Jesser replied to crystal556655's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Hi! Dr. Z did my surgery about 3 years ago! I’ve had zero complaints! He’s an excellent surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone! You’re in good hands with him! -
Hello everyone! I’m researching plastic surgeons in Mexico! If you’ve had great results and would like to share with me who you went to that would be awesome! Thanks

Conflicted about having surgery :(
Jesser replied to kitcatsheart's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I haven't logged on here in quite a while, but I totally understand being nervous and scared to death to go to Mexico. It's worth it though! It's so confusing trying to pick the right surgeon for you. But I can say there are a few I would trust and a few I wouldn't. Don't make a last minute decision on who you want to do this procedure. I personally went with Dr. Zavalza and I haven't had any complications at all and I'm almost 2 years out. -
Love Dr. Z and the whole team!

I have talked with several people over the years, getting feedback on all the surgeons in Tijuana. Most have really good reviews. Except one. Dr. Almanza. I was communicating with a man the other day who didn't really do any research on his surgeon, so he went with Dr. Almanza...big mistake. His story is so sad and that's why I am on here because he has no clue how to get on here and tell his story... But it's a legit story, you can even look him up on Facebook and ask him. His name is Steve Kaiser. Dr. Almanza made his stomach the size of a spring in a ball point pen. He has went through more surgeries to try and fix this, but his stomach keeps collapsing. He hasn't been able to eat food since August his medications are over $1,000 a month. He just went through another surgery on Friday to convert him to a bypass since he can no longer use his stomach. It took 2 surgeons and 4 hours to fix it. They said his stomach was twisted in half and kinked. What bothers me about this is he has yet to receive a phone call or anything from Dr. Almanza or his facility which is a complete joke. Not a real hospital. It's called a woman and children's clinic which is a complete shithole. Please do not take a chance and go with this doctor. Just google his name and read all the horrific stories out there he has. There are too many surgeons, good surgeons in Tijuana that will do your surgery safely.

Approved for Financing....Freaking out a little
Jesser replied to FancyCakes's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
To go to Dr. Alvarez, you probably fly into San Antonio. He has a wonderful reputation and I briefly considered going with him, but I just couldn't afford it. I think there are highly skilled and competent surgeons in TJ, so that's where I went and Dr. Almanza no bueno!!!! Lol -
Just browsing around... anyone near SETX?

Before booking with certain doctors in Tijuana, please do your research on them! Whether it be on here or other informative websites. If you type their name in google and a bunch of complication stories pop up... Helloooooo lol might be a red flag. Here's a brief story of one of my friends that went with a surgeon without researching and he deeply regrets his decision. There are too many good ones in Tijuana to go with one that does as many people as he can squeeze in. How do they even have time to clean the OR in between patients? Hmmm. From Steve: If I would have a researched and done my new due diligence I would not have went to Dr. Almanza, just for the sheer fact of the quantity of patients he takes a day! However, those who know me know I'm very impatient! I decided to get the surgery so I found a doctor scheduled my surgery, booked my flight and flew out of here! The worst decision of my entire life is not doing research! And to think, every other aspect in my life I research the heck out of! I honestly thought this procedure was no big deal, everybody gets it done! I am amazed to know after my ordeal there are people out there that would consider him after reading my story. Let's say for one minute that he only did this once and it was to me. Just the fact Dr. Almanza never returned any of my phone calls, never returned any of my surgeons phone calls, never returned one single phone call that alone would make me run like hell! I am a very fair, honest, logical and sensible guy! If Dr. Almanza did the right thing - I guarantee you I would not be discussing him right now! If he followed up, helped my physicians, sent surgical notes or if he did anything to assist me, I guarantee you I would not say bad things about him. I cannot believe I did not even get one single fucking phone call! We needed him so bad, you guys have no idea!

I had Dr Zavalza. Very good doctor! Don't be worried at all. Dr. Almanza was the one you needed to be worried about and they don't work with him any longer. -

Another Testimonial for Dr Zavalza
Jesser replied to TheLumpyOne's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Love Dr. Zavalza and Dr. Luna! You can't go wrong with them! -
My calves have been sore since I had surgery so I just thought it would go away. Two days ago I noticed what looks like to me, a vein that is kind of lumpy on my lower right calve. It isn't painful, but I can tell it doesn't feel like my other leg. I'm not running a fever either. What could this be? I read last night that sometimes you can't even tell there is a blood clot and you don't know it until it gets in your bloodstream.

AnnaMarie, does it feel a little sore? Its not warm to touch, just kind of more sensitive than my other leg

Jesser replied to HEALTHYLEE's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I was going to do the single incision as well, but after hearing from others that the scars are barely noticeable I went with the regular sleeve to save me some money -

I have a friend who had his dreadful experience as well. Talk to him all the time. He might be able to eat food eventually now that they have converted him to a bypass
