Has anyone gone through doing your taxes with being a self pay? I'm going to be using this as a deduction this year as it's definitely over the amount required for medical expenses and wanted to know any tips on what I can add to this to rack it up (legally) to help me pay off this loan faster with a refund? I'm going to use the mileage to my doctor because they are about 45 minutes away, but wanted to know if I'm missing anything you can suggest? Also, if you had done this before, did you do pretty well and were able to pay a big portion of your loan? I know it all has to do with AGI and all that, but still would like to know.

Stomach problems with Chike
2012 replied to stephgfl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Steph, I looked up the website as I'm not familiar with this product and I think you are running into the same problem that I had when I tried several protein shake brands from GNC and Vitaminshoppe. I got diarrhea, gas and bloating from them and found by Googling that a majority of people have these issues, something to do with lactate used in these products, I'm not lactose intolerant, but I can't do these for some reason. I even tried it with water and still had the same issues, so I knew it was the protein powder. Maybe try without milk and use some almond milk instead, this may be enough to get it agree with you. Another option may be Isopure, I have no problems with it. It is more expensive, but well worth it to me because I don't have the gastrointestinal issues with it. Maybe see if you can switch to this instead or another type the doctor suggests? Good luck! -

I was sent home after surgery with nausea medication and pain killers, but I only felt nauseous the first time I tried to eat something besides liquid and after that I was okay. Are you getting enough fluids in? I know it's difficult that 1st week out to get in fluids, so you may want to drink some gatorade to help replenish more effectively versus water.

First Period after surgery-awful
2012 replied to Peaceful1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Maybe try the sea bands that press on points in your wrists to help with nausea. I know they work well with me and car sickness, I get really nauseous easily if I'm not the one driving. I found mine at target and I believe they were about $7.00 for a pair. I'm just thinking if this is a reoccurring event, this may be a possibility to combat it each month. I also like the liquid tylenol and it can be found at Kroger too, this is probably the same as the CVS mentioned above, I have a hard time finding the adult version so I'll check out CVS next time. -
Go to the main forums page on LBT and there is a clothing exchange section and someone may be able to help.

Thank you both, this helps me know what to be aware of.

What did you experience to know that you had gallbladder issues? This is one of my fears.

I was fortunate and my car had enough paid off and enough value that I could refinance it and use the money for the surgery, rates are really low.

Haha Jewel, I did too!

Another noisy tummy here . I work in a very quiet office and think people can hear it all of the time, but they probably don't or they would say something, lol.

Wow, that does sound like a lot, but if you are comfortable, more power to you . They had me filled with a total of 4cc on my first fill (Only 2 was supposed to be in the band at surgery, but it ended up being 3), but I got to have my first experience of a stuck episode, pbing and burping with that white liquid stuff they use for the x-ray machine at my first fill, not fun at all, so I had to have some removed that day, but now I'm up to 5, go figure .

How did this workout turn out? I keep reading good things about it.

Please recommend protein shake brand
2012 replied to mbmoore2518's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like Isopure Dutch Chocolate Low Carb, no digestive issues and best price is at VitaminShoppe.com. It seems a little expensive at $44.00, but I only use 1 scoop versus the serving size of 2, your body can only absorb like 30 or 35 grams at a time anyway and 2 scoops is 50 grams. But I do add stevia to make it a bit sweeter. -
Eating small bites and chewing is hard!!!

What is this yogurt you found? I like my Danon light and Fit Greek because it has low carbs and high protein, but would be interested to know what you found? -
Glad to hear it

Eating small bites and chewing is hard!!!

Same here, I did it actually today, made some huge gulf shrimp and ate them like I used too, big bites, only got 2 down and then the Pbing started, so no solids for the rest of the day. It takes time to relearn, but you will be able to do it eventually and may run into hiccups along the way (I knew better than what I did today, but was not thinking). -
Did you have a calorie limit for the pre-op diet?
2012 replied to dolphintattoo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had to do medifast and it was limited to 5 shakes/soup/jello a day and 1 bar or a sixth liquid entree. They were not too bad, but the first few days were a little hectic with no caffeine and no sugar, but I drank a lot of flavored water in between to help. To clarify, this was my pre-op diet, I think that is what you were asking about.
