I live in Texas and I looked into Dr. Alvarez as well. He's closer to me, has a great reputation and he communicates with his patients all the time- which I love! I also loved how he has an annual reunion! I would love to meet up once a year and reunite with fellow sleevers, but once again the money issue. So, I researched some more and came across Dr. Aceves, who is about the same price as Alvarez. They offered the payment plan, so I figured this would be the perfect opportunity to go to a great doctor AND be able to afford it! And then my car breaks down. Realistically I need to save as much money as I can so I can replace it. So, I'm back to looking at surgeons in the 5,000 price range again.

Dr. Aceves is the only Dr. that I can say I'd be 100% comfortable with. There are a few other doctors that I have considered, but questioned the hospital staff, etc. I've just decided to go with my gut and go with Aceves

The only thing that made me somewhat uncomfortable about going to Dr. Ponce is that he doesn't speak English, but I've read wonderful reviews from people that have went to him! I am leaning towards Dr. Aceves in June if I can get the money saved up!

Hello! I am aiming for June sometime with Dr. Aceves. still trying to save up money

So, I've been trying to convince my family that having surgery in Mexico is fine despite all of their efforts for me to not go. Then a lady that works with my stepfather went to Mexico, had the Lapband and is in the hospital here in the US with major complications. They aren't expecting her to make it. So now my family is freaking out on me even more about going down there. I'm not sure who her surgeon was, but I'm trying to find out. But still, complications can arise regardless here in the states or Mexico! Last night my mom just looked at me shaking her head and said "Well, no Mexico surgery." I just stared at her and told her that I was still doing it. It's my life and my decision and I'm not changing my mind. It's really disappointing when your family refuses to support you, and tries to sabatoge you in every way possible :/

So, with a clot you just can't help it? If you get one in the wrong place you're just screwed or what? :/ I'm scared about this

I was interested in Ponce, but had a hard time getting replies as well. I did finally get one, but took several attempts. I'm certain Dr. Ponce is a wonderful surgeon, and I have heard great things about Trish, just the lack of communication is what made me look elsewhere.

Is anyone planning on having surgery in June?
