day 14. Although I must say, i still get week and fatigued pretty easily. I think it's my age (59), and that I have unluckily had quite a few surgeries, and that where's on the ol body. Best of luck to your speedy recovery.

Glad to be home...finally!
lmmore replied to pmhunt73's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
you poor thing. You've been through alot this week. I'm sorry you have the chest pain gas. I was lucky not to have that, but many people do. You remind me that when I got home from the hospital, I was looking forward to my "heavenly bed" , but i was very uncomfortable. Even though the hospital bed was not the best. I found the incline seemed to help me manage, and when i didnt' have that at home it was harder for the first two days. It will get better for you, each day now, but try not to get dehydrated, even if you have to into ER and have them hook you up to saline for a few hours. Best wishes. -

sorry, never heard of it. How dark is it? and, how much of your stomach? When were you sleeved? I was wondering if maybe it was a reaction to their blowing up your stomach to do the procedure.......I hope it doesn't hurt
