    Bariatric Choice/wonderslim

I bought the calcium chews and vitaband from them. The chews are good, especially caramel, but then I couldn't believe it was going to take 30 carbs to reach my calcium count each day, so they were sent back. I did receive one of their wonderslim crispy bars as a free sample and it was pretty good.
  2. Same here, my first week I couldn't believe how much I was sleeping. I could take 2-3 hour long naps and still go to bed at night, which is not normal for me . But you are healing, the surgery is minimally invasive, but still major surgery, so let your body recoup, your energy will come back soon.

    2Nd Day Post Op

Congratulations on getting through your surgery! I'm not sure exactly which "pressure" you are referring to, but this is what I experienced, I had mine put in on the 9th of July. First 2 days the top of my back into my shoulders was extremely tight and hurt, I thought it was from laying on the couch (stayed at my dad's place right after surgery), but I think it was gas because by day 3 it was gone (and I had slept on the couch again). As far as the gas pain in my shoulder, that did not go away until about 5 days post op. Some people experience it a lot longer, but this is just what I experienced. Search "gas pains" on this forum and their is lots of information, that's what I did after surgery .
  4. Just some random things my nutritionist suggested and were really good: Ricotta cheese and pizza sauce Pureed tuna salad, no relish Cow cheese (triangle soft cheese) Refried beans thinned with chicken broth
  5. I saw my nutritionist last Friday and she had mentioned the biggest complaint she got from patients is that they are tired and she emphasized that it's because of not getting enough water.
  6. Anyone have any problems with whey protein? I only have 1 shake in the morning each day, Optimum Nutrition, but every afternoon I end up having a lot of gas and it's pretty bad, Gas X doesn't even help much. I'm thinking about trying Plantfusion protein, but was wondering if anyone else had any suggestions? I don't think I'm lactose intolerant as I can drink milk, eat cheese, etc. but something has to give and I know I can't get all my protein from food alone.

    Help Need Advice

Congratulations on your recent banding! I was banded 07/09 and like the previous poster said, it does get better! The best thing that helped me with the gas and my shoulders were tight as could be for the first 2 days, I thought it was the couch, lol, but walk, walk, walk. I also took gas-x, but walking somehow helps your body absorb it faster and this helps get rid of the pain. And the only pills you should be taking is if they prescribed you any, I only got some for nausea that were really small and I fortunately only needed once and the liquid pain killer was very helpful. I was told I could take Aleve also, but always ask your doctor, this is just what my doc said.

    Soft Foods????

Thanks Sojourner! I stopped adding relish, I didn't know this, when I heard tuna salad, well I made tuna salad .
  9. I was banded 07/09 and fortunately the surgery gas is all gone, but now every afternoon my stomach starts this gurgling (for lack of a better word) and I have really bad gas. Has anyone had this? Is this protein doing this? Is this something this will inevitably happen after surgery?

    When Is Enough?

My nutritionist says 3/4-1 cup per meal.
  11. Hi Fericito, I asked about this the other day and someone on here pointed me in the direction of this on Amazon, I ordered it, but didn't receive it yet, so I can't comment on if there's any flavor or anything yet. http://www.amazon.com/Foods-Whey-Protein-Isolate--Pounds/dp/B0013OWAB4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1342926200&sr=8-1&keywords=now+unflavored
  12. Thank you! Check this one I just found. I really don't like oatmeal, but should be eating it and this would combat oatmeal, protein, and the sweet tooth all at the same time.
  13. I would like that recipe too, I was just literally shopping for protein bars for the same reason
  14. Hi all, I was banded 07/09 and went for my check up 07/20 and I asked about the port pain and the nurse said that it's about 2 months before the port soreness goes away . My incision area is sort too, but I get the stinging sensation to the right of the incision, so I'm not sure if the port is stitched right under the incision or to the side of it, but it's painful at times. I also found that my pants rubbing against this area is not helping, but at least they are looser, 18 lbs down, woohoo Someone on here said they started wearing spanks like a week after their surgery, I have no clue how she does it, I'm all about loose undies and pants/capris. I started putting silicone scar strips on my incisions and that helps with the rubbing too. I'm amazed at the difference in wearing these things for 2 days and how the incisions are healing up.

    Soft Foods????

Why did they say no relish? Do the meat salads pretty much only consist of meat and mayo? I'm just starting on soft foods, I got the okay today.
  16. Thanks, I didn't think of that and I do drink with a straw a lot since I'm sitting in front of a computer all day, worth a try.

    A New Guy....

Good luck, you can do it!
  18. Anyone have any suggestions on an unflavored brand to mix into food? I went into GNC and they only had 2 options. One was Soy which supposedly can mess with your estrogen levels so I'm not even trying that one and the other one was not a whey isolate. I also found out that Optimum Nutrition says Whey Isolate, but only has a little bit of the isolates so they are permitted to put this on their label, unfortunateli as I just put in a big order for this.
  19. I'm confused about the pureed diet for 2 weeks after lap band surgery, am I really supposed to continue the 1 oz pureed food or 2 oz liquids every 20 minutes for 2 weeks after the surgery? I don't see how it's feasible to get 6 mini meals and 48-64 oz of water doing it this way and to be eating or drinking something every 20 minutes.
  20. I'm not sure what instructions your doctor gave you, but specific to Curry they breakdown pureed foods as being a separate phase from mushy foods. That is a lot of liquids, have fun with that. I don't believe you should be doing the ckn salad yet, but per my instructions, I should be, but the instructions are confusing to me. I checked out the lap band allergan web site (which is the one "installed" for lack of a better word and they even say 2 weeks liquids, so I'm really worried about why my doc is saying to do pureed already. Hopefully both of us can shed some light on this tomorrow, I decided to do all liquids today until I talk to the dietitian tomorrow. Good luck! But like you, I'm having a heck of a time drinking all this liquid, I'm not hungry and feel full easily right now, my stomach must still be swollen.

    Banded Tomorrow

It's not as bad as it is probably in your head, at least for me it was not. I was really nervous, scared, and hate needles, blood, and all that kind of fun stuff, so even getting the IV was hectic But you will get through it and the sooner you get up and walk after surgery the better you will feel. They had me in this chair right after and when I woke up I wanted to cry and then got mad and then cry again, but that's the anesthesia come to find out, I was wondering what in the world was wrong with me. I was sore, but not excruciating pain or anything, but when I got up and walked, I felt a hundred times better.

    I've Been Practicing!!

Good luck to you, you can do it!

    I've Been Practicing!!

Do you have to do all liquids after the surgery?
  24. 2012

    Need Food

Wtloss, yeah, they said that too. The directions are very confusing and I have stuck to the 20 minute rule because how the directions come across, guess I will have to stick to it until Monday when I contact them. Maybe it's this way since I could start pureed the day after surgery and did not have to do another 2 weeks liquids like I'm seeing others on here have had to do.
