Do you mind if I join in? You can add me 2012ALM. I love the journal, I have only had to add a food once.

I'm too scared, and think I will try it myself.
2012 replied to SandyC2's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
And remember a lot of people only post on forums or on Youtube when things are going wrong, so things get badly skewed and if you only see the negatives, it does look bad and make it really scary. I had someone in my life that was very successful, now 3 years out, and it took me 2 years to decide to have this done and I've been overweight and trying to keep it off for a very long time. I understand your fears, but that is one of the reasons I had the lapband, this thing can be removed if I do happen to have complications. -
Woohoo, I'm happy for you! We can celebrate together, I just finally got out of the 200's today. Yay, happy Sunday!

Before and after a fill. . .
2012 replied to Banditiff's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here as wildrose, nothing for 2 hours before a fill, but I have to go through all of the steps like before surgery after the fill for 24 hours each (liquids, mushies, soft, regular). -
You could also try doing a half dose, like half of a shake in the morning, and the other half mid-afternoon or so. I have the digestive problems you mention with most whey protein isolate drinks (except Isopure) no matter what I mix it in, but in the past, a suggestion to me was to half my intake, did not work for me, but it may for you.

why does a fill take a few days to "kick in"?
2012 replied to kyrasgrandma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't know the "why", but I do know with my last fill it took a few days before it kicked in for me. -

Day 3 of Pre-Op Diet - Shake suggestions?

Just an FYI, but the Atkins Advantage website has a coupon for the shakes and you can get 3 bars free for signing up. -
Actually I just asked my nutritionist this last week because I use myfitnesspal to journal my food and found that some days I only get 5-600 calories, which worried me this is not enough. She said she was not worried about the 800 calorie days, but I needed to work on the below 800 calorie days. They (my nutritionists) really don't use calories in what I'm supposed to eat as they focus on protein and carbs, but I still see the calories and just think that is too low, even if I'm not hungry.

Pearls probiotics help keep me regular. They took about 2 weeks to kick in, but before surgery I used Sustenex which worked really well and I wanted a smaller sized pill after surgery, so I switched. In the beginning right after surgery it can be a bit of a rough transition, I had to take MOM.

You two are very lucky, in Ohio I paid $13000

I promise it will get easier, just get over this small hump and you'll be golden You can do it!! I went from fast food practically every day to getting a new love of cooking my own food and eating healthy, sounds corny now, but I promise it will happen.

Carb Cycling- An Experiment Gone Right!
2012 replied to DELETE THIS ACCOUNT!'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So how is everybody doing that has been carb cycling for a few weeks, are you still consistently losing? I think I'm hitting a plateau and may just give this a try and will take advantage of the high carb days to bulk up on veggies. -
Mine is to the right and they usually access it with the needle not too far from my biggest incision scar in the middle of my stomach.

Give it time to let that tiny fill to kick in before you think about another fill. I had a small fill last week (I want it that way, don't want to over fill, unfill and go through all that mess) and at first I thought this fill did nothing as I knew I needed something because after losing 61lbs so far, some of that had to be from my belly and the hunger was starting to creep up more. Anyway, that was Thursday, now that it's Tuesday, the fill has kicked in and I'm so glad I stuck with the small fill, it's shown itself finally and I'm happy where I'm at until next time. But if you still feel this way after say 3 weeks, I'd just give them a call that you want more. I made my appt for 6 weeks ahead, but it's always an option if I feel I need a fill in between, I just ask.

I was just wanting to make a post myself about this because I have the same problem, I'm always afraid someone can hear me when I'm trying to drink something, does not seem to happen as much with warmer liquids, but cold liquids all of the time, may have to try to room temp suggestion above.

I had 2 types of Pasquale's pasta (can't remember, it was spinach something and something with seafood) and 2 slices of cake. It was really good and now I don't even crave this stuff, nice isn't it

In Need Of A "unconventional" Mentor? ???

Ha ha Doodle, he'll be back -
Hi all, if you have an Aldi's store near you, they have a Crofton Turbo Convection Oven for 39.99, which is very similar to the NuWave oven. I just bought 2, one for me and one for someone on Christmas, lol But they go fast and I found pretty good reviews online so I hope it's as good as the NuWave.

Same here, now that I'm back on solids and I have to do the liquids for 1 day, I end up starving, it sucks, but at least it's a lot shorter of a time. I go in for a fill tomorrow, so a fun liquid day ahead for me, lol

Yes I have problems with tightness too. I all of the sudden kept getting stuck on foods for a week and kept wondering what is going on. So when I went in for my last fill I asked about this and my nut said it is pretty common and her advice is that you can drink some hot tea 20-30 minutes before you eat to help "loosen' It up, I have not tried it yet, but may next time.

I don't know if you have seen it, but they have sugar free peaches, pears, and fruit cocktail now, which become low carb since the sugar is splenda. Peaches and FF cottage cheese is really good, high protein and low carb. -

You can add me 2012ALM, just started using it yesterday, had an account for awhile but the food list did not seem that good, but now it is awesome! Way better than writing down everything in a journal. Alex, it would be nice to have an app for other phones. I have a smart phone but none of the ones they list, can't they make a mini browser or something so everyone can access it? I tried to access the website on my phone, but no way to log in. -
Wow, great job!
