I'm doing 60+ grams, so I agree that could be an issue and I may need to amp this up more, but I'm only going to ask for a little, last time I think she did like .2 CC or something, can't remember.

How Long Does The Surgery Take?
2012 replied to RichGirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
They quoted me 1 hour for the lapband only surgery, but I ended up being over 2 hours since he fixed my hiatal hernia (had no clue I had it, you sign a waiver that consents he can fix it while in there doing lapband) and got the lapband at the same time. -
This is a good idea! I need to do this too and I'm totally with you on the high heels, airline seat, and stairs, I'm on the 4th floor and the steps are killers Actually an airline seat from Cincy to Texas (and back) is what pushed me over the threshold to get surgery in the first place. It was a horrible experience, most uncomfortable plane rides I ever had, I was pouring out over the seat, fortunately on the way back, I did not have to sit next to anyone and pour over into their seat .

I weigh every Sunday to see if I lost, but went early today as I was anxious about Thanksgiving and as long as it's the same tomorrow, I'm down 3 this week, woohoo! Passed the 60lb mark and 1lb from being out of the 200s!

Hi LoveTheNewMe, would you mind sending a link to this questionnaire you are referring to, I did not have any luck with finding it? I don't get asked too may questions about fills when I go in, but it may be that I go in telling them about time between hunger and thinking I need a fill, but I only like little fills at this point (fear of being too tight). I have my 4th fill coming up this Thursday and I am getting hungry before 4 hours on 1 cup of food, so I think I need one, but I'm interested in the questions as well.

Oh yeah, the first 3 or 4 days I was sleeping on and off like crazy and still was able to sleep through the night. I'm not really a nap person and this was unusual for me, I don't know if it was the medicine or just the fact that I had surgery, but I wanted to sleep a lot. I got back on track through the next week when I went back to work.

Here's the thing though, we paid attention to how much and what we are eating, I believe that is the difference. We are taking into account what we are doing, but still enjoying ourselves. I too had a bite of everything and did left overs the next day, but stuck to the 1 cup portion and that turkey really makes you tired no matter how much you eat, lol. But now back to the healthy eating lifestyle and we are good til Christmas .

And you may have some pre-fill instructions, I have to not drink or eat anything 3 hours before a fill and like Cheznoel said, the liquids after this, but I have to go through all stages like surgery time after each fill (liquid, mushy, soft, solid). If they have problems finding your port (my first time they did, but had an inexperienced nurse) a tip that has worked every time I have gone for a fill (lot of my weight in my belly) is to put your arms straight over your head and do an ab crunch with knees up as you are lying down, it's not easy, but better than them sticking you multiple times. And you may not feel the needle, the place that does mine uses a numbing spray so I can't tell she is doing it and I'm terrified of needles so this was very important to me.

How Long Should I Take Off Of Work?
2012 replied to Jenny12's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I too have a desk job and took off a week just to play it safe, everyone has a different level of pain tolerance and you never know how you will react to having surgery, so like I said to play it safe if you can afford a week, I would do this. Your doctor may even have a suggestion. -
In Need Of A "unconventional" Mentor? ???
2012 replied to SteveFrett's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the recipes Steve!! -
So I just got off of the treadmill and I can't stand my flab jumping around when I'm trying to run (doing the C25K program), does anyone have any suggestions on supportive active wear to help with this? Like something really supportive that has wicking capabilities?

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Thanks all! Cheryl, wicking is where the clothes help with "wicking" away sweat I guess it dissipates it faster or keeps it drier somehow, I get heat rashes really easy and this would help with that.

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
2012 replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I noticed some mention of crashing between days, are you guys still experiencing this, or has it eased up? -
I thought I would share this as I was a bit excited by the sugar free, low carb recipes this lady is making, some really yummy looking stuff, even cadbury eggs! Here's the link: http://healthyindulgences.net/, look to the bottom right for links to different recipes.

I noticed a recipe for Wendy's chili, so I imagine some dinners are on here too. I just ran into the website looking for a low carb granola recipe and it popped up

Woohoo!!

Swai fish with tarter sauce, doesn't smell fishy, taste fishy, and is really moist, goes down good. Lately I've been on a kick and breading it (low carb bread crumbs), cook it in the oven, and made my own tarter sauce and it's delish. Even if you hate fish, I would give this a try and it's cheap too!

I do 2 cups of regular coffee a day and I still do creamer but I did switch to sugar free (powdered has more flavor) and use stevia (but have always used this). So not really stopping what I used to do, just being smarter about it, like I actually measure how much creamer I'm using and pay attention versus before when I just used the fat free (high carb) and just poured away.

How did you know something was wrong? Couldn't keep anything down? Pain?

I'm trying the black bean chocolate cake for Thanksgiving and if it's bad, I'll just chock it up to being a healthy cake (I'm not hosting so other desserts will be available)

Is This Normal Or Should I Call The Doctor?
2012 replied to Banditiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know after surgery my throat was hurting from being dry for about 2 days, I ended up sucking on some lozenges or I imagine hard candy would work too, to help out. -
Great for you! It took me 2 years to decide on getting lap band, but as I finally realized I was getting nowhere, here I am 4 months after lap band with no regrets. Let us know if you have any questions.
